Someone NEEDS to make a campaign mod ASAP, that has Chief starting the game in his Old Armor, Old Weapons, etc and has him upgrade to the new stuff when he reaches the Infinity.

Just give this mission the Halo 3 Weapons & UNSC vehicles, and the plot holes are fixed. No need to change the Covenant vehicles & weapons to their Halo 3 counterparts, but I would change the covenant voices to that of Halos 2 & 3.
Not only that, but change Chief's armor back to the Mark VI permutation from Halo 2 and 3. Then when Chief reaches Infinity, he is given his new set of armor.

This is something the new Halos have been missing. The soundtrack in the newer ones have not been bad by any means whatsoever but it really doesn’t have many tracks that make you go “It’s been a long time but I still remember when this exact track played in the game” like the original trilogy did

Yeah I don’t think the new tracks are bad but halo tracks and gameplay always go hand and hand, but also not just that in halo the music has always decided everything and in halo 4 and 5 we get good tracks that play in the background but they don’t really control the scenes like the old halos did halo infinite so far has shown they kinda get it now. Like when chief gets a badass gun you don’t just play a badass track, you play a track that complements the situation and amplifies it. Best example is Kats death and warthog chase, also the lack of music with Nobel six fighting to the death.
I'm fairly critical of Halo 4 and 343, but this moment in particular (emerging from the caves to find Requiem's landscapes spread before you) is one of the highlights of the series, IMO

Serious, maybe, but a tone that's dead serious doesn't automatically mean "more mature" which I think is the main thing that the new Halo games misunderstood when trying to recreate the atmosphere and feeling of the old games. A dash of humor and horror, as well as the human element of good Marine banter and snappy Cortana/Sgt. Johnson dialogue, made the originals unique and memorable.

While having nostalgia attached to this game (it was my first Halo experience), I cannot argue against the awesome dedication these modders have. In hindsight, it would've been cool starting with the old and progressing to the new aesthetic. Hopefully this mod will be fun for PC players despite the fact I'm stuck (like many others) on console.
Yup, slowly ease into things- i 💯 percent agree. Having the old BR, AR, and warthog before getting all the new stuff when infinity arrives, while the music also slowly becomes more and more like it was in H4.
this would make sense from a lore standpoint, because technically we haven't been on a newer ship with the weapon advancements 4 years later of the Dawns armory. i wish it was the same for the armor too

halo 3 to this day looks extremely nice on high settings. the smooth art style with the emphasis on bloom, it always stood out to me even coming from a 2007 game. everything just blended together nicely, idk how to describe it.
When I first saw it back in 2008, it was the most graphically amazing game I'd ever seen. I remember being in complete awe that they could make the light shine off of the plasma rifle at different angles depending on where you were facing. I'd never seen such dynamic lighting like that in a game before. I'm so glad my sister's then new boyfriend (now fianceé with 2 children) lended it to me as an excited 11/12 year old. Tbf I was expecting Halo to be a horror game as the only thing I had heard about Halo before then was of the flood. For a brief moment I was actually disappointed and turned off of the game because of the weird kiddie sounding dorito monkeys and the giant gorilla wookies that followed them around. Even now I think it holds up nicely purely because of how balanced its arcadey look is with the realism. It's not trying to look too realistic but also benefits from nice textures, colours and animations. Compared to halo 2 it looks like a whole different series. Save for the humans, they look a bit weird. With the modern MCC and the graphics updates + mods it looks unreal, as if it was a small studio game made in 2021.

I appreciate the sentiment but oddly enough the 343-era music fits so much better with this moment than some random track from Halo 3. Leaving that cave and seeing the huge towers with the awesome Requiem theme playing in the background is one of the most memorable moments in the Halo series
It would of been far better to have started with old Halo tunes on the Dawn. Crash land on the planet with a more disturbing whispering rendition of Finish the Fight. Have Master Chief stumble across dying scouts for the Infinity and have them be like... "In my dying breath.... I lay before a legend.". Just so players feel that warmth of old classic Halo and as you approach Requirems landscape Finish the Fight plays its iconic notes and leads into the normal theme.
Honestly better. Now to fix the enemies and marine skins and possibly the worthog. And you’ve got yourself something actually more worthy. Date of completion: 2050

Everything was at its peak, custom games, community features, themes, music, characters, you name it. Not even reach was able to beat out 3 in most areas but it at least tried to expand on features present in halo 3. However 343 for the life of them cannot do this because they are fucking inept and every single halo game since reach has shipped and will continue to ship with less features and overall content.
No matter how much people dislike halo 4. I absolutely love it's graphic design. It's a beautiful game and it looked great even on the ol Xbox 360. That scene is one of the most beautiful things I've seen in the halo franchise

Considering that fact that 343 was basically just the part of bungie that decided to stay with microsoft I dont think there would be any differences. The artstyle and gameplay was already changing with halo wars, halo reach and halo anniversary.
I have absolutely no idea why I started getting so many halo recommends but it's really made me want to go back and play all the missions start to end. I think I'll go ahead and do that now
If 343 transitioned the art styles from the old to the new when Chief linked up with the Infinity (including using the right art styles in the opening cutscene), I probably would have given Halo 4 an 8/10 instead of a 7/10. That, plus Chief saying “I thought we made a truce with the ELITES” at the beginning of the game as opposed to him saying “I thought we made a truce with the Covenant”
I mean tbf, they did make a truce with the Elites only. I would imagine the Covenant was pretty pissed at humanity still. Which is why we have the Banished now.

