More Christmas ornaments! This time I decided to try something new. I've seen this technique and wanted to try it; marbling with spray paint! I bought a bowl from the dollar store, filled it with water and then sprayed the spray paint on top. I then used clear ornaments from Michael's and dipped them into the spray paint. This is definitely something that I would like to do more of!

So pretty! ❤ For more control over the colors, nail polish works great, too. Two additional perks; tons of colors, including metallics and glitter polishes, for $1 each at Dollar Tree, and no spray paint fumes. My daughter and I used to buy white mugs and glass vases at Dollar Tree and use the same technique on them to make Christmas gifts. 😁

Thank you!! I have not tried nail polish yet and I definitely want to. Especially with the variety. I'll have to hit up the dollar stores and see what I can find and see how it turns out compared to the spray paint! Mugs sound super cute with this technique!

I do my nails that way, except using metallic craft art paint or nail polish. The ornaments look good.

Very Pretty! Just throwing this out there for other viewers who may not have spray paint... this works well with nail polish to just drops of polish on the surface of the water . With the polish (being a bit thicker) you can create designs to submerge your ornaments into. Make sure you "swish" away the polish before pulling the ornament out so the design isn't damaged. Thanks for sharing!!!

Very cool. I've read about this technique but had not watched a video showing how to actually do it. The ornaments are stunning.

Thanks so much! I want to try more of this and along with spray paint, see how nail polish would also work.

Pretty on the glass. I used to do gourds and soup cans like this. So many beautiful spray paints on the market now there is no limit on colors that can be used.

I spray base mine white when using bright colors. For using gold and silver I spray black just gives an awesome color then I swirl them in. When I grow gourds I try to leave a good vine tip on them in case I do dips. When I do Cans I pop two holes opposite of each other add a wire spray white then dip. Fill with candies etc. I hate that coffee companies don’t use those huge metal cans anymore. I have also dipped the plastic laundry detergent containers then dip them and use as water containers for gardening. I taught after school art enrichment program and it was a tight budget so I would save everything so we could do extras.

I wonder if adding glitter to the mix would work? Some glitter is heavy, but a small dusting might work! :)

Are you laying them down on cardboard or something. Would like to see where to place them and on what type of surface. Also, how long before they are dry?

    • @amandasdesignsofficial
      @amandasdesignsofficial  2 роки тому

I put them on some dowels. It took a couple of hours before they were dry.

I tried this of course out side temp was 84 & 90% humidity. Paint globed bad didn’t dry very fast. Was still sticky 30 minutes later. I used rust o leom. It was enamel. Does all this make a difference. Also the paint tended to break up when trying to clean out with art stick. Still was fun. My grand daughter had a ball doing it. Any suggestions

I actually had the same issues, so I don't have a lot of suggestions. I need to try it out some more in different temps to see what works better. Mine were sticky for a while.

Do you think a green and red mixture would work? I’m new to this.

Does it matter the temperature of the water?

      I don't believe so.

We did this with nail polish and we tried room temp/slightly warm water on one batch. Another batch the water was a bit cool. The polish seemed to spread out more with the cool water. We thought the room temp (slightly warmer water) would have caused this, but it was the cooler water that seemed to give us issues.
Nail polish and spray paint are different, so maybe the water temp wouldn't matter as much with the spray paint.

Can't see a mask on your face for protection !! Your health is more important than anything , please think about this carefully & read the instructions on the back of the cannister VERY IMPORTANT
