Cobbler seems to be taking a page out of Valve’s book, making a great video and never releasing the sequel. Amazing
The dedication is real
No, he has to make Part 2 and then not release a Part 3 for a decade.
I'm waiting for part alyx in 20 years in vr
I look forward to making this comment age poorly...
but respect that you called me out on my bullshit. It's been far too long. Thank you
@@DJPeachCobbler it’s ok dude, don’t feel the need to rush a project because of us
The cyberpunk joke aged way too well
That’s all it is
It's how I imagine cyberpunk being on it's original April release date
That is NOT how it went down
They had Keanu too
And it still has to this day
A bit suspicious if you ask me
We making fun of valve for not being able to count to three when this guy can’t count to two
Wow. That is was so meta Overwatch adopted the strategy
...those digital guys. There‘s only zero and one.
holy shit that Cyberpunk 2077 foresight
when i saw that bit i had to quickly checked the upload date cause it was so accurate
How?, the writing had been on the wall for a while before release
he is a messiah
Cybershit
your use of portal 2's "I AM NOT A MORON!" is perfect
Thank you, I often run and listen to music while I think of videos. This whole video actually began with me thinking of that intro while listening to that song.
19:07 I seriously thought he was gonna start talking about SFM P🚫rn
Yeah....
i was betrayed, i was promised cbt.
cbt?

It's weird because I already know 90% of this stuff, but these videos are always so entertaining, great stuff.
I love how you used Half Life Remixes in the background! I love the original tracks, but remixers have done such a good job making them bangers
They're really outstanding, I need to keep track of which I'm using and credit them on part 2. It was easier to justify not giving credit when I had almost no subs, but I've grown guilty about it.
@@DJPeachCobbler you should, that intro song is amazing and I'm dying to know what it is 😤
Bangers and mash 😎
All hail God Emperor Cobbler for blessing us with another video
Hail to my Queen!
This dude made an entire UA-cam channel in mockery dj peach cobbler
I think that the things that really wowed me at the time were the physics engines. When I had gotten into gaming, I was miserably behind. Being able to see things move- to pick up and THROW things without my computer, for lack of a better term, frying was... wow. Your use of the word wow factor is pretty spot on. During their time, Valve's HL2 and Bethesda's Oblivion were certainly very wow.
It's just one of those things that I can only see in retrospect since I didn't play the games until the last few years. I'm thankful for that tech demo footage from 2003, so I could see genuine reactions to it at the time.
He’s supposed to never make a part 3 not a part 2 lmfao
Its amazing how i watched one of your videos and got sucked in for like 5 hours doing nothing but watching more and more of them.
Funny, I'm runnin out a day later... like whole day. Startin to get that feelin when your runnin low on drugs... So you go through all the couch cushions and check all the spots and start co'olatin whats left over and any scraps you can pool to asses how empty your about to feel and what the eta is...
"Imagine if Cyberpunk 2077 was leaked yesterday and all CD Projekt Red was a logo"
Oh god you dont know how much i hoped this was what had happened.
Getting this video in my reccomended in the middle of the night seems a really bad time for youtube to remind me this channel exists but Its about the company behind half life so there goes my sleep schedule
I'm sorry, this video screwed up my own sleep schedule, so it's only fitting
You're welcome for saving you from buying watchdogs legion lmao. You've genuinely become my favorite guy on youtube, i watched all your vids and have been rewatching them while waiting for this video and they are all great and somehow unique from the others like you. I dont exactly know what makes them unique and so great but you most likely do so keep it up. Great work as always.
Thanks for letting me use your comment, and thanks for inspiring this video (even if that wasn't your intention). I'm glad you like my videos
@@DJPeachCobbler oh I didn’t know I inspired that video, I thought you were always planning on doing it and I just gave you extra content. I’m honored to hear that.
holy fuck that cyberpunk 2077 hit the spot just goddam right
There's no tooth fairy
There's no santa and there's no PART 2
23:45 the cyberpunk joke aged too well lmaooo 😂
Sitting here nine months after he released this video, and honestly I'm super stoked that Peach Cobbler has like 154k subscribers. That's a massive jump man, and your commitment to quality and hilariously cutting content deserved no less. I hope that this growth continues, and I can't wait for what the future holds.

In software engeneering there is what we call AGILE work methodology.
It is basically what you described, yet more complex with taking into account stakeholders and all that administrative gibberish.
In any given AGILE system, teams are often at most composed of 9 people.
If we take exemple on SCRUM, which is by far the most frequently used AGILE system, it dictates that all team must be autonomous.
This is mostly done through daily meetings where everyone can share their though on the current development, and monthly through a retrospective and a review of the work done that month.
All that to say, these kind of systems work.
They can be a pain in the ass, but they work.
Whenever a team is composed of self-thaught modders and whatnot, the development team most likely will struggle to keep pace and crumble into a mess of unworkable puzzle pieces of code and design template.
It is only a guess, but I suppose that this is what happened with Valve at the start.
Software engeneering error margin grows exponentially with the complexity of the product.
AGILE systems are there to constrain some of that eror margin.
yeah I think the whole "modders as devs" didn't made that much of a difference, keep in mind that Romero did basically the same thing with Daikatana but he kept development in the traditional way and it all went to hell like we know today.
I've watched 2/3 of your videos now and man im addicted. PHENOMENAL stuff man. thank you.
Super impressive that 4 months ago he was barely up to 2000 good job if you're reading this mate
Bro he’s hit 100k in two days from now I cannot believe it he truly may be a UA-cam ledgend!
I didn't know about this channel until several days ago and have binged most of his videos already. Here's to hoping his channel grows more.

