What Stevie's actually playing on "Rude Mood" sounds clearer on the studio album & the jam is an Olympic feat. He's playing the lead scale from the low E but picking a _second_ high octave scale on the B/E strings simultaneously, crossing the full width of the neck with each stroke - back & forth and _in between each picked note._ That requires superhuman speed & machine-like perfection on the right hand. If you sit down with a Stevie tab book, you see what a creative genius he really was.
Yep, I bought my SRV tab books, studied his Guitar Player tabs, worked hard to learn his style many years ago. I absolutely could not begin to do it correctly. Stevie was a gift from heaven who had incomparable skills. I'm so sad to this day that he is no longer with us. My Hero RIP.
I'm a pretty good picker, I do cover this somtimes, but... it took a looong time before i was comfortable enough with it to play it live. It's a pretty smoking pace. He did it like he was born playing it

SRV is absolutely one of my favorite artists of all time. But Double Trouble(Tommy, Chris and Reese) have always been so underrated. The fact that they could just play with Stevie so flawlessly was just amazing.
I really want Jamel to check out the live version of "Cold Shot" from Austin City Limits. It's an example of a song where the best solo in the tune is not played on the guitar, it's played on the Hammond organ by Reese Wynans.
This is the same with Billy Strings. Billy is a master, so creative but his band is absolutely amazing and the fly with him and BMFS can shred, Bluegrass to Death Metal.

A lot of modern bands have gone to in ear monitors and don't even have live amps on stage....these guys were old school and I can tell you that Stevie's stage volume was LOUD....RIP SRV....
As noted in your title of your video on 03/25/87, this was at Daytona Beach, Florida at the Ocean Center with the opening act, The Gregg Allman Band. Growing up in the Dallas area, I had heard of Stevie Ray Vaughan, but never was into his music. After watching your videos, I've become a big fan. It's just one of the regrets in my life that I never got to see him perform in person. On a personal note, I just found out that when I lived in Dallas, I lived about a mile from Stevie Ray's last house he lived in on Travis Street in Dallas.
Stevie Ray still rules!!! I think one of my faves has to be “Cold Shot” especially with the video. Loved the hospital bed scene 😂 Rest in peace, Stevie-we’re better folks for having heard you play and sing, but you sure are missed ♥️
For me it’s not just his amazing,IMO unmatched talent, it’s the the pure joy and love that he has for his craft that adds that extra Angel dust that no other performer can match. ❤️
Jamel_AKA_Jamal, I am a 58 year old man that grew up during to rise rock and roll. When I was 10, I was listening to bands like The Captain and Tennille, The Osmonds, The Bay City Rollers and Abba. HAHA That is until 7th grade when I saw KISS and have been into Rock-N-Roll to this day. I have seen every band from AC/DC to Frank Zappa. I was BLESSED to see Stevie Ray Vaughan 34 years ago this month Aug. 26th, 1987 in Oklahoma City. Out of all the bands I have witnessed, SRV impressed me the most! (PRINCE 2nd, too close to call) Almost 3 three to the day (Aug 27th, 1990) SRV died tragically in a helicopter crash. Such a great loss. It will take a long time for a prodigy to replace his talent. RIP SRV....FYI: Thanks for the good job you do! Keep up the good work! Peace and Love, TALLPAUL
Saw him open for Huey Lewis. Saw him with Lonnie Mack as his opening act. Both absolutely stunning performances. And I was "down front" for the second one. The videos are great, but you just don't get to "feel" the sound! He was NOT afraid of volume!
God dammit, I was in high school, and that tour came to not one, but TWO towns within an hour and a half. I was a senior in high school saving money for college, and I convinced myself I couldn't spare the money. I also justified it by saying, "Hey, he just got clean and sober, and he looks really healthy, so I'm sure he's going to be around for a long time." He was dead in a helicopter crash a year later. Listen to a regretful old man, children: always go to the show. Always, always, ALWAYS go to the show. You never know whether or not you will ever get another chance. If you don't have the money, borrow it. If you can't get the day off work, quit your job and get a different one when you get back. I can get lots of jobs, but I can't get any more Stevie Ray Vaughan tickets. Or Soundgarden tickets featuring Chris Cornell. My two biggest musical regrets.

