That guy from BDB (later on digital) and half the channels only showed a red dot because the transmitters couldn't be yanked up enough. Its no wonder everyone went with Sky.
Yeah and look what digital TV brought us, more choice and more rubbish! Not to mention a horribly digitally compressed noisy picture with horrible MPEG-2 pixelation on fast flowing water, a moving grainy film on archive programmes and old films, and a ghastly film of noise on anything that is brightly lit. Things didn't improve greatly till HD came along which boosted the picture quality greatly, and bit rates were upped a little on SD (Standard Definition) channels using 576 line resolution, still not perfect though, but eminently more watchable.
Analogue was far better. Remember the days when you went on holiday, brought along a portable TV and aerial. You could be in the countryside, and would pick up the four main channels, even though the quality might not be great, you could still watch it. Now, it is an all or nothing approach. Analogue signal meant you lost quality, but you never lost full transmission where it became unwatchable.
Really? tried watching Freeview lately? Constant repeats & 5 minutes of adverts every 5 minutes! I can't afford Sky and can barely afford the TV licence, TV in the UK is broken.
@@christopherhulse8385 The amount of ads on UK broadcasting is very heavily regulated. Outside of a once in a lifetime event that changed that for a week, the amount of ads permitted on UK TV hasn’t changed in decades, and it’s certainly never been anywhere close to once every 5 minutes…
FF 2023 and sky compared to its digital early days and its pretty much half the service it once was with many channels closed since launch, Interactive service gone. And the whole idea of watching TV in its over the air form is slowly becoming a thing of the past. The only thing that has not changed is price increases!
No Teletext in the age of the internet isn't the loss you seem to think it is. Also just because you only like things from when you were younger doesn't mean there is nothing good to watch it's just you are set in your ways.
Thanks so much for this upload Edutainment Edutainment I love old recordings

Canal+ was the first in Europe in Digital TV as Canal Satellite later CanalSat now known today as simply Canal
I sure hope this digital TV thing takes off.

Who could forget those first god damn ugly sky digital boxes?
The old Sky Digiboxes from the late 90s and early 2000s will still always work until Sky completely switches to DVB-S2

Digital TV has revolutionized the way we watched TV. It's a much better experience.

Hello.
"Digital is way better"
Hmmmm yes. Overpriced TVs, Unneeded Channels, Ads for Hours, Boring Shit and No Teletext.

Yep, take off your nostalgia goggles. Digital TV is simply better in literally every single way.
