The first season of MagiReco was Not Good but you could sense there was a good show trying to get out, if only the story weren't so busy and cluttered. The second and third season seemed like Inu Curry vomited on their computer monitor the night before deadline and said, "Good enough."

Do you think Alina would like the children's hospital meme
Also, in the game, didn't they just interrogate Kyubey directly which is why they know about magical girls turning into witches and stuff? Rather than doing some detective work beforehand? Like I could see them figuring it out of they just grabbed him and spent all their hospital time quizzing him relentlessly and the chain of questions eventually leads them to realizing magical girls become witches because Kyubey doesn't lie.

Reading the interviews after the anime really made me feel bad for the producers of this adaptation. They loved the game and wanted to make an anime that was faithful to it and explore all the possibilities of the Magia Record timeline. However, Aniplex said they could only do Arc 1 and in only 25 episodes. The result was a mess of an original story in the later half of the anime, with a lot of rushing and scrambling to make sense of things, as the directors tried to make a story that could be wrapped up in one arc, even if it had to end in a failed timeline to be taken into the LoC.
And it sucks, because the game's Arc 2 is an amazing followup to Arc 1's happy ending, showing that not all is well and there are consequences to that ending. There are many Magical Girls that are after the Doppel System for one reason or another.
There's Promised Blood, who suffered because of the Witch drought in their city, caused by the Magius taking Witches from everywhere. There's Neo Magius, a group of pathetic girls who are inspired by the Magical Girl supremacist ideals that Touka and Nemu once upheld. The Tokime Clan, some backwater villagers whose village actually knows about Magical Girls and have a culture centered on them.
There's a looooot of interesting stuff that goes on in Arc 2, and I think you guys would really like it. And thanks to the Magia Union Translations UA-cam channel, English-speakers can experience the story without playing the game. So could you read it and give your thoughts?

@@sg4456Alas, the aftermath of the Puella Historia arc has left a sour taste in my mouth.
I have many problems and the events that focused on said aftermath hasn’t improved my opinion. The most darning thing was the painfully arbitrary and cheap way they brought back Iroha and Ui from their ascension to godhood.

Memory drops feels like it’s trying to have the story regress right back to Arc 2’s beginning.

It kinda makes sense that the vast majority of girls would witch out immediately, otherwise you'd run out of witches to fight. But also since they're just doing whatever with Madoka now, I want to see a version where Homura brings Kyubey before the UN for being an alien who's tricking a bunch of human kids into dying.

Also, Feen's experience has been my friend's with Space Lesbian War Crimes Academy.

While I understand the fear of G-Witch not sailing the ship... there is a scene where Mio specifies she only rejects men, a tie in novel shows us she had a girlfriend before the Holder system was put in place, and there's an extended sequence of Suletta rambling about how their wedding is going to go down. It's... POSSIBLE that one of them might die, but at this point, with one episode left, it feels really unlikely.
Now excuse me while I perform like 50 different luck rituals to ensure I didn't jinx things.

Given the track record of the script writer, how the anime killed off characters, how the anime just finished off many plot points at break neck speed and how the anime industry as a whole deal with LGBT portrayals, for me, it's still like 50/50 in terms of getting a happy ending for the couple.

im pretty sure i have a hc to explian dopples and the dopple system more thoughly
i belive its stated by the magius that the current dopple system is flawed and is not working as they planned it to be, the original plan was for ui to collect the impurities (i assume right as theyre about to witch), touka converts the impurities into a useable energy which nemu relases into the world thus solving the entropy problem magicalgirls were originally made to fix in the first place.
but because i belive ui dosent have enough Karma or potential for her power it went wild and out of her control thus fucking the plan up. i belive origonally dopples dident intend to exist, theyre just the biproduct of the flawed purification system. the original plan was for when purities get built up enough where a magical girl would typically witch, the energy produced from that would still come out just not in a way that would be harmful to the magical girl. but this is just what i gathered after following the series and pooring over the stated facts and occurances among the series

Happy to hear that ADHD meds have done well for Feen! They've done similar things for me and I can't imagine life without them.
Strangely enough I really enjoy the really darkly fucked ending they managed to come up with for magireco. It almost feels on brand in a way? But the ramifications of this whole series does make me worried for Rebellion 2, whenever that happens.
If y'all want Actually Good mahous, I HIGHLY recommend Healer Girl! It's a freaking MUSICAL. About magical girl doctors!! And it's cute and very gay and it makes me happy.

Ngl, I wasn’t a fan of the final season. As someone who played the mobile game, I was pissed off. In the mobile game, nobody remembered Ui and nobody was sacrificed at the end.
Ui and her friends sacrificing themselves at the end completely renders Iroha’s journey pointless. Not helped by the WW version of the mobile game for shutdown after the 1 year anniversary which was right after the end of the first arc and its epilogue. So nobody outside of Japan will get to experience the second arc of the mobile game.

I wish the show was a lot more liminal (read: something else entirely instead of a madoka spin off) because then i would be drooling over the nonsense going on.
But its madoka! The architecture was always like somewhat ridiculous but it was ridiculous in an "first year architecture student's idea of good building" instead of "bodies in a grid".
Specially since like, the point is that even with the fucked up weird 20XX scifi setting it just helps to make the labyrinths even weirder in a "think this building is fucked up? Well get ready for THIS". Magia record doesnt have that, at all. I could make an entire essay about how the set design in PMMM is A lot but in a good way instead of the "more is more" approach of magia record

I'm pretty sure Yachio's weird curse cop-out (or nice sentiment) is directly from the game. IIRC, during the big final push cutscene where they make a big ol crossbow bolt, Yachio up and randomly decides "my curse was actually the power to carry the hopes of other girls, and that is my contribution the the events that are presently unfolding" or something to that effect.
It's nice that the show did something with that idea beyond "Yachio gives herself the power to shove mahou wishes into a magic arrow," but the fact that it's referenced at all makes me wonder if they wanted to improve on it by changing the context, or did they think that this weirdly specific line from the game needed to be referenced or the fans would riot?

    • @sg4456
      @sg4456 Рік тому +2

It wasn't random in the game though. It was built up through a subplot where it's stated that Magical Girls lose their power over time once they reach adulthood, and it's why Mifuyu was getting desperate to save herself and many others no matter how shady the Magius were. Yachiyo is an anomaly because she didn't get weaker, she got a fuckton stronger somehow, and it's noted to be unusual.
The biggest moment from the game is where she fights with Holy Mami, where she hears Kanae and Mel's voices and then gets a power boost to match Holy Mami's firepower and get the better of her. And this is how she comes to know that her power is to carry the hopes of dead friends and be empowered by them.
The anime seriously messed this up by not referring to the getting weaker when older thing, and also the heavy rewrites making Yachiyo vs Holy Mami not a thing, which meant no forshadowing for this empowerment ability and it coming off more like a way to hastily wrap up Yachiyo's arc in some pseudo-hopeful way because they killed Mifuyu and Momoko without giving them proper closure with Yachiyo, closure which the game was better about.
GOD, I love Yachiyo, and they fucking did her dirty in the end.