Then, a few years later, he was big enough where he played Milwaukee Summerfest for several years, which is less than an hour and a half from my house... Yep, didn’t see him there either since i’d end up going by myself since none of my lame-ass friends at the time were interested.... Then, i heard on the radio that fateful morning of him dying in a crash up at Alpine Valley.... I’ve been regretting it ever since....
SRV was/is one of the Top 5 G.O.A.T.S! .. I can not EVEN begin to imagine today the sounds of music coming from him, J.H. , J.J. and J.M had they all lived. Legends! True legends!
SRV was the GOAT on the guitar. It’s truly amazing what he could do with it. As great as he was when you hear his interviews he was truly a humble person. It’s not very often when you find such a great entertainer that’s as great of a human. RIP and the world unfortunately missed out on what was sure to be his best years.
The way Reese Wynans pounds out that keyboard reminds me of Jerry Lee Lewis and Little Richard. Particularly this one exceptionally wild special on Granada TV from 1964. If you ever want to see a musical instrument beaten into submission, an entire audience of teenagers whipped into a frenzy and adults completely scandalized, that was the show. I loved every single second of it. To let you know the quality, The Animals were a warm-up act. There should be clips from that show on youtube out there.
Stevie was an amazing musician. There are a lot of talented musicians out there but it's hard to match SRV. This makes me smile and laugh at the same. He was just fantastic . Truly missed .
I seen him in the first concert he did in Southern California. He played for an hour with his band, and while they took a break he stayed on stage and did five songs on acoustical guitar sitting on a stool with a single spotlight overhead...with his band rejoining him as the last acoustic song tapered into a complete next set that lasted for 50 more minutes, then 2 encores.... phenomenal...just phenomenal.
I saw SRV and his band play at the Astro Hall in Houston Texas, around 86, 87 ... It was a New Years eve Show. His younger brother's band was the opening Band ( Jimmy Don Von and the Cold Cuts ). The show started at 8pm, And was supposed to be over at 2am. But Stevie didn't want to stop playing, And just kept on playing, Later his younger brothers band came back on stage, And both bands just Jammed out all the night. I think I left at around 4am, And they were still playing. Awesome show I will never forget.
Saw Stevie Ray live twice in the 80's and im SOOO glad I had that opportunity, I was a big fan before seeing him and an even bigger fan after. We went as a small group to see him and we were ALL blown away as was the audience in general.
I was lucky enough to see him play both times he toured Melbourne,Australia. What a lesson in musicianship and humility... I still miss him .. Blessed Be SRV 💜
What you see in Stevie's playing is his generous heart. He truly gave of himself every time he played! It's obvious that he wanted everyone to feel good about spending their hard earned money to see his show!

SRV was a phenom. I'm 65 now and grew up in Austin. I must have seen him 30 or more times before he got big. Nothing better for me than catching the Fabulous Thunderbirds on Tuesday at the Rome Inn and then SRV at Antone's on Thursday and I lived within a mile of both clubs. I met and spoke with him several times; funny side note-to get an idea of his scale-start chatting with him and shake his hand-his hand wraps around yours like you are a little kid. Massive hands-longish fingers but incredibly muscled. Still miss him. His fluidity is what slays me
I noticed this video was recorded in March 1987. I saw Stevie Ray Vaughan live at the Ohio State Fair a few months later and I had a second row seat. Hearing SRV live was absolutely mind blowing.
I saw him in 87 at Meriwether post pavilion in Columbia Maryland. And then again in 1989 at the capitol centre with Jeff Beck.The dude blew me away. To this day I have not seen a better live performer. Love your videos keep up the good work!👍🏽
I was in a lot of his audiences. Saw him about 20 times give or take. I saw him once at the Lone Star Cafe in NYC, me sitting at the bar on a barstool, him no more than 10 feet away. Saw him on his last tour when he and Jeff Beck double billed. I do often wonder to myself what Stevie would be playing we’re here still alive. But I am grateful to have been fortunate to have seen him as much as I did.

I've lost count how many times I've spilled my morning coffee on myself while listening to SRV on my way to work. I can't help but play the air guitar as I drive. Been doing it for thirty years, and have yet to actually drink an entire cup. Usually end up wearing some of it.

