My theory for why Homura is jumping around like that in the scene where she's chasing Sayaka's soul gem is that she's trying to throw Kyubey off the trail. We already know from earlier in the episode that Kyubey is starting to have suspicions about what Homura's powers are, and by jumping around like that instead of simply grabbing the gem right away, she's trying to reinforce the idea that her power is teleportation.

if you are still interesting in checking out symphogear, id recommend checking out the manga which is basically a condensed version of the first season which would make an interesting contrast

It’s so nice to finally see someone talking about this anime the way I saw it. I found it so stupid that the anime sold itself as a “dark look into the real idol industry” but then still portray Ai as a perfect pure sunshine cinnamon roll. I don’t understand how or why she would be so upbeat and positive the entire time despite talking to her manager and doctor who dont have to be entertained. It’s also always a bad sign when the character used to promote an anime isn’t the main character

Ngl, I wasn’t a fan of the final season. As someone who played the mobile game, I was pissed off. In the mobile game, nobody remembered Ui and nobody was sacrificed at the end. Ui and her friends sacrificing themselves at the end completely renders Iroha’s journey pointless. Not helped by the WW version of the mobile game for shutdown after the 1 year anniversary which was right after the end of the first arc and its epilogue. So nobody outside of Japan will get to experience the second arc of the mobile game.

Hikaru's sacrifice reminds me of Ellen in the lucifer comics, a young lady who becomes god and rebuilds the world after sacrificing herself

The story in the anime... I couldn't understand it, until I watched an analysis breakdown video. There's a lot of non-obvious color theory and tarot card references. It goes surprisingly deep, but at the same time very confusing unless you already know about these things

Honestly I don't really agree about the outfit, I don't really see a problem with it? I am a girl too btw so I am not just some guy that doesn't understand, but I honestly don't mind things like that as long as it has a reason in world for that to happen and isn't inherently you know... Sexist, but with both the explanation in world, the fact that her blood line are succubi, and the reasonable reactions happening in the show, I consider it perfectly fair. it also has a reason for still being around as well for until she can figure out some other way around it and the rules that her bloodline has, which at least in the manga she has tried to do.

I managed to make it through episode 1 and half of episode 2. Its just bad. Strangely enough, its so bad that its no longer in the "so-bad its good" category for me. I can't describe it. I very much ENJOYED Elfen-Lied, it was charmingly bad, and I would consider it similar to this. An edgy guy who takes himself very seriously, writes a story and fails miserably at every turn, edgy demon-cat girls versus edgy magical girls... I've described (very lovingly) to people that Elfen-Lied is the anime equivalont of "The Room" but this show just sucked and I felt my soul being sucked out of my body watching it.

Well it was fun and far more satisfying than that podcast that anime podcast that didn’t talk about anime and ate a lot of food you two are really funny I’ll come back and hope you two cover rwby volume 9 if that information is confirmed

There’s a gross old trope where they used to try to represent autism with robots a lot, but it never really works and tends to be deeply problematic. I kinda feel like Key was one of those cases.

OH GOD THAT NONO MANGA WAS BY THE SAME GUY??? I read that shit years ago and its genuinely one of the worst things to ever be on a trans reccommendations list, I was like "did you even read it??" People praising stuff as supposedly woke just for having a trans character regardless if its bigoted is just.. UGH. Also the entire fuckin series calls Nono a boy anyway until after she gets the surgery, which KILLS HER, so geezzz how could anyone mistake this for pro trans?

Didn't the Chiemi starve herself trying to be thin? (Checks wiki) yeah, That's an important reflection of the damage the idol girl did. She would have had such a long drawn out death. She could have died of anorexia or ended herself while feeling it was useless. Either way it wasn't quick. She was noticeably thin.

The movie undercut its own “Mario was cool all along, actually” message when Mario never accomplished ANYTHING without the help of a power-up. Peach and even Luigi (in his one moment with the garbage can shield) did heroic things without power-ups. But Mario never did. There are so many ways that the simple-ass story of this movie could have been improved with just, like, one or two tweaks. For example, they could have set things up like Disney’s Mulan where Mario is established early on to be creative and clever. And then in the Mushroom Kingdom, it could set you up to think that Mario would instantly become a cool hero with the power-ups, but no! When Mario tries to use the power-ups to brute force his way through the obstacle course or against Donkey Kong, it doesn’t work! Because it turns out that brute force isn’t how Mario wins. But THEN Mario uses his creativity and cleverness to use the power-ups in creative and clever ways. You know, like you sometimes have to do in the game! I mean, that would still a dumb basic story, but it could be a dumb basic story that’s more engaging than “Mario is awesome and then his dad realizes that he’s awesome.”

I am sad to report that I have TWO second-hand copies of Rayearth 2, and neither of them have anything written in the final page. :( But then again I bought those copies specifically because they were in excellent condition, so they were almost certainly not read or beloved by an actual child.

Apparently Witch From Mercury had an... interesting time in production. Corporate was always some degree of anti-Miorine/Suletta shipping, particularly when they became engaged in the show right around when gay marriage was a bit of a hot political issue in japan... but the entire creative team saw them as a couple the whole way through. So the show goes back and forth on it in a very artificial and confusing way because there's a tug of war behind the scenes.

A few spin off manga do show Sayaka surviving to the moment when Homura resets that timeline, but that's usually because some other outside source of interference has killed Madoka before Sayaka had the chance to (And also always long before Walpurgis would have showed up.).

Also I feel like more people latched onto Momoe being straight and her and Kaoru reciprocating each other's feelings, more than just the jacket? But Kaoru's backstory absolutely isn't treated with the respect such a horrific scenario deserves.
