- This Rexing M2 dash cam is also a full featured smart rear view mirror. It functions as a regular reflective mirror when the screen in inactive, but powers up showing a front or rear view of your choice at anytime. It also features some smart safety features your older car may not have like blind spot and vehicle detection for added driving aids. The rear camera is waterproof if you want to mount it outside and also has built in backup camera functionality with just a single wire tap in to one of your reverse light bulbs.

That camera looks good at night. I really want a dash cam with back up cam in my car. The hardest part is picking one. I'm really considering this one. It's in my online cart at best buy right now. Lol
So glad you went through all the features too! Thanks
It was sitting in my bestbuys cart as well. I just pulled the trigger a couple of days ago.
@@johnvela201 5 months later, how do you like it? If you still have it ofc lol.
I love my cam bust buy just instaled mine
Should i get this one or Vantrue N4?
Can you share how effective the blindspot detection is for lane-changing specifically?
not that great. Or maybe Im setting it up wrong
How can I remove my Sd card from it to clear the data off on my computer so I don’t drain my cars battery of fuel or waist my time individually deleting each one.
You don’t do either of those. Just format it. Takes 5 seconds.
The SD card removes the same as any other device. Just push on it and release
@@tomaskey6844 okay thanks.I have fat fingers so I used a tweezer to push down for it to release
Can you do a video on the smart drive features and while driving? There really is no reviews on these features and I would like to see how it works. Great video!!
Could you post a link to that smart cable you mentioned for parking monitoring?
Rear camera quality is not good blurry
This unit has Bluetooth Options, does it include the ability to monitor the Cameras from your Phone?
I have the rearview mirror cam installed but during the day, it is SO hard to see because of the glare. Do you know how to fix that? I can't find any anti-glare film for the size of mirror it is
I have it as well and that is true
Looking at purchasing this dash cam I'm using the V1P and it's not as great as I thought which is hardwire so I am hoping that the m2 mirror will connect right up and not have to re- hardwire my 2019 camaro again.
Hey there! We've released our new M3 dash cam and was wondering if you'd review it
When will you upgrade the rear camera to 2.7k like the Pelsee? I’m still watching reviews and the rear view is my priority.
Thank you so much for making this invaluable video. It was super helpful and put my mind at ease with purchasing this item.
The fact that you had to "lower" the rear view mirror makes it a deal killer for me. I am 6'1", and I always move the mirror as high as possible so that I can see through the windshield.
I like that the icons in this particular unit are coloured. All other ones that I saw in others' reviews were just icons with no colours. Nice review too!
Thanks for the video. I could not figure out how to set up the smart : the set up requires that you align some kind of horizon, sides, hood lines while driving on the highway. Highways here are far too busy to do that without risking someone’s life.
Another amazing review. Thanks!
Front camera and rear camera quality are different
Can you give me any info on which cable you used, and where to get it?
Just placed my order on Amazon with a $30 coupon 👍🏿
Great review thanks for the deep dive!
My time zones all say GMT (General Mountain Time, in different hours displayed. Why no PST? Pacific standard time? Also, the voice activation system is annoying, I can barely understand what she's saying with that strong accent. Can we change the voice? or we you have to just disable it? For a 200-dollar product, I need to understand what the voice prompts are saying and be able to take it out of military time mode. No option for that either.
can hot weather over 100 can affect these cam? what do you think ?
No issues here in fl sun
Can I add a different rear camera to this unit? I'd like a wider angle for backup cam
no
I got one of these (not this brand) for a gift. I’ll be hooking it up in my dumb car this weekend.
does anyone know why my sd card never reads? i’ve bought 2 different sd cards thinking it was the actual sd that’s the problem. reformatted them, sacrificing footage just cause i thought that may have been the issue. but everytime i take the sd card out and stick in my apple lightning port sd card reader, it’s like it’s not even there. nothing. my sd card that i have from my old dashcam works fine. what’s going on? didn’t have this issue the first few months i bought this dashcam. it’s like every sd card i put in this dashcam instantly corrupts it making it unreadable. this defeats the purpose of having a dashcam if i can’t gain access to the footage. someone hit me today and i had to literally just record the playback from the cam with my phone. cause i knew the sd wouldn’t read.
You said it was a normal mirror also but it seemed so blurry to me, is there a plastic film covering the mirror ? I did not see a crystal clear image coming off the mirror ?