When his Calises would fall off. He would take baken Powder and fill the hole up in his fingers and then top it off with Super Glue and skin graph his own fingers. And put skin back on his fingers. He did that all the time cause he played so hard. He described his playin' was like breakin' outta jail. ❤❤ I was there it was back stage in Daytona Beach Florida. ❤❤ it was one Hell of a good time. ❤❤ I think the whole State of Florida came out to see Stevie play. He played for 12 hours that night. We had to hold em up and help him off the stage he was so Exhaused. But he hadda good time. If he could get away with playin all night he would take advantaged of it every time. Damn I miss em. Me and my sister went to every show he ever played. We hadda a Ball Ya'll. ❤❤❤❤
I recently saw a SRV tribute concert, band by the name of Texas Flood. I unfortunately was not alive when Stevie was alive, but he is one of my largest influencers in my guitar playing. This boy can play both lead and rhythm at the same time! He was born into this world with a guitar in hand and instantly became a legend.
HOW do Tommy Chris and Reece play rhythm for this man?? As a rhythm player, it blows my mind. They've totally mastered the art of predicting the unpredictable, and stay in the groove no matter what.

i seen him in montreal spectrum,august '84 was a small venue like a couple hundred ppl and i sat 20 feet away about ,...was young ,he was starters back then i recall super guitar works nice chill time ,and later in a fest outside i seen him when he arrived late cause his father died ,was outside ,a blast super time ,..whenever im under the clouds i listed to his guitarwork get me shining rip SRV and peace out to you also ,thanks for the great input ..stay healthy godspeed:)
I’d witnessed SRV in Houston mid 70’s ish at a joint downtown off of Market Square, saw his undeniable talent. Then at Montreux, 1982, while I was stationed in Italy. It was there David Bowie took notice, enlisted him to play on the Let’s Dance record. Then back home in Houston at the (long gone) Coliseum with his brother Jimmy’s band, The Fabulous Thunderbirds. Introduced many to his music when he was still a regional act. His music never gets old.

Then, a few years later, he was big enough where he played Milwaukee Summerfest for several years, which is less than an hour and a half from my house... Yep, didn’t see him there either since i’d end up going by myself since none of my lame-ass friends at the time were interested.... Then, i heard on the radio that fateful morning of him dying in a crash up at Alpine Valley.... I’ve been regretting it ever since....
SRV was/is one of the Top 5 G.O.A.T.S! .. I can not EVEN begin to imagine today the sounds of music coming from him, J.H. , J.J. and J.M had they all lived. Legends! True legends!

SRV was the GOAT on the guitar. It’s truly amazing what he could do with it. As great as he was when you hear his interviews he was truly a humble person. It’s not very often when you find such a great entertainer that’s as great of a human. RIP and the world unfortunately missed out on what was sure to be his best years.
The way Reese Wynans pounds out that keyboard reminds me of Jerry Lee Lewis and Little Richard. Particularly this one exceptionally wild special on Granada TV from 1964. If you ever want to see a musical instrument beaten into submission, an entire audience of teenagers whipped into a frenzy and adults completely scandalized, that was the show. I loved every single second of it. To let you know the quality, The Animals were a warm-up act. There should be clips from that show on youtube out there.

Stevie was an amazing musician. There are a lot of talented musicians out there but it's hard to match SRV. This makes me smile and laugh at the same. He was just fantastic . Truly missed .

Wasn’t at this particular show but I saw him in June of 87 in NYC @ pier 84. Best show ever, Gregg Allman opened for him.
I seen him in the first concert he did in Southern California. He played for an hour with his band, and while they took a break he stayed on stage and did five songs on acoustical guitar sitting on a stool with a single spotlight overhead...with his band rejoining him as the last acoustic song tapered into a complete next set that lasted for 50 more minutes, then 2 encores.... phenomenal...just phenomenal.
I wasn't there, but I did see him on July 1st of that year in Mansfield, MA. He was so good that night, it was terrifying.
I saw SRV and his band play at the Astro Hall in Houston Texas, around 86, 87 ... It was a New Years eve Show. His younger brother's band was the opening Band ( Jimmy Don Von and the Cold Cuts ). The show started at 8pm, And was supposed to be over at 2am. But Stevie didn't want to stop playing, And just kept on playing, Later his younger brothers band came back on stage, And both bands just Jammed out all the night. I think I left at around 4am, And they were still playing. Awesome show I will never forget.
Saw Stevie Ray live twice in the 80's and im SOOO glad I had that opportunity, I was a big fan before seeing him and an even bigger fan after. We went as a small group to see him and we were ALL blown away as was the audience in general.

