It’s really a shame that people will do illegal things just to kill a deer in spite & to be able to post pictures on the internet. Deer make people do some crazy things.
Do you know how far away from where you was seeing him that he was killed?
@@weshill4864 same exact area. His core was pretty small. But like I said corn was being fed so that’s a good reason for him to not go too far:
@Gaining_Elevation damn what a shame. That would have been a buck for the books next year, for sure.
Did he kill on public? Or private?
@@weshill4864from what was told it was public, but honestly I’ve found out more info from other people and I’m not too sure about that. Either way he was very close to his core area
I have to watch what pics I share with my brother-in-law. Next thing I know it’s all over Facebook.
There is 2 people that know of the giant im hunting! The property owner doesn't even know! I ain't putting all this work and time into it for someone to slide in and jack me up! Unfortunately the neighbor knows about him and knows i know he's around! I just started keeping my mouth shut! There is alot more giant deer than people realize but they don't want to scout smart and not leave scent all over the place! I stay out of my spot unless i absolutely have to go in to change batteries or solar! I do have to bait this deer because the property is on the smaller side! The deer im getting almost nightly is a 160 class 8 point and is probably 5, and there is a 2 yr old 10 that is around the 30 mark and will be a stud 1 day! One good thing about talking to the neighbor is he showed me some pictures of some deer from last yr and they are some giants around this spot! He showed me a 70s class chocolate racked 10 that is unreal! He can't help but show everyone! And he baits and rides his sxs all over his place, and claims he hardly get his picture! He doesn't know i keep him on camera because of that! Hunt smart and they will show up consistently if they are there! I even wear a paint suit to go in and rebait and move cams etc.
I was having gaining elevation video withdraws. Glad to see you back and can’t wait for the scouting.
lol sorry bro I been sick. I’ll be back at it I promise!
@ not a problem take care of yourself first.
Oh man well that stinks
Did ya get em
Did ya watch the video!? Smh
@ SMH!! yes I did!! A person cant comment??
@@BackMountainOutdoors sure can! It's your choice if it's a dumb question or not and it's mine to comment on that! 😭
Deers dead Brandon fisher killed him
Started out with a compound, thought i tore my shoulder up, so i switched to crossbows, then found out my shoulder was better and switched to a recurve and I love it!!! still have 2 crossbows but don't shoot them, too heavy and awkward and not fun to carry and lug around for any distance, but I don't care what other people use.
Just so everyone understands if there is any question. Crossbows are not going away and won’t be restricted either. The are actually in the majority for archery weapon sales and harvests in the archery season. Whatever the hunter chooses to use is a cause to celebrate!
In the end it’s about what you like! Whatever you choose, have at it. Yes, it’s true, crossbows have change a lot from the past. I would hope that people don’t go around putting you down or disrespecting you for your choice of weapon. Those are the people that I have a problem with. Those people that go around hating are hunters we could do without. For me, I’ve taken deer in the past with stick and string. I like crossbows. Apples or oranges. Crossbows take less practice by far. All hunters deserve respect!
Thanks for the tip, I’m going to give the boot covers a try!
Try wearing alpaca wool socks, without a liner. The best, and warmest boots are muck style, with removable inserts (wool-felt). Make sure that your boots are not too tight around your feet. I’ve hunted in -20 F all day without getting cold feet.
They look like the boot blankets from years ago
What size did you get? Id hate to buy and need different size
@@wbf91 36 size waist in pants. Got a size large. Email them if you have questions. They have great customer service
@Gaining_Elevation been rocking a cruzr xc for last 2 season and its been a grear saddle....but I've got the itch to try one of the roosts lol
@@wbf91 you will be impressed to say the least. lol
These things rock. Thanks!
Hothands toe warmers bottom of your socks. 2 layers socks . Medium otter wool sock in 1000gram boots. Thicker if colder weather
I agree with what you're saying here. I wear a size 15EEEE boot. I have hell finding boots to fit my feet. Good leather boots is a no go. Can't find any. If I do find some my size, depending on the manufacturer, some of them are small. The boot covers you're talking about go up to a size 15. I'd almost bet my LaCrosse Alpha Burlies won't fit in them. And sizing up, 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂! That's funny!
