One note about the florescent dust that you used. I think it's much smaller than your average dust particle. That's why the phone was caked in it. I've been with my Z flip 3 to the beach and it's still fine.
@@Sheenifier If I were a engineer at samsung and my task was designing the hinge, I would put a tiny hole for cleaning out the dust. Water wouldn't get it because of surface tension..

From the dust test, is it a big deal? Since it's IPX8, from the teardown, we see the dust is isolated to just the mechanical parts and it did not find its way into the electrical parts. Could you not just wash away the dust inside by submerging under water and working the foldable a few times?

It's barely dust resistant since it can handle dirt and sand to an extent. In the video, this guy used fluorescent dust which is not going to be in your daily occurrence since dust particles come in all shapes n' sizes, not just 1 particular size nor material like shown in the video. Gotta wait to see Jerry Rig Videos for that. It's most likely gonna be the same outcome like the Fold 4 where it would work in spite of the dust on the device.

Any products people had to pay while the product was considered still in warranty? Back to the subject was quoted that the cost of repair out of warranty was $550 for inside screen repair for Fold2 and for Fold4 is $500. And even with out of warranty insurance Samsung Care+ or maybe some other seems just about the same for the Fold at least since for this type is premium tier where the insurance fee is already highest for coverage the deductible is also the hundreds so seems ends up in the same in the end if really total things up. Remembering still how normal and matter of fact it was growing up 90s, repairing your own parts was expected as paid full price for the product, so to bring repairs normalizing like that with movements and laws passing on Right to Repair glad to see it passing through states. Truly wide to see 1K-2K phones to be something to be a one year one time use what a waste in so many ways.
phone manufacturers, this may come as a shock, but it's very easy to put a phone in conditions where the glue just fucks off, use screws, metal panels and rubber gaskets, not glass, plastic and glue. also nintendo already had this down to an art for nearly 20 years, minus repairability, fuck those hinges, nightmare fuel. also that seems like quite a serious discrepancy in the capacities of the batteries

I see that from the teardown, there's a circuit board at the location. Food for thought, could it possibly be faulty connection? If anybody has a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5, please replicate the situation (download Roblox and play a game/shooting game like Frontline, the exact game I tested) and let me know if your device heats up as well to the point of burning to the touch as mine did.