Stevie was a performer as well as a player and that is rare! He kills.
What you see in Stevie's playing is his generous heart. He truly gave of himself every time he played! It's obvious that he wanted everyone to feel good about spending their hard earned money to see his show!

SRV was a phenom. I'm 65 now and grew up in Austin. I must have seen him 30 or more times before he got big. Nothing better for me than catching the Fabulous Thunderbirds on Tuesday at the Rome Inn and then SRV at Antone's on Thursday and I lived within a mile of both clubs. I met and spoke with him several times; funny side note-to get an idea of his scale-start chatting with him and shake his hand-his hand wraps around yours like you are a little kid. Massive hands-longish fingers but incredibly muscled. Still miss him. His fluidity is what slays me
He also did Rude Mood....on a 12 string acoustic on MTV Unplugged. He was not of this earth. Thanks for posting; love the reactions!

I noticed this video was recorded in March 1987. I saw Stevie Ray Vaughan live at the Ohio State Fair a few months later and I had a second row seat. Hearing SRV live was absolutely mind blowing.
I was 21 years old when stevie Ray Vaughn died he was one of the best blues players of all time

I saw him in 87 at Meriwether post pavilion in Columbia Maryland. And then again in 1989 at the capitol centre with Jeff Beck.The dude blew me away. To this day I have not seen a better live performer. Love your videos keep up the good work!👍🏽
I was in a lot of his audiences. Saw him about 20 times give or take. I saw him once at the Lone Star Cafe in NYC, me sitting at the bar on a barstool, him no more than 10 feet away. Saw him on his last tour when he and Jeff Beck double billed. I do often wonder to myself what Stevie would be playing we’re here still alive. But I am grateful to have been fortunate to have seen him as much as I did.

I've lost count how many times I've spilled my morning coffee on myself while listening to SRV on my way to work. I can't help but play the air guitar as I drive. Been doing it for thirty years, and have yet to actually drink an entire cup. Usually end up wearing some of it.

When his Calises would fall off. He would take baken Powder and fill the hole up in his fingers and then top it off with Super Glue and skin graph his own fingers. And put skin back on his fingers. He did that all the time cause he played so hard. He described his playin' was like breakin' outta jail. ❤❤ I was there it was back stage in Daytona Beach Florida. ❤❤ it was one Hell of a good time. ❤❤ I think the whole State of Florida came out to see Stevie play. He played for 12 hours that night. We had to hold em up and help him off the stage he was so Exhaused. But he hadda good time. If he could get away with playin all night he would take advantaged of it every time. Damn I miss em. Me and my sister went to every show he ever played. We hadda a Ball Ya'll. ❤❤❤❤

I recently saw a SRV tribute concert, band by the name of Texas Flood. I unfortunately was not alive when Stevie was alive, but he is one of my largest influencers in my guitar playing. This boy can play both lead and rhythm at the same time! He was born into this world with a guitar in hand and instantly became a legend.

i seen him in montreal spectrum,august '84 was a small venue like a couple hundred ppl and i sat 20 feet away about ,...was young ,he was starters back then i recall super guitar works nice chill time ,and later in a fest outside i seen him when he arrived late cause his father died ,was outside ,a blast super time ,..whenever im under the clouds i listed to his guitarwork get me shining rip SRV and peace out to you also ,thanks for the great input ..stay healthy godspeed:)
I am in awe of how quick his hands are on "Rude Mood". I can't imagine playing that fast and hitting that many notes without a single dud among them.

I’d witnessed SRV in Houston mid 70’s ish at a joint downtown off of Market Square, saw his undeniable talent. Then at Montreux, 1982, while I was stationed in Italy. It was there David Bowie took notice, enlisted him to play on the Let’s Dance record. Then back home in Houston at the (long gone) Coliseum with his brother Jimmy’s band, The Fabulous Thunderbirds. Introduced many to his music when he was still a regional act. His music never gets old.
I'm still not sure, even with all the recorded evidence that we have, that SRV was real. Or at least from here. Dude is out of this world.
