I'm not a JoJo fan (as in not very knowledgeable of that show), but this sounds like the type of thing a character would be named after in that insane series. Either that or their stand.
Really enjoyed this one! Feen explains what’s appealing and fun about the Fate franchise better than most of the Internet imho. Also, when watching Case Files I honestly had the same question Cube did - wait, isn’t the “whodunnit” still important?? - but Feen’s explanation finally answered that for me. Better than the anime did.
I can appreciate that papa Animusphere realized that the best way to use his grail wish was just to wish for a mountain of money and use that to make his wish come true I really love the Type-Moon universe and Nasu’s complex chuuni world. It’s neat to see little pieces that were in one part connect to something else years down the line or characters showing up under different circumstances.
as someone who knows next to nothing about Fate, this was still a pleasure to listen to (I'll admit the visuals helped immensely). Even with convoluted or dense properties, listening to people talk about those things passionately is really fun for me, and also I love some friends solving mysteries! :D
This show (both the anime, and your show) is honestly awesome and I hope to see much more stuff like it ❤️ In all seriousness I really love the way this show was adapted… So I’m hoping they give the studio and animators that made it the love and support to make more like it (seeing the Fate VN that has that one furry character in it, get an adaption as good as this one would be great)
Maybe I missed it, but I think you left 'Today's Menu For The Emiya Family' off the big list of FATE properties. That leaves out a critical, foundation part of FATE lore, which is that food is yummy.
As someone whose first impression of FGO was "Wow I hope this shield girl goes away soon (and also Hassan is best boy)" this sounds like the perfect way to enjoy all the fun concepts that Fate has to offer. It's at its best when the writers lean into the convoluted silliness and just have fun within a side story.
Really liked the video, they explored a lot about the magecraft world in Mahoyo (the first thing Nasu wrote on the nasuverse) and I can say they explored it quite a bit in Kara no Kyoukai (Mostly about The Root and Origins etc), I recommend both, KnK has novels and the movies while Mahoyo is still being translated, with the translation pretty close to being finished (U can alredy get chapter 1-8.5 from hollow moon)
This is the third time ive watched this since it came out haha. I would love it for Feen to end up talking more about fate in the future tbh - I love the series but am not super deep on the lore or anything so its very interesting to hear her talk about some of the stuff Im unfamiliar with
One of the things that I really love is the "bs magic how is that effective let alone practical in any way " situations such as (Spoilers) Shirou is fighting Medusa and he's somehow holding his own against her, this is because he somehow manifests Unlimited Blade Works in a way that turns his open wounds into swords and has been sewing his wounds that way. Medusa sees this and kicks him out a window from the third floor and he bursts into swords.
At around 1:21:00 there's discussion of Japanese media saying "doctor." There IS a Japanese word used for "people who have a doctorate" and usefully it's distinct from the word that means "guy who does medicine". It's "hakase". I've had occasion to hear some Japanese voiced Megaman content, in which one may hear either "Doctor Wily" or "Wily hakase".
31:10 Nah, she 100% dealt the final blow 1:01:41 Not completely sure on this but I was under the impression that 6 servants were enough to grant most wishes and that upon sacrificing all 7 servants, the grail literally gains sentience in order to grant the master's wish for them without the need of a servant to operate it, like with what happened in Apocrypha
having watched Unlimited Blade Works and Zero I am very happy to receive the rest of my fate education from Feen. Cause I've definitely never even heard of this spin off.
"Hephastion"'s design is just straight up Alexander's from FGO btw. Also surprised you didn't mention the fact that Flat would have been considered such a menace that the world would straight up kill him if he wasn't taught by Waver lol. I have a fondness for these novels and I really love Gray (wish she could resolve things with Svin at some point) but, oh my God, everytime Waver goes on magic info dump mode I want to kill him. I want to enjoy the technicalities but it's all just so overwhelming and only quarter of what he says is actually relevant to what point is being made. Oh yeah, Fate/strange fake is the only spin off without a saber face, though Hippolyta has the bun for some reason even though Narita said that that's not the case Edit: no wait, fate/requiem also doesn't have a saberface, but considering the setting is that everyone gets a servant I wouldn't be too surprised if an old one pops up in the later volumes
I still say there just isn't a good way to get into Fate. Every entry path has some problem. But the characters are always rich and interesting, so every entry path has some enjoyable qualities. Sometimes the characters are forced to fight in horrible situations and you see how they hold up, sometimes they just hang out and have fun. You see everyone from multiple angles. So just watch whatever you think looks good.
For the first 58 minutes of this video I fully believed that "Rail Zeppelin" was a character's name.
Don't feel bad; for the first year of playing the gacha, I 100% thought that "Waver" was _not_ a character name, but a term for AOE attacks.

That's high praise, thanks Nenena!
I adore this series (LN and anime) and loved hearing you guys talk about it. :) I enjoy your chill but fun dynamic!

Aww thanks, that's great to hear!
This is the first time I have actually understood FATE.
This show (both the anime, and your show) is honestly awesome and I hope to see much more stuff like it ❤️

The only thing i wish this episode prepared me for was that a cat dies in the first episode.
El Melloi: Case Files is vastly underrated and mismarketed, if it had Fate branding it would've been huge. It's Fate/CSI, and I love that about it.
Maybe I missed it, but I think you left 'Today's Menu For The Emiya Family' off the big list of FATE properties. That leaves out a critical, foundation part of FATE lore, which is that food is yummy.
FUCK YOU'RE RIGHT THAT'S MY OTHER FAVOURITE FATE SERIES - Feen
"The Star Student of the Clock Tower Has A Girlfriend-King And A Live-In Himbo Who Can Cook: Today's Menu For The Emiya Family."
I love how 2/3rds of this video is explaining fate lore and the last third is concerned with the actual events of the story lol
look
37:10 w-wait is that why it's called unlimited blade works

Ahh, interesting. Sensible to have a separate word from the medical meaning too.
No new slushie?🥤
They're on the way!

I miss you guys :(
I’m surprised you guys haven’t done a podcast about Platinum End. Someone made a video titling their review of the anime “even legends can make trash“
23:27 killed me with Violet. PTSD Saber all the way.
Omg i also learned about the Canterbury tales prologue in school for the same reason Feen did, it had a great character set up
having watched Unlimited Blade Works and Zero I am very happy to receive the rest of my fate education from Feen. Cause I've definitely never even heard of this spin off.
Haha no problem! Just beware I've prob got some details wrong here or there, I can really only be trusted for The Vibe
@@whereditallgo That's all good, you put out good vibes! also I watched zero a decade ago, so The Vibe is definitely my level of working knowledge
