Lol some moissanite stones are waaayyyy toooo sparkly....it makes the stones look cheap and like a toy...while diamond fire and sparkle have an elegance to them
@Learn Something not only the brilliance but diamonds have much sharper and finer facets( giving it dimension and depth) to a keener eye you can spot it....due to its brilliance some moissanite looks blurry and messy...if you know where to buy you could get really decent size lab grown diamond at a reasonable price...I bought mine from a reputable source for 650 $ 1.7 carat l color vs2 clarity...charles and covard sells their moissanite stones for 600 usd per carat so to be honest it's a rip off...I would never buy a moissanite for that price...150 $ for 2 carat on etsy maybe but not from C&C or F&B WAYY too overpriced...I found so many moissy 2 carat rings for over 1000 usd I would never pay that much

I can definitely see a difference between diamonds vs moissanites - and yes, I personally think diamonds look a little bit better (because they have much more and finer facets, giving it more dimension and depth). However, I could never justify that high of a (marked up!!!) price for just a "stone" (not to talk about the ethical aspects of diamond-mining).
I think you are right. A diamond looks better. Nature creates this beauty in her hands over billions of years with extreme heat and pressure. For ethical justifications there are many safe sources to purchase a diamond. I think diamonds should be given a fair chance without this negative stigma attached thanks to the unethical micro diamond mines and retail communities. If you buy a GIA certified diamond it will keep you peace of mind about any blood diamond or dangerous mining issues associated in digging up these great stones. Your reply is a great blog idea for me!

I don’t think moissanite is a diamond alternative to me they are different. Moissanite is beautiful and it’s own stone. I think people don’t want it because it’s seen as “diamond alternative” and that it’s because you can’t afford diamonds. That’s just stigma. Moissanite needs to stop being called that! It’s its own beautiful stone.
They are called that because they are created in the lab with slightly different compounds. I bought a mossianite diamond for my ex wife, she couldn't tell the difference at all. I value mossianite because buying a real diamond at the price is not a smart buy because its almost like buying a brand new car, as soon as you drive it off the lot you lose half its value instantly...I have no money to give away for any reason.
@@michaelhunt6885 well its actually a gem. You can find it naturally but unlike diamonds there not an abundant of it. So you can get it a made in a lab, but the same can be said for diamonds as well

@@michaelhunt6885 What I mean is, you shouldn't worry about something like depreciation when it comes to an engagement ring. Aka driving it off the lot and losing half the value instantly. I just thought it was a callous way to refer to something that is supposed to reflect lifelong commitment. It seems wrong to be worried about future returns in that case. Maybe thats just me though

BUT! It is very true that without knowing, you would pay an unreasonable amount for Ethnicity.
With Lab Diamonds getting cheaper and higher in quality, well Moissanite has no point in being used aa an Alternative stone and should from now one be marketed as it's own thing, rather than an alternative to anything else.

I think the moissanite is on the right, it's more splittery in its facets and has more rainbows. If it had been a hearts and arrows cut I probably wouldn't see a difference!
I guessed right. Hearts and arrows, facet cuts, and fire. Moissanites you can see a more rainbow and white fire. A diamond, when turned on its table on newspaper, will not allow you to read the words because of the facet cuts.
I was able to tell the difference right away, but I still love the moissanite! I wouldn't mind this stone on my finger any day. I don't think they should be compared, they are incredible stones by their own right, not just as "diamond alternatives".

Moissanite diamonds are stunning less money. What ever your happy with. Either it is real diamond or moissanite diamond 💍. My goodness I really can't tell the difference between natural diamond or the moissinate diamond.

I personally own SEVERAL pieces of moissanite, and PREFER them for both the price point, and the extra fire dispersion! Gorgeous! I own many diamonds, I respect them as a special gift from nature, but I'm not exactly Ms. money bags to keep investing in them. I would NEVER buy CZ'S........ they're just temporary JUNK. Did you also know, that under extremely intense heat, such as a house fire, that a diamond can get destroyed, but a good moissanite WILL NOT!!!??? Anyway, Love, LOVE Michael! He explains his subjects in easy layman terms, so that the average person can easily comprehend with ease. why is the moissanite in the beginning so cloudy compared to the diamond. most moissanites ive seen have been less cloudy and clearer than the actual diamond.
In the light shot, the one on the right is the moissanite. More rainbow flashes. I love it!
As a woman of a certain age, I know that I want something flashy, but because I’m retired and on the fixed income, I absolutely cannot justify the purchase of a diamond. Do I love diamonds? Maybe. But the Moissanite would give me the flash and glitz that I want without the cost I can do without. And I can see the difference between the diamond and the Moissanite. The diamond just seems to have a little bit more clarity and may be because it’s singly refractive, the light coming from it is “sharper” than from the Moissanite. And I do not care.

