Very cool....I love that you blew out the Christmas ribbon pour it is gorgeous! Thank you for doing this video on the ornaments, I am preparing to do a group of them for an upcoming art show. ♥♥♥
Thank you Chris...this is so doable with beautiful results 😍🥰 I'm for sure going to try this. I have Arteza ready mix and Artist Loft ready mix. Thanks for the heads up on mixing paints.
I was more happy with the results of my Gen Craft ready mixed than Artist's Loft (which I love for other techniques) so you might try the Arteza's first. Have fun!
These are amazing. 2 days drying time before varnish is sufficient? Does that varnish smell strong? I am afraid or all the fumes. Have you ever done these with paint inside? They are super gorgeous. Do you ever try to re use the pain that dripped? Thanks for the great video!!
I found two days drying was plenty. I'm sensitive to odors and chemicals but have no problems with Liquitex varnish. I do however, work next to an open window. I have not tried pouring inside the ornament...might give it a go! Could then skip the varnish entirely and easily save the drips to mix together and use as a basecoat on something later! Thanks for watching!
Love these projects! Thank you for your directions! What did you mix with the white that you put in the large cup to cover the ornaments at the beginning of the video? Thanks!
Thank you Stacey...you must have skipped the part when I described the paints. I used Gencrafts ready to pour paints for the green one and Artist's Loft Ready-Mixed for the red one. 😘
Beautiful Chris. I feel a trip to Michael's coming on! These would be nice Christmas gifts for friends, in sets. As always, thanks for the insporation.x
Hi Chris, thank you for responding to my comments. I thought you said you used liquitex liquid glass after you did the pour? Maybe I misunderstood? If not liquid glass, what did you use? I also love the painting...what technique did you use for that?
I dipped the dried ornaments in Liquitex Gloss Varnish. The painting was a blown out ribbon pour...you can find it in my playlists under Ribbon Pour. I have several Christmas color ones that I think are even prettier. 😊
I watched one of your acrylic paint videos and in it, you showed us a white drizzling spoon that can be used instead of a regular spoon. Could you tell me which vide number that was. I have tried to find it with no such luck. I really enjoy your videos very, very much. Thank you, Sharon Otellio
Thanks Sharon...I think you may mean towards the end of this video (about 12 minutes in) when I'm varnishing...it's just a plastic soup type spoon I got with some to go food (salsa from a Mexican restaurant). Hope that helps, and thank you for your kind comment!
These are really nice and a different method to what I do usually, Definitely going to try this method. Can I ask how much you would charge per ball? Thanks a lot.
Hon, I made these three years ago. I sold them individually, I think for $5 each? I think a set of six could sell for $25 and still make a nice profit. 😘
These are just beautiful!! If you wouldn’t mind I’ve never used ready mixed paints, what would the consistency be for the paint if I was to mix my own? This looked pretty thick. Also how long will these need to dry before varnishing?
I would say it's medium! Half Floetrol, half paint and a little water. The colors were all ready mixed paints, straight from the bottle. Mixed paints would work too of course, as long as they're compatible with Floetrol.
I don't know Gloria! I suppose if it's still wet you could simply hose it off, but those I didn't like that dried, I tossed. I figured they were inexpensive enough to dispose of. 😉
They are so pretty Chris!!! I actually thought you were going to let the white base coat dry first, but looks like there's no need to. Thanks for sharing this easy idea with us🥰
I ended up trying this and loving it! However, I chose a terrible place to dry! I hung them on a hanger- not thinking of the sun. It melted 80% of the back paint off the ones that I poured inside. Live and learn. I have a new drying area!
Thank you for doing this. Any reason why you couldn’t do the white base coat ahead of time & add the colors another day? Will it matter if the base coat is already dry when adding the color?
Maybe you can get cheap plastic ornaments? Even if they’re already colored, you’re going to put on a white base coat and then pour over them, so that might work for you.
Thank you so much for sharing your process! They're beautiful! D you think you could use polycrylic as a varnish??? oops... I see that was already answered. Your Christmas ribbon pour turned out simply gorgeous after the few blowouts💗
Beautiful And so easy!
It really is so easy! Thanks for watching! 😘
I love the shape of these too! Gravity sure does finish them nicely. Great idea to spoon over the varnish. As always, thanks for the inspiration!
Thank you Cindy! Cheers!
I love, love that last one!!
Thanks for watching! 😘
Good, I will try this.I have been watching videos to find the easiest way to paint ornaments and this looks like a good one.
It really is simple! Have fun!

This looks fun!
It is! I hope you'll give it a go!
Beautiful! I must try this. Do you have to dispose of the florist block after doing the 2 pours?
No, you can use it over and over. If you want to clean it up, just shave off the top! 😉
These are beautiful. I didnt know about the varnish.
Easy peasy with just one coat! Thanks for watching!
Beautiful!