Dude, totally agree! "look stupid" yep! But they work great!
You "southern boys" never experienced sitting up a tree in Northern Minnesota Muzzle Loader season at -20 below zero! That is a challenge...must keep your toes moving!
Loosen the laces on your boots. I use these and only wear hiking boots. Toss in a hand warmer or USB rechargiable hand warmer.
Tuck the corner of the hand warmer in your laces to keep over your toes.
They are going to increase the prices because they hafto earn back what they spent buying MR.
Hey man! Not sure if you remember me or not but we were neighbors growing up! I remember when you were first getting in to this stuff! You taught me how to shoot your bows and stuff in the back yard. Crazy to think that 15-20 years later you’ve started to share everything you’ve learned with the world. Love to see it man. I don’t know the first thing about hunting, but I enjoy this style of video! Keep up the good work!
@@jordandavis2495 hey bro, of course I remember you! Yep that was many moons ago! I appreciate you watching & commenting! Take care man! 👍🏻
Well, I’ve never had a mystery ranch pack. Mainly because of the price. I’ve got a few Eberlestock and I love them. They aren’t cheap but they’re great packs. And occasionally go on sale. Which is when I bought them. I find it hard to believe that mystery ranch packs are that much better for the extra money.
I have a pair of them that I took out a couple of times but didn’t get to use them cause my feet didn’t get cold.
I wish you and Nathan could get together and do a post season scouting video. And show what you’re looking for, areas you would setup, east facing ridges, secondary ridges etc. I’ve hunted these mountains all my life and what I’ve learned is that there isn’t much info out there on hunting these mountains. And I’m just trying learn everything I can.
@@bradphillips1588 I’m trying my best to make that happen! I’ve discussed it with Nathan & I’m gonna see what we can do! I know it would really help a lot of people! Thanks for the kind words! I’m going to try to post a video similar to this weekly for you guys! Thanks for watching & commenting!
Yeah very little information on the southern Appalachian mountains! Plenty of information on the northern Appalachian mountains cause people track in the snow up there. Sucks we can't get any good snow during November and December good enough to pick up any tracks.
@ I agree. I’d love to track!!
Thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge
No problem buddy! Thank for watching! A lot more coming up
Im starting the ass ranch
Appalachian isn’t hill county. 😂 I’ll be doing the same thing in January. I’ve noticed if I take leaves and dirt rub the tree down. The bears doesn’t mess with my cameras as much.
@@mitchmouers2112 Appalachian mountains not Appalachia! Look up what the Appalachian mountains are! This is not hill country. The camera doesn’t show nearly how steep it is or the gaining of 2,000 feet. Thanks for watching brother!
@@Gaining_Elevation The hill country comment was a joke. These mountains will separate the men from the boys.
@ oh I understand what you were saying now. I read it the wrong way! My apologies brother!
Getting good
Clickbait ass title

Maybe if they didn't price it out of the range of the public. $125 for a binocular case is stupid, they got greedy. I don't buy anything Yeti for more of the same reason. The only Yeti I have was won at a Christmas party. I have two Eberlestock packs bought on sale one day one hunting, one Badlands hunting pack I bought on sale, one Badlands day pack for the wife full price, and a Cabela's modular pack frame and packs that I bought on sale. I looked at Mystery Ranch and liked them, but I didn't find the price justifiable as apparently did the majority of hunters. Yeti packs will sell to the government because they have free taxpayer money, but working class hunters without Yeti sponsorships will pass. Yeti is a marketing company disguised as a manufacturer.
i will say you get what you pay for tho, i bought a sawtooth 45 a LONG time ago and use it like it owes me money and it's as good as the day i got it. its a shame they have gone out of business i would have loved to get a beartooth 80 for the month long trips.
