Zaïre Krieger will be performing Spoken Word, a piece which encapsulates her state of mind as a young women of colour in a white country. Its a state of mind where she is constantly changing and moving to adapt to her surroundings to be able to survive. The piece is an exploration of the way we all switch around the codes that are supplied to us by the system, but the piece ultimately shows how much of a construct something like race truly is, even though it has real world consequences. Ultimately this piece is a search for the self, amidst a world full of codes that we are expected to keep to, especially as marginalized people. Zaïre is a passionate spoken word artist, concerned with societal issues such as racism, feminism, and the LGBTQ+ community.