Anna McEntire Great question! It’s actually a mix of both. Diamonds are naturally perceived to be more expensive and the manufacturing and labor costs are also accounted for in the pricing as well. Thanks!
It's probably also to do with Demand, not to mention that there is no longer a purpose for Diamond Alternative stones, as Lab Diamonds will be cheap enough to buy a stone for it's Ethnicity, rather than the current comfortability we have created where people invest in Alternative stones because they couldn't afford the real ones
At this point the only reason to buy a Diamond Alternative stone would be for the emotional attachment, and the Human Psychological factor of the "Under Dog" mentality where you parade your own interest to go against the grain.
BUT with that said, if you go and buy Moissanite Jewelry and when asked, you admit your stones to be what they are, well they instantly are removed from being an Alternative stone, let alone a Diamond Alternative stone and it becomes something in it's own right.
I was once told, there is no such thing as 'Fake' Jewelry, until you go out and claim something to be something it isn't.
So in regards to what I said about the emotional attachment and underdog mentality, that would only apply to people who buy Moissanite or any Alternative stone and claim it to be Diamonds, or Better than Diamond.
Lab grown diamonds are harder to make. They are real diamonds with the exception that they are not mined from the Earth; instead, they are grown in a lab.
Moissanite gems are do not possess the same chemical and physical features as a diamond.
Earth mined diamonds are not rare at all. De Beers is a monopoly, and they horde the diamonds they mine. This artificially creates scarcity in the markets and drives the price up for Earth mined diamonds.
It is rumored, De Beers has a 2ct diamond locked away in their vaults for every man, woman, and child on the planet.
In the future, lab diamonds will be easier to create, and chemical vapor deposition chambers ( diamond growing machines) will cost less than $1500. This means any Tom, Dick, or Harry that wants to grow a 3.5ct flawless uncut diamond can do so in the comfort of their own homes.
When that happens, De Beers will file for bankruptcy because diamonds will then be worth about $0.20 a carat. Diamonds are forever but their worth is surviving on borrowed time.
This will happen within 10 years...

If you're technically inclined, and you understand the technology behind chemical vapor deposition, you will be able to transform a standard household microwave into a chemical vapor deposition chamber.

I'm not sure why people can't tell the difference between moissanite and diamond... They play with light in two, slightly different ways. Forget the dispersion difference, as moissanite has long since passed the point of diminishing returns. The way the facets reflect light, as well as the color, is not the same. The dead giveaway is the contrast. Diamonds and CZ have higher contrast than moissanite. The lack of contrast had to do with the high average light return across the entire stone, due to what happens in the interplay between crown and pavilion angles when the refractive index exceeds certain values.
With that being said, I am the proud owner of a FAB oec moissanite. I will be having a custom cut moissanite in the very near future as well.

I immediately picked out the Moissanite. The moissanite is grey and has more fire (glitter sparkles) than the diamond. Moissanite only looks like a diamond to a person that has never seen a diamond before. I had an ex try to give me a Moissanite ring, I looked at it and immediately knew it was Moissanite even though I had only seen Moissanite on the shopping channel.
So stupidly overpriced for a blood diamond. Please. Moissanite for sure is a much better looking stone by far.

Brand plays a big part of how everything is priced. Even moissanites. $600 for a moissanite is expensive. There are others selling brilliant round cut moissanites for 70% less. Shop around.

You can tell the way the light dances thru the diamond compared to the moissanite. I can always tell which one is the diamond because of the way the light "dances" off of the diamond. 💎 I just recently got a Cushion cut F&B 2ct Moissanite. I do love my ring and everyone that see's it says it's stunning, nobody can tell the difference. I've worked for a jewelry store before abd learned about diamond's, so I am more trained by eye, which is a little bit of a bummer because I can tell, but I do love my ring. 💍 💜

Total scam for real. The thing is, most people don't know how to buy a good diamond. The GIA/AGS is important, but meaningless if you don't see the Gemex (or look at it in person). An awesome jeweler pointed out recently that a piece of plastic can be cut to "ideal" GIA standards, but it doesn't mean it will shine. The most important thing is light return. Imo, there's no comparison. A moissanite can definitely shine as much as a dull diamond, but thats not saying much. Even so, the diamond in this video wasn't great but I could immediately tell the difference, even as a total amateur.
There is precision cut moissanites too btw moissanites have physically higher reflective proprietors
So it's definitely more brilliant and has more fire

Moissanite looks "blurry" whereas the Diamond looks clear and sharp.
I see it as "darker" or "deeper" - interesting
I have never seen a blurry or cloudy moissanite.

With all due respect , this video is a Commercial for your own Brand of "FAB" Moissanite ( Fire & Brilliance I assume) . you can buy a well cut 8 mm DEF color Moissanite nowadays at the trade shows , B2B priced at $120 total. Charles & Colvart's monopoly on Moissanite is long over. Regarding the Retail price of a GIA certified Natural Diamond, your quotation of $50,000-120,000 is quite misleading and totally wrong. even the most Rare and Expensive 2 carat , D color, Flawless clarity, non-Flourescent Diamond can not reach the retail price of $120,000. And it is not really "WHERE" you buy the Diamond from, but what Grade of a 2 carat diamond you buy. You are obviously Not comparing Apples w Apples. You did NOT show the actual Face or Grading Report of your GIA certified Diamond. just comparing Diameter vs Diameter. Large E-tailers like Bluenile (with a real physical Address! ) can describe the disparity of prices of different GRADES of natural diamond quite well . and they only markup 5-10% above the B2B prices. It's a very high quality 2.01 carat, E Color, VVS1 Clarity, Excellent Cut, Excellent Polish, Excellent Symmetry and None Fluorescence. These diamonds will typically run approximately $50K USD if you are to bargain hunt and up to $100K with big box name brand stores. Majority of moissanite owners would always bash on diamonds speaking of how unethical this and that yet they go and buy a stone that resembles so much of a diamond? And let’s be honest ppl buy moissy and try to pass it off as a diamond. If they feel so much negativity towards diamonds why not buy gemstones that doesn’t resemble diamonds. I think many can’t afford a diamond therefore say things to justify their dislike for diamonds. It’s like me saying diamond is so unethical so wrong but I’m going to rock a moissanite where others can see and assume I’m wearing an ethical piece of gem and I don’t care cause I’m a hypocrite.
