What county are you in (hunting in)? I bought some land in Dinwiddie Co. to set up and hunt in, and once they started running dogs when gun season started, I have not seen a single deer on camera during daylight hours.
@ OK that makes sense Why you’re still seeing so many deer. I envy you, Assuming you live out that way. I was a guest of a dog hunt club one day a couple seasons ago, and I get the excitement and teamwork of it, and I also can appreciate how dogs might push a nice deer my way in front of my stand. However, the other 95% of the time dog hunting seems to screw still hunters, where the deer just lock down during shooting hours unless they’re literally stepped on. I am outside Richmond, so I’m looking at a 2 hour drive to get anywhere where they’re not running dogs (outside of a military base).
@@JamesBjorkSax I gotcha! I’ve never hunted with dogs, and I’m not against it. I wouldn’t mind trying it some time. But just not the places that I stand hunt lol! I’m sure it makes it hard for ya buddy! Good luck
Are you still seeing deer moving around near you? My cameras on the smaller land plots I bought are showing zilch during shooting hours, and only a few midnight does at this point. It's like my season ended Nov 16 once the dogs were let loose.. unless I'm literally there at the time with a shotgun when locals run the dogs.
I had my shooter show up 1.5 hrs after dark and chased does around for an hr last night, he worked the scrape and licking branch hard and was lip curling! This deer is very mature and giant! Had to be over 150 inches and i got another about 120 that has a body just as big that showed just after dark yesterday, but there both showing about every night! Our gun just went out so time to xbow until late muzzleloader! And i agree all the mature deer on camera has been moving daylight from the 20th and up! Gonna be a artic blast this weekend and imma be freezing my ass off! Good luck brother!
I love to wait until Nov 25th or so, when the rut is over, and all the bucks get back in bachelor groups and are out milling around during daylight hours. I don’t even hunt the rut, because it’s so much easier right when it ends, that’s what I wait for.
Exactly spot on. They will still be searching and breeding for the next 2-3 weeks minimum. I’ve seen bucks chasing around doe around on the first of the year.
Rut, no rut, november, july, deer can be had on any day of the year, if you don't go you won't get em. Hunt the deer, they don't go in caves and hibernate for weeks, don't get tied down to a certain stand or area in your mind because of what anyone says. Go, hunt, find the deer and don't mistake sitting on your butt in a box like a guard in a guard shack for hunting. It is very effective for taking some game, but only if they are there, when you are.

It's cycles every 28 days give or take a day the does that did not get bread in early November we'll go back into estrus approximately 28 Days later and a lot of the yearling does will come into estrus in December or Jan. I've had big bucks Chase does by me in late December

Next week they will be breeding agian. Smaller peak, shorter time. Right now hunt scrapes again. Pre rut for 2nd rut.
This morning, 11/19 in northern Indiana river bottom watched a 3-1/2 year old tending a 2 or 3 yr old doe.
