How To Make And Sew A Star Applique To A Tshirt ALL UPCYCLED

- In this DIY video tutorial, we will be jazzing up a boring black top with a fun and sparkly star applique. First, I will show you how to draw the perfect star pattern. Then we back a piece of sequin fabric with fusible interfacing, I will show you the easy steps to do this in case you are not familiar with interfacing. Then we pin and sew it to a shirt to create a one-of-a-kind piece of wearable art. Keep in mind, this would be just as awesome on a t shirt, sweatshirt, back of a jean jacket, jeans, flannel shirt and so much more. Have fun!

Hi Traci. I found a way to get over my 'intimidation' with trying something out of my comfort zone. Maybe this will help some of your other subbies. My husband and I were in a diner and I saw a young girl (about in late 20's) with a 'grunge' flannel shirt on. I asked her about the shirt and we started up a conversation. I told her I was making boho type jean jackets and would make her one. Well, I found out that I could more easily push my creativity by making something with someone in mind. I made it really grungy. Yes...challenging... but since I was giving this away...no charge...I felt like it was a way for me to 'go for it'. Well, she loved it. I also did same for another young girl. Part of this is that I like for young people to see that older people (I'm 72) appreciate the young kids and want them to be happy....especially if you are literally a stranger to them. I could have NEVER done this if you weren't here to give me the skills and confidence to move out of my comfort zone. She was so full of joy and so was I. You should know that your generosity brings joy to others.....a rare thing.
