I think these trains are proving that UK train design is too caught up in tradition and convention. These trains don't really follow any design norms like having 2 doors per coach or an 1100mm floor height, and they're all the better for it.
Class 701s do have a top speed of 100mph. Only route a unit like this would suit is Waterloo to Weymouth. even the Pompy service is a bit like a semi suburban route with plenty of stops and more suited to the 450s. Perhaps if the route to Exeter was to be electrified (fat chance I know) beyond Basingstoke, they could suit that. The 701s will spend most of their time shuttling from Waterloo to Chessington South, Dorking, Guildford via Epsom, Cobham or Woking, the Kingston loop, the Hounslow loop, Shepperton, Reading, etc
I like these trains at speed because they make a kind of wooing noise when the carriages pass by, which remind me of the e300s. 1:51
Its a roof mounted fan. Sounds like the class 465
I like how it honks at 0:10
The 745 looks so futuristic and that's why I like it
0:05 thats really satisfying to watch the train navigate that piece of track, great video!
I love Flirts, Polish (i live in Poland) Flirts sound great and they look nice, i love the door sounds of flirts too
not very often do i get to see one go straight into boost on departure, so 4:50 is an incredibly pleasing clip to me
Great video, the only ones i not seen are 745103 and 745108, luckily i m only 42 miles from Norwich so guess i will see them one day soon.
Looking forward to see a few of them in October on a railtour while on a short break at Norwich. I will return there sometime in 2021 on a day out.

Despite only having one door section per coach, these are still nice

Great video, I have thought these to be a weird train but they are nice.
The massive hole at the front looks a bit odd as its like someone could just walk up and pull the coupler out the trains mouth 🤷🏼♂️😂
Very good video! Thumbs up!
Thanks

damn why dont SWT get these nice 100 mph trains instead of those slow and badly made 701s?
Because the 745s are express trains and the 701s r meant for suburban routes only.

@@neilcrawford8303 To be fair the 745/1's feels more like a commuter train
@@kk-transport is that the Stansted express version?
EXUSE ME?
Very weird these trains. Very quick although the seats are quite hard. Not ideal for Norwich services. Nothing beats an old Mk3