I have to defend Halo 4 here a bit. The soundtrack in this very scene was one of the strongpoints for me. The whole first "alone on an alien world" chapter was Halo 4´s strongest asset. I loved how Alien the Prometheans were in the beginning.
Tbh chief should've woke up in his old suit with the halo 3 hud and overtime have the player upgrade the armor. This would make sense and tie 3 and 4 a bit more smoothly.
You forgot the part where they remove 50% of the content and have you pay 60$ for a new story expansion that lasts 50 minutes and a battlepass that add one activity you will repeat for 300 hours until you go insane.
Bungie never had a battle pass or DLC stories for Halo (ODST is MAYBE a slight exception, but as a 6-hour campaign that brings a new game mode as well, I don't count it).

Well if you didn't know Bungie was originally going to make Halo 4 before they instead made Reach.. But, Bungie back then was starting to fall as the company that people thought we loved, after their lawsuit with Microsoft and then losing the rights to Halo and selling the franchise to Microsoft.
I'm kinda glad bungie didn't make it especially for the story because if bungie made it the story they probably woudnt break down the chiefs character. Also I actually like the new weapon sounds and some of the designs not the halo 4 Br tho
They’re still really good today. Destiny has its flaws but the entire fanbase is almost in agreement that the visuals and sounds of the game certainly aren’t one of them.

They only mod I would want to is to change Chief’s armor back to something more keen to Halo 3 and some of the sounds. Maybe change the BR too even though I like the H4 design.

@@ryanschmidt58 I think everything 343 has done has gone against the wishes of old bungie, my point is that halo doesnt need to reinvent the wheel, what was in 3 is the peak and they just need to build off of that. Everything was at its peak, custom games, community features, themes, music, characters, you name it. Not even reach was able to beat out 3 in most areas but it at least tried to expand on features present in halo 3. However 343 for the life of them cannot do this because they are fucking inept and every single halo game since reach has shipped and will continue to ship with less features and overall content.

Considering that fact that 343 was basically just the part of bungie that decided to stay with microsoft I dont think there would be any differences. The artstyle and gameplay was already changing with halo wars, halo reach and halo anniversary.

If 343 transitioned the art styles from the old to the new when Chief linked up with the Infinity (including using the right art styles in the opening cutscene), I probably would have given Halo 4 an 8/10 instead of a 7/10. That, plus Chief saying “I thought we made a truce with the ELITES” at the beginning of the game as opposed to him saying “I thought we made a truce with the Covenant”

I have to defend Halo 4 here a bit. The soundtrack in this very scene was one of the strongpoints for me. The whole first "alone on an alien world" chapter was Halo 4´s strongest asset. I loved how Alien the Prometheans were in the beginning.

Tbh chief should've woke up in his old suit with the halo 3 hud and overtime have the player upgrade the armor. This would make sense and tie 3 and 4 a bit more smoothly.
You forgot the part where they remove 50% of the content and have you pay 60$ for a new story expansion that lasts 50 minutes and a battlepass that add one activity you will repeat for 300 hours until you go insane.
Bungie never had a battle pass or DLC stories for Halo (ODST is MAYBE a slight exception, but as a 6-hour campaign that brings a new game mode as well, I don't count it).

Well if you didn't know Bungie was originally going to make Halo 4 before they instead made Reach.. But, Bungie back then was starting to fall as the company that people thought we loved, after their lawsuit with Microsoft and then losing the rights to Halo and selling the franchise to Microsoft.
I'm kinda glad bungie didn't make it especially for the story because if bungie made it the story they probably woudnt break down the chiefs character. Also I actually like the new weapon sounds and some of the designs not the halo 4 Br tho

They’re still really good today. Destiny has its flaws but the entire fanbase is almost in agreement that the visuals and sounds of the game certainly aren’t one of them.

Halo 4 was enjoyable(I personally loved the campaign) it was more so the artstyle and mp that wasn't received well by the fans and tbh again this is a personal opinion I didn't mind either the mp I had tons of fun with it wasn't true to the trilogy but for what it was I had fun with it and before anyone says anything, no 4 was not my first halo game, CE was and it's been my favorite franchise by far ever since I first played it as a kid then 2,3, odst and so on

Halo 4s campaign gameplay, against both Covenant and Prometheans is some of the worst in the series, the sandbox balancing is atrocious, the levels are terribly designed, the AI is an absolute joke, the game just plays like a poor mans generic cover shooter Call of Duty game with a cheap Halo skin.

because the reach assault rifle and the halo 3 assault rifle are different guns. 3 is the MA5C, reach is the MA37.
