The madness was how much they paid for the Football League rights. They already had all of Sky Sports on their platform as Sky were obligated to retail them to ITV Digital. But ITV Digital were not obligated to retail their sports channels to Sky. They wanted to position themselves as having more football then Sky. Which was smart since football was a huge drive to pay TV. The problem was ITV Digital leveraged themselves too deep to do it.
