My trap is further down just under a void in the floor.

Don't have space for a dishwasher so was looking at the compact countertop ones, any idea if those are safe to connect to the sink mixer tap and then just put the waste pipe down the sink?

Yes that would be fine.

@@dereton33 Well I bought one but looks like it's going be returned. I tried using a hoselock threaded tap connector but it leaks and the taps themselves (near the base) also leak when the hose is connected.
