Well done. Latency also dictates aim assist which can severely handicap players with low pings. So, for instance, if you live in the Netherlands and you draw the NL server, you will have very little aim assist in conjunction with the issue that you've elegantly illustrated in this video. When I mentioned the aim felt off on the Insider, I was informed that I was incorrect. Glad to see somebody providing "tangible proof" although this will likely fall on deaf ears unless it's constantly reiterated to 3v4industries.

Hi mate, thanks for the comment! I tweeted Sketch but I don't think he's likely to see it, and the reddit thread got buried pretty quick. Not sure how else to raise it.
I think the exact same accelerated zones are also on the left stick, I went into more detail in the big comment in response to Randolph if you're interested. Let me know if you spot anything!

Very nicely explained, especially with the pc demonstration showing the controller to be perfectly functional

Wasn’t this always like this in og halo 2 and 3?

After this comment, I went and checked in Halo CE, 2, 3 and 4, and you are 100% correct, the aiming issue is identical in the original games and, as with the MCC, absent from 4. The issue therefore lies with the way the original games were coded, and the MCC aiming is completely accurate to the original games.
Thank you so much for this comment!

Very concisely explained. I was unaware of any such issue existing (largely because I don't own MCC), but the software engineer in me thinks you're onto something with the acceleration being added. Of course, whether that's as easy to fix as it is to explain is a whole 'nother story, who knows how spaghetti their code is. Glad to see some content! Looking forward to more!

And well said I Total agree what you said 100% that’s what it should be like how you explained it the aiming

I'm not exactly sure how the aim works, but maybe the Bungie Halos feel smoother in their original form because they were 30 FPS, where we may not have noticed as much. I remember when MCC first came out people were saying they couldn't do certain jumps because of the change in FPS, or at least had to do them differently. It could be that the aim acceleration is off in the left stick as you stated, change in FPS might be causing both aim and movement issues. Just a thought

No Strings Prd! Do you have Discord?

Hey! I do have discord, but I don't really join servers, I'm a huge introvert :)

Hey someone posted this vid to reddit and I saw it there. Honestly my first instinct would be the controllers are the problem. If the games code is the same as the original releases (H1, H2, and H3) then the only constant variable that makes sense would be an issue within the controllers themselves or, more likely, the way the older code base utilizes the inputs. Im curious if you were to test a 360 controller and an Xbox One controller on PC would the sticks register the same way in their complete range of motion. Put a slightly more in depth explanation/theory on reddit here: www.reddit.com/r/halo/comments/9hrlus/the_mcc_aiming_issue_it_seems_the_aiming_is_more/e6eqdhu/

Very interesting read, cheers! Sounds likely that the difference in three gens worth of sticks could be the source. I do have a control converter that should work with Xbone, once work quiets down I'll try sending the Duke, 360 and One down it (the latter as control) and see how MCC reacts.

No Strings Prd also has me curious about if the new duke controller works the same way as the old one

Just tested the new Hyperkin Duke. Behaves exactly the same as the Xbone, exact same accelerated zones. I'll try out an original Duke and 360 via converter over the weekend

So I tested the Hyperkin Duke, it works exactly the same, has the same accelerated zones as the Xbone, completely identical.
I was just playing some MCC Halo 3, and I'm starting to think the same accelerated zones are on the left stick as well. It's very difficult to tell because of the in-game friction and generally how the movement is calculated, but I'm sure I'm moving faster diagonally when held at just the right angle, the same angles as the right stick. It's really subtle, but it's definitely there in CE, 2 and 3, 2A seems fine. The sweetspot is in the same angle as the right stick, but only around the middle of the stick since your movement speed is capped whereas I don't think your speed sensitivity is, it just changes a multiplier. But it's there, I'm confident of it. Hold the stick as 50 and gently go round in circles. You don't jolt forward they way the aiming does because of intertia in movement, but you do start going faster in diagonals.
Got a busy workweek, but I'll take another look when I can.

Set the analog sticks to southpaw in the settings. It swaps what the analog sticks do

This video is pretty old, the MCC had an update yesterday that completely fixes the issues laid out in the video, give it a go!

4 years later and you can't aim as well as Halo CE from 2001. So happy I have never supported 343. Colossal failure.

Did some tests today on the original game discs following a comment, this aiming issue exists in the original CE, 2 and 3 as well, which means that the MCC is 100% accurate to the originals, we're just now used to the better controls of modern games. I'm going to do some more tests and do a follow up video, but from the looks there's nothing to be done.
