Hey man are you that dude in the video that was on a bus That one lady in her place because she was Complaining about the boss or something like that? From A few years back? That was a great video Lol
Stevie Ray Vaughn is absolutely one of the most talented guitarists of all time.... and omg...Voodo Child.....phenomenal cover.... RIP Stevie....sad he's gone...
One thing for sure, there will never be another SRV, the G.O.A.T. Damn he was and still is the most awesome blues musician to ever walk on this earth 🌎🪐🌍 SRV = pure fire 🔥🔥🔥I love jimmi a lot but I’m my humble opinion SRV has passed him up. Still I have a lot of love for both ❤❤❤❤
"Stevie was an endless, open channel that music just poured out of. He made people who'd never touched a guitar in their life want to pick one up and start playing, and he made those of us who'd played live onstage with him before want to quit."..............Eric Clapton.
Oh good. You got one his finest Voodoo performances ever. Before his fellow Texans in Austin. living clean and sober. Playing like never before. Awestruck, once again. Chris and Tommy back Stevie like they all came from the same womb at the same time.
I always thought this was one of SRV's worst performances, and it is STILL outstanding. he was fighting with his gear, rushed the tempo like crazy, made entry errors.... I suspect he was fighting some demons in this performance. But even then an absolute genius.
@@don-music That's what makes it so great for a lot of folks. The raw emotion coming out of him during this set was unbelievable no matter how imperfect. He was home and whole again and just letting go.
Yep, had a chance to see him and Jeff Beck in STL in 1990 and thought I would have more time. I was able to see Beck a couple of years ago and just made me regret not seeing him and SRV sooner.
It's not just his virtuosity with the guitar, it's his huge imagination to continue to play riff after riff with no repeats or thematic framework. There are other guitarists who can play the same notes as SRV, but they run out of notes to play. He was the Energizer bunny.
IMHO, it surpasses Jimi's version, by virtue of the authoritative phrasing and power. Jimi would be the 1st to say that legends like Buddy Guy and many others paved the way for all.
RIP Stevie Ray...we did not deserve you, so you went on home. The tears cried over your passing floated you to Heaven and I am still crying every time I see you...
@@alesiaking5578 it’s not only a smart mouth but a truthful one. People on here are realistic, not delusional. Take your delusions to an SRV fan page where you can praise him for only peaking to number 38 on the Billboard charts.
Speaking as a guitarist who’s done his share of plunking along with SRV’s and Hendrix’s records: most of the things he does, if you break them down, are pretty simple. The hard part is doing all of them at that level of INTENSITY while being as musical and badass as Stevie. We’d need to be somebody else altogether to pull that off. He’s Stevie Ray… we’re not. Lord love him.🤯🎸💖
John Mayer said most guitarist couldn't play with this intensity for only a few minutes, SRV played for hrs. He also used 13 gauge strings while most guitarist used 9 gauge strings.
He’d gone to somewhat lighter strings at this point (.011 set). Apparently his friend Doyle Bramhall II asked him what happened to the heavier strings, and Stevie replied “I stopped doing cocaine, so I can’t play those anymore. I can actually feel my fingers!”😅 Sobriety FTW.
I came to the SRV party late, in the mid 1980s. I was an avid Hendrix fan, but when I heard this guy do Voodoo Child on this very performance, it blew my mind and I praised God that another Jimi was in the world...then it was all over. I had friends that went to the Alpine Valley show, his last one before the helicopter crash. That was a terribly grim day, like when Randy Rhodes or Buddy Holly died. But the music lives on.
Stevie played with size 13 strings. He'd still bend them. I use 9's on my strat and Les paul. Still kills my fingers. It's the likes of him we'll NEVER see again.
SRV tore it up😳 I can imagine right now, if Van Halen did a cover of Voodoo Child back in the 80s, Eddie's Frankenstrat would literally be in flames from the ferocious playing! Stevie Ray could damn well play!
Ain't nobody like Stevie Ray! He took Jimi's Voodoo Child, made it his own & then dropped into All Along the Watch Tower for good measure. Ought to be illegal for musicians to fly.
I saw Stevie Ray Vaughan in the late 80s or early 90s with The Outlaws. He did not do this song, but I remember he casually had a conversation with a stagehand mid-solo. Just incredible.
Poor SRV, he predicted his own death. Dreamt he was standing at his own funeral. His wife and brother said he told them he had that dream a couple weeks before the plane crash. I believe these artists are here only to complete a mission, that is, providing music or art for the masses, and generations. Once they complete their mission they are sent back. But since they are of the earth, they have to leave by earthly means, even if painful.
You'll not hear another cover of this song as spectacular in every detail , years of live shows and the blessings of Jimmy's family in preparation for this one particular performance by these 3 musicians again in your lifetime...SRV and DOUBLE TROUBLE layed down a piece of history and got it recorded on video...BOOM!
YES! YES! This is the reaction I've been waiting for since your first SRV reaction. He is the GOAT. You had a thought bubble about losing your finger tips, you don't know how true that is - Stevie used very heavy strings to get that thick sound and very few people could even physically bend the notes the way he does with strings that heavy.
Stevie was the best to ever play guitar. Add an incredible voice and stage presence to that makes him the GOAT. That being said, we do not have the opportunity to see him in person any longer, just on video but.... check out Tommy Katona and the band Texas Flood. Tommy IS the best.
How’s he do it? A wah pedal, mastery of the pentatonic scale, tons of double stops, lots of soul, etc. the question is: how’d he do it drunk? Except for the last year of his life, may he RIP, he was never sober.
He was sober from late 1986 until his death in August 1990. But it always amazes me how he could play so well even with the large amounts of cocaine and alcohol he was using. I'm so glad he he had 4 years of health and sobriety before he died.
I was introduced to the "stank face" the 1st time I ever heard SRV, and it appears every time I see one of his old performances. If you want to see him at his fastest, check out "Skuttle Buttin'" or my all time favorite "Couldn't Stand the Weather". Keep up the great reactions!!!
In my opinion, he is the best of the best! You should include Little Sister by him. Amazing keys and guitar. Not to mention the smoothest guitar switch ever!
Saw this actual guitar…..up close about 8 inches away as it was displayed behind glass for the “Play It Loud” exhibit at Met Museum. I stared for probably a good half hour. Studying all the wear, scratches, indentations. It looked like one bitch of a guitar to play. This man got it to speak like nobody’s business. RIP.
FYI, the bassist is Tommy Shannon, he used to back up Johnny Winter, he played at Woodstock in 69. His brother, Jimmie Vaughn of the Fabulous Thunderbirds opened for Hendrix in Dallas back in 68 or 69 I think.
Stevie was taken way to soon. He was not just a musician but a artist. When he played he never played a song the exact way. He played through his soul. You did only hear his music you felt it.
My Man!!! This is my go to music moment. Someone that could cover Jimi but make it his own. I think it was Albert King that noticed him when he was young. Another great one up in heaven. Peace and Go Giants!
My man....Sweetwater is the place for YOU! I suggest a Boss Katana amp. Great unit, best bang for your buck. Guitar wise, Squier has a lot of great guitars at entry level prices. Alvarez owns my heart for acoustic and they won't break your bank like the "big" names. I own 2 of them and they're my favorites (of 7 acoustics) and what I pick up 90% of the time. I can't say enough good about them. I took up guitar at 50. Do it, you'll be glad you did.
This is how to do a cover your idol. Outplay him. When I hear this song it takes me a minute to tell if it is Stevie or Jimi. But a few bars in and no doubt it Steve. In fairness, he had a lot more time masterning that lick. If there is one song to see how good SRV is, its this one. You can also find everyone else trying, like Clapton, Santana, and many more, but nobody does can pull it off like Stevie. Jimi would be in awe.
I'm late to your party, but looking at your comment about this inspiring you to learn to play guitar. Eric Clapton once said of SRV, "If you don't play guitar already, he'll inspire you to play. If you already play guitar, he'll make you want to quit!"