The best thing I've found for target panic is to do draw holds. I'll draw, hold on target and not shoot 2-3 in a row, then shoot one. Then draw hold again. I have to keep my brain trained to see the sight picture and not make that the goal, but a step towards the goal. It has helped me tremendously to do that in practice often. Like a true, bear down on the spot, burn a hold, laser bean focus, draw hold. I'll often hiccup and flinch and want to release when I get to the sight picture of good aim, but I hold through it and then let down. I hope that helps you like it's helped me.
@@afarley337 yes thank you!! I do have to do that as well! It does help! My panic was so bad at one point I couldn’t even pull it back & get a sight picture, then let down without shooting it. It was awful! I agree though it does help tremendously! Thanks for watching & the comment brother
I always hang my packs upside down at night to dry them out. Works for me.
Hot hands toe warmers work great last 8 hours.. 👍
They are merging with yeti but the military and fire will stay under the mystery ranch name
@@gavrielhamlin6917 yeah I explained that in the video. Thanks for watching
@ for people who get scared in the beginning 😅
@@gavrielhamlin6917 lol! 😂
When it comes to hunting and cold weather I've come to learn i dont care if I look stupid or ugly as long as im comfortable in the stand then im in the game. Thanks for the tip!
Sell your packs now!
I can sympathize with you on the challenge of target panic and "use too" fight with it continuously for years. You are "freezing " off target because you are trying to aim. The same thing happens to me but I freeze off to the left. I finally beat it by accepting the fact that not all people can shoot a bow like a firearm. Trying to force myself to shoot in a manner that was more work than fun was not good. I was so depressed and gave up archery years ago because of it. If its not fun why am I doing it? All I wanted to do was go out and have some fun shooting the bow and not everyone can be an olympic archer. I now shoot in a dynamic style...fluid...non interrupted shot cycle. If you are not familiar with Jeff Kavanaughs vids you should look him up. I admire his shooting abilities and value his type of accuracy. Referring to this style of shooting and dis-missing it as "snap shooting" because it is not as accurate on stationary targets as "aiming" is simply close minded. I dont care if other people can shoot better than me, there is ALLWAYS someone that can do SOMETHINGS better. So what? If I were you I would just relax and shoot, set reasonable goals, maybe 6'' pie plate at 15 yds, then maybe 8'' at 20yds etc. Its up to you. Hope this helps.
Do you like this bow better than your 58" satori? Good video
@@wpmissourioutdoors7071 I do not. I love my satori! Thanks for watching brother
This seems strange. Didn’t even know they were struggling
@@Stickbowsouth they aren’t struggling.
2 pair of wool socks...is the trick to keeping feet warm, dry, and blister free. A thin wool sock...covered with a thicker wool sock. 2 pair...is all you have to do. The Army experimented with this...waaaaaay back in WW1 and WW2. All you need...is 2 pair. All Wool. One thin wool sock, covered by one thick wool sock. Problem solved.
Checkout Joel Turner stuff with Shot IQ to help with target panic.
Cannot agree more about the boot covers! They’re life changing. I even had the big bulky o.g. version years ago. lol. I don’t like carrying these either but compared to the original model trust me they are super packable. Fwiw tho remember that keeping ur body core warm is the ultimate key to warm feet, not the other way around. I’ve found that a fleece neck gaiter, a good layering system and those boot covers are the perfect combo. Sat 11 hours in a stand last week with temp rang 20F to 30F all day. My toes were toasty!! Agree also on sizing…bigger is better than smaller. Good vid!
I use it and it does a fine job at a good price.
Gorilla glue sticks dry fast. Good stuff & good recommendation.
I DID buy them 20 years ago. Best ever!
I just told Nathan about your channel a few weeks ago
He told me his friend had just told him about my channel. But I didn’t know who it was. It’s really crazy how things end up! I have a lot of respect for him! I appreciate you watching & commenting brother!

New to your channel, I like your content and way of thinking, I hunt with traditional bow, I live south central pa hunt mechaux state forest, some big bucks but definitely tough hunting them.
Awesome! Thanks for watching brother! Those big bucks sure aren’t easy!
Got a ravin r10. It’s heavy. But I’m unable to pull a compound with my shoulder now. I miss hunting with my compound.
