    The fact that they had to cut the moissanite in a special way to turn down the fire says it all. If you want maximum bling and fire go for moissanite....

    Great video. A lot of people never think of it in terms of opportunity cost vs. opportunity loss, and it really is. Money only goes so far, unless you've won the lottery or are wealthy. For the rest of us, a high cost diamond means not having money for something else. I can take that money instead and invest it into a Roth IRA 401K and have a lot more to show for it down the road. For some it means they have more to spend on the wedding or honeymoon, or it means a down payment on a modest home or a decent car. That is why you are right when you say there is no right answer. It really depends on the situation. People who are making snide comments about Moissanite being fake diamond, which it is not since it is a mineral in its own right, need to stop being judgmental. It's not their money, and not everyone wants a small diamond. Many times, but not always, a woman prefers a larger stone when given the choice. I know I do, and I know there are much better things to do with our money!

      Agreed, or I'd be looking at one instead of Moissanite. You may even be able to buy an "estate" diamond for a similar price to the lab diamond, if you are not into the Moissanite due to the "blood diamond" or environmental issue.

      The Patent on Moissanite has expired, and there are many cutters and Producers of Moissanite now. Moissanite is just another Ultra expensive Imitation Diamond. Moissanites only look somewhat OK in small-sized Round shapes. Have you seen a Fancy shape Moissanite Ugh? Moissanite represents everything we have grown to dislike about imitations; Too glassy, too white [in the case of moissanite, too green], too foggy, not transparent, It doesn't match my Real Diamonds, and the list continues. Your Best Value is a Benzgem Alternative Diamond; It will knock your socks off.

      It depends how sophisticated the tester is. Many jewelers have basic hand-held thermal conductivity testers. Diamonds, regardless if it is natural or lab-grown, will pass these testers. Moissanite will pass most of these testers as long as it does not have the feature to detect moissanite. Thanks!

    I thought moissanite would be more expensive than lab diamonds because moissanite grows natural like a diamond. Diamond hardness is 10.0 and moissanite is 9.5. Lab diamonds have no value nor is there a market for it yet. This is what I learned from other jewelers. CZ is an alternative to diamonds but not moissanite because it's in a class to itself. A lot of people are going with moissanite because it's cheaper and has better clarity.

      Honestly don’t believe everything you hear on UA-cam. Moissanite is lab grown and certainly does not cost 5 or so thousand for a 1 carat stone. There are jewellery on Etsy who sell stunning jewellery and you can pick yourself up a stunning 4 carat solitaire 18k ring for that price.

    • @naomilovenpeace
      @naomilovenpeace 5 років тому +3

      Most of the market for lab grown diamonds is actually industrial. They're used for things like diamond tipped drill bits and are actually better for industrial purposes because, when made properly, they have no imperfections

    • @asherasator
      @asherasator 5 років тому +2

      @@stablecoinstaking2527 Moissanite reflects lights better than natural or lab diamonds. It's refractive index is higher & it's fire dispersion is higher. So it's more intense with brilliance.

  • @teresat5496
    @teresat5496 5 років тому +1

    Lab and natural diamond as well as moissanite all come in the standard color and clarity grades (although moissanite is usually not graded) . The biggest difference is not distinguishable by the eye...because it’s the hardness of the moissanite that differs from ANY diamond...lab or grown, and the difference is only 9.5 (moi) to 10 (dia). You can match colors and clarities of all three stones...apples to apples.
    I believe moissanite could become obsolete as a jewelry gem once grown diamonds come down in price. They are used as a relatively inexpensive diamond substitute.

    I'm not trying to rain on your parade or be mean or nasty in any way. I love moissanite. I insisted that my engagement ring be moissanite. I do not see it as a cheap stand in for a diamond. Rather a beautiful gem unto itself that in my opinion is far prettier and more interesting than the mainstream diamond every thinks you must have. My choice wasn't made based on budget, I could have had any gem I wanted. Moissanite is just way cooler than a stale, stuffy old diamond. Save the diamonds for your 85 yr old grandmother's gawdy cocktail ring! Lol. That being said, here's the part where you're not gonna like me anymore. Lol. Everything you said in this 11 minute vid could literally have been said in 30 seconds. You truly repeated the same thing over and until I felt like a rat was trying to claw it's way out of my brain! 😂😂😂. So thx very much for showing the 3 stones side by side and naming each with a ball park price. Although honestly as you hold them in ur hand and I look at them on my cell phone, the difference that can be seen in ur video is negligible. Lol. My last thought is this. Why would anyone want to "fix the problem" of moissanite having too much fire? That isn't a problem. It's part of what makes moissanite a beautiful and unique gem unto itself. To dull it down to try to turn it into a diamond lookalike seems more of a "problem" to me. If you want a crappy lookalike go to Wal-Mart and buy urself a cheap cz and call it a day. But leave my moissanite alone! 😂

    All are made from carbon but diamonds are structuraly harder than Moissanite and natural diamond according to mining difficulties will stay rare. Here is my opinion on these stones: the Lab grown diamond and the moissanite will get cheaper and cheaper with time and new technology. There are devices tools to identify each one and to do the difference in between those. The only good past investment was natural diamond. In 1970, the cost of a one carat was about 10 times less than today. Here is my point: I would suggest to buy Natural diamond if you are offering it to a wife for life and to have a valuable stone to transfer after your life to your future legacy. I suggest moissanite to flash when you have no cash but you can still buy simple gold bands without stones to reflect your union.