SRV’s 1989 Austin City Limits performance was one the very best live shows ever, anywhere, anytime. Legendary!!
Kinda epic like The Allman Brothers live at Fillmore East.
I wish I had been old enough to really appreciate what I was witnessing at the time.
The greatest guitar player in my opinion 👍🎸

agree, on both.
ALSO Agree! ....ON BOTH!!
I agree!
Jimi would be proud of Stevie Ray when this came out, now they are tearing it up in rock n roll heaven. RIP to both. ✌️
I so hope your right, and I hope to get a front row seat to that concert in the sky! 🥰
It's a good thing so much video of SRV exists, the young wouldn't believe it
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️SRV.
Just had to laugh at the looks from you, dear. That man was GIFTED.
Goosebumps with this performance everytime...it's as though ones mind and body are aware they are experiencing greatness...
I kick myself for missing his concert. I said I will catch him next time he comes into town. Still broken hearted. No one can replace SRV!!
Me too! I had many chances to catch him at a small club in my hometown but put it off, like an idiot, now I really regret it.

It’s fun watching you react again. And I can ALWAYS watch SRV.
Best cover ever. Still gives me the chills and 😢😢. Often imitated but never duplicated!!! 💜💜💜💜

Some one mentioned his 'Creative Endurance'.
It's rare that a cover of a song is just as great as the original. Stevie Ray could shred a guitar and we were blessed to have him.