Damn, I was looking forward to part 2....
Hey man, these videos are awesome, I cannot believe you only have 5k subs. Your content is easily better quality than 90% of most video game focused channels. Keep it up this shit is fantastic.
Great video! Can't wait for the next part!
I just found your channel and I adore the outlook you hold on these games, seeing how the perspective of game devving has always had this stagnating mentality just makes me hope that there will be more chances in the future for early and upcoming studios to develop just like Valve did initially and shake big gaming and entertainment mediums down to their core for the betterment of the player. Keep up the great work!
Valve was in a unique and very enviable position with Gabe Newell and Mike Harrington's wealth behind the studio. I do think it's a really interesting development strategy, and I'd say the results speak for themselves, but it's a big risk. I think it only works with the right people, and actually led, in many ways, to their nearly non-existent output this decade.
But, that'll be in the next video. I'm glad you enjoy my channel, and hope you like Part 2
I truly admire your dedication to keeping the spirit of valve and not posting the second part for almost a year
Edit: more than a year :D
Edit2: more than 2 years :)
It's never getting posted
I like your content. I cna tell you're putting in quite a bit of effort and it shows.
Thanks, although I didn't plan this one well. I was still writing it like an argumentative essay, and I ended up making a rambling mess. I corrected it to some extent later, but I think this video still suffers from that. The writing should be better on part 2
Hey, babe, wake up, new DJ Peach Cobbler video.
What a different world where talented modders got job offers instead of cease and desists.
Thank you for the trip down memory lane... I enjoyed this video a ton.
Brother, i thoroughly enjoyed this creation of yours and I eagerly await the second part of this masterpiss of yours! ❤️❤️👍 thanks for all the hard work man 😊
23:40 aged like fine wine.
"Tie me to a missle and fire me at Tel Aviv, I am ready" is line I qoute far to often
Can’t wait for part 2
I almost cried of joy seeing the "all your history..." Intro.
23:41 is the best foreshadowing I've seen in quite a while.
"And, of course, the silence" - you know there's a joke about the lack of part II in here somewhere
Oh boy can't wait till the second part!
I am wholeheartedly waiting for the next part
DJ Peach Cobbler can only count to one, Valve can only count to two and Psychostick can only count to four. Can't wait for more history and potently videogame content too.
Your vids are amazing. Cant wait for part 2
Waiting for part 2! :)
Amazing video waiting for part 2!!!
Probably will post this on another Vidya but love your humor editing timing and beautiful voice nice and cobnlery hmmm where was I going with this oh yeah.
Love ya hard work man makes me want to do the same in day to day life.
Hey so I was listening to your video and hearing the moment about your father watching your videos made me happy. That your father enjoys what you enjoy doing.
Great video, as usual. Hope you're having a nice day!
Thanks, I am, actually. Hope you have a nice day, too
would love to see part 2
Hey just wanted to congratulate you on the increasing number of subs, I've been practically binge-watching your vids and every time I go into youtube your sub count rises, must be an insane moment for you and I'm so happy you're getting so much well-deserved recognition ;3
He's just popped up for me.. I'm watching through them all
was rewatching some of your videos today, just realized part 2 of this one never got out (if my memory doesnt fail me).
This dude has such a great back catalogue
i love these videos and hope you keep making them cuz they are better then most of the more popular stuff
also H doom nice
Love the godzilla final wars intro with the years ticking by. Classic 🙏
the cabal system of valve is nicely represented in the credits which are a list of all names in alphabetical order, everyone was important for the project to come together, noone is elevated above the rest or shoved underneath which ive always found admirable
Can't wait for part 2 ❤️
Lol.
Lmao even
Holy shitballs that is some growth man love the content
i love how he uses a piano cover for GTA 4's Soviet connection in several videos. Its the reason i Subbed this channel.
That "all your history belongs to us" threw me back into the 11 year old self, that only just discovered that there's other types of gaming videos, than lets plays and fail compilations, and that there is an entire world of gaming, besides the total war franchise...
Fuck you! You got me all nostalgic and shit.
subscribed.
This man truly learned from Valve after all..
Respect
Thanks for very interesting material! I love your visual map of game development hierarchy! From my small experience, this fresh Valve model of communication inside of the team, not only could support innovation and healthy relationships, but mostly save tones of money for publishers. It's sometimes enough to ask an dedicated specialist about some specific issues. But in standard procedure they will ask people on the top, wchich are just more directly related to talking... it's hard to imagine how much money the publishers need to throw though the window because of this conventional methodology of indirect communication. ;)
Congrats on 200k!
At this point, Cobler will release Part 2 on VR. Can't wait!!!
Are you still working on part 2? This is my favorite of your content.
That comment on cyberpunk aged like fine wine
Your videos are a good rewatch

Yoooo lemme get uuuuuh, part 2

Part 2 got that hype
Actually Half Life is just a Documentary of daily life at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) site at the French-Swiss border near Geneva. That makes it the first but not last game to be about CERN.
I keep rewatching these videos mostly because I find the cobbler skits funny.
**all you do is cook bread again**

Thanks for existing, I've got to rewind the video again so I can heat what you said, point is, the time and energy you put into sharing your well thought out interpretations of the world is truly appreciated.
Ancient Rome 2 is my most anticipated sequel of all time and seeing this not get a second half has me worried.
WHERE PART 2!!! I needs it!
“I want to break 2 thousand subscribers by the end of the year” ... lol well you did it man. Congrats.. currently at 72K

That cyberpunk one aged well
Cobbler: "I want to hit 2000 subs before the end of the year."
Well I'm new here so I don't know if you made that goal, but 9 months later you are at +170k subs. Congrats you seem to deserve them.
Dude for real so glad your channel has grown so much, you've put me on so many games I had on the backburner and opened my eyes to how awful ubisoft has become
Waiting for second part of this video, is like waiting for half-life 3
I love how last of us music is just on while talking about a good video game story :)