Love these projects! Thank you for your directions! What did you mix with the white that you put in the large cup to cover the ornaments at the beginning of the video? Thanks!
Thanks for watching! The white was 1 part Floetrol, 1 part white paint (don't recall which, probably Artist's Loft) and water to thin. 😊
The ornaments are lovely! Can't wait to try them!
Thank you! Have fun!! 😘
Very neat idea! Thank you, Chris! 🤗🧡

Hi Chris, thank you for responding to my comments. I thought you said you used liquitex liquid glass after you did the pour? Maybe I misunderstood? If not liquid glass, what did you use? I also love the painting...what technique did you use for that?

These are so elegant and shimmery! Thanks for sharing...it's so fun! Do you think polycrylic would work as a varnish? Or a spray varnish? 😊🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Thank you, Tera, and yes to both! 😘
These are really nice and a different method to what I do usually, Definitely going to try this method. Can I ask how much you would charge per ball? Thanks a lot.
I don't make them to sell, but I think $5 would be reasonable? I myself wouldn't pay more!
How many do you have in a set? They are beautiful and so easy to make.
Hon, I made these three years ago. I sold them individually, I think for $5 each? I think a set of six could sell for $25 and still make a nice profit. 😘
If you cover the styro with plastic wrap, you can peel the dried skins off for other use
Thanks for the tip!
Beautiful! What kind of paint did you use for the base paint?
I made this video last year...not sure but probably Artist's Loft Soft Body? Half and half with Floetrol and water to thin. 😊
What consistency do you find better for doing these a thin or warm honey consistency
I used ready mixed paints so I didn't have to mess with consistency, but I would say thinner than warm honey. 😉
I just love this Can you please share with us where you go to get the ornaments 🥰
Thanks Carolyn...I bought them at Michael's last year, and I saw them there again this year. 😉😘
Is there a way to fix the paint if you don’t put enough paint on to completely cover the bulb?
I imagine you could pour over the dried ornament, though I have not tried. They're so inexpensive, I tossed those I wasn't happy with! 😉
Would you use pre mixed white for your base coat ?? I don't have flotrule
You certainly could, Patti. Should be no problem. 😊
@@ChrisJeszeck thank you 😊
Also are you pouring the paints full strength or are you mixing them with something
The white base was Artist's Loft Soft Body mixed 50/50 with Floetrol but the colors were ready mixed, straight from the bottle.
These are just beautiful!! If you wouldn’t mind I’ve never used ready mixed paints, what would the consistency be for the paint if I was to mix my own? This looked pretty thick. Also how long will these need to dry before varnishing?
I would say fairly thin, almost a Dutch pour consistency. Most of mine dried so fast, I varnished the next day!
Is the base coat thick or thin and do you mix the craft paint with floetrol or some other form of medium
I would say it's medium! Half Floetrol, half paint and a little water. The colors were all ready mixed paints, straight from the bottle. Mixed paints would work too of course, as long as they're compatible with Floetrol.
What is the easiest way to remove acrylic paint off of a ornament if it doesn't look right or the paint gets funky

Yep, live and learn! We've all had experiences like that! LOL.
Thank you for doing this. Any reason why you couldn’t do the white base coat ahead of time & add the colors another day? Will it matter if the base coat is already dry when adding the color?
I think the colors probably flow better on a wet base? Not sure, though. If you try it, let me know! 😊
@@ChrisJeszeck Ok thanks. I’ve made some on round plastic ornaments but I didn’t use a base color.
Does your base coat have an additive? Couldn’t u spray the basecoat?
I tried that and didn't care for the result. Much preferred the wet on wet application. Details in description box. Thanks for watching!
What kind of base coat did you use an a medium too. Thanks Terri
All details are in the description box. 😊
I love the picture
Thank you Gwen! 😊
Mixed media girl has been doing ornaments too. They are beautiful.
Lots of people are! So quick and easy!
@@ChrisJeszeck and fun, I saw the ornaments last year on Mixed Media girl. Now I see it everywhere.
I line them! Sucks I can’t get the blank ornaments in Germany like that
Maybe you can get cheap plastic ornaments? Even if they’re already colored, you’re going to put on a white base coat and then pour over them, so that might work for you.
Margaret has a good idea there, Dominik!
@@margaret7620 that’s a great idea!! Thank you!!
Do you know if mod podge can be done on these blank ornaments
I would think so...haven't tried though. 🤔
I don't like pink ornaments, and it seems every time someone pours red over the white base it turns pink. How can that be fixed?
No law saying you must use a white base! Use red. 😉
And or Let white dry
@manyalowry2210 I found it needs a wet basecoat to help the colors move nicely.
Thank you so much for sharing your process! They're beautiful! D you think you could use polycrylic as a varnish??? oops... I see that was already answered. Your Christmas ribbon pour turned out simply gorgeous after the few blowouts💗