It's not going to be as clear as a straight mirror
Your point needs to be emphasized. Just because it reflects really doesn't speak to how good it is and this one is really no different than some others, it is 'blurry' and does not do the job a glass mirror does, especially at night.
That is what I tough also. You clarified this item a lot better.
does this have endless recording like if it was security camera at front door? while driving and parked? good lord where do i store the saved recordings or how does this work?? im trying to find best dash cam from bestbuy this is listed
It has been a complete mission for me to find the right dash cam because I keep running into the wrong ones that do not fit my comfort and working environment. What do you guys recommend? I get that connects your phone has rear and also a good regular Dashcam.
Nice!
Damm I got the one that shuts down. I wanted the one that stays on all the time
So if you don't have the parking mode cable, I can't leave this plugged in while I'm at work? It'll drain my battery?
Does that red dot flash continuously while the mirror is loop recording? It seems like the flashing dot would be annoying.
Which dash cam should I get that connects to my phone has rear cam and a good amount of storage
Just had Best Buy replace my poorly-functioning VanTop rearview mirror dashcam with the Rexing M2. Mostly like it but the brightness of the rear view camera isn't nearly as bright as in this video, and I have it turned all the way up to level 5. Any suggestions on improving this?
Dim screen in bright daylight is a problem with mine, looking here for a solution.
it has the support of the Russian
language?
What rear view system would you recommend for a 2021 Ram Promaster City van with no rear windows? An actual mirror is not required, so I would like a 12” screen like the Rexing M2, no back up lines needed as it does have the stock back up camera. I just want a full time camera so I can see my blind spots, which in a van with no rear or side windows is a lot!
Does this record front and back at the same time?
yes
Thank you, The users manual leaves a lot to be desired.
Hi. How is this operating now? 2023. Is not still powering and function ok? I had bought a VanTop h612t. It looks just like this. Same thing. Mine worked ok for a year and then started goofy power problems. The issue was with the pins in the USB mini power plug. Is this one better?
Sorry, we haven't had it for a while to know, we got new cars
so the smart hardwire kits works with this unit, i was little confused because the M2 was not listed on the compaitable list
Yep
What’s the beep when the blind spot was detected ?
Thank you for this video. My wife also has a Kia, so this was very helpful. I mounted the camera in the same spot you did. Lucky for me, her model has a panel that pops off the top of the hatch to allow me to run the camera cable through the left side wiring harness to where I can avoid the sticky stuff and access the cable from the bottom of the weather stripping to run the cable along the same route you did. Install is super clean.
Also, for anyone who is reading this: as helpful as Rexing support is, they don’t really know the specs of this product. They will tell you it’s only 1080p front and back, but just like in this video, it is 2K capable in the front. They will also tell you that this unit has a super capacitor instead of a battery. Both specs (2K and battery) are clearly stated on the box. I’m not sure anyone there has actually seen this product.
That being said, I have a V1P Pro as well and support was very helpful when I needed a warranty replacement.
what time od sd card should i buy?
I'm sorry i don't understand. You said early in the video that the hardwire kit you got would work but then you had to order a different one. Can you include part numbers. I can't figure out which kit does what.
hardwire and parking cable are two different things. Look on their website or amazon for what the current parts are. We no longer have that car or cam.
how did you connect it to the reverse light?
How do you fix the time to p.s.t?????
Do we have to use parking cable?
Only if you need coverage when the car is off
@@COGuyStuff what size and kind of SD card do u recommend I buy lmk
It's in the description
Thank You for the video.
where is this manufactured?
Any problems with the mirror detaching from the windshield due to more weight?
No
I'm having mine installed by Geek Squad. I bought it to use the back up camera on my limo tinted car. Not sure if this was a good buy anymore since I spend +$400 and I'm not 100% sold on it. Please help
So you dont like it ?
in the Amazon link that you leave it only shows that the camera goes up to 1080p in it's description. But in the video it shows 2560x1440 (2k). Is it the right camera??
Am I really want one of these mirror dash cams because we now have a 5th wheel and need a good backup camera to see bed of truck. The problem I hate though is that my current dash cam I need to take out the SD card which I never do to see videos. Looks like all the mirror dash cams that have a phone app or can share from the device are still at Chinese websites. Some of the android ones are cool with android on them.
It’s simple in the app to view anything. However it takes forever, it’s far faster to just pop out the card, it’s not a big deal.
I share a car and have to adjust the mirror to my height everytime I get in. If I had this in the car, would I have to realign the camera every time the mirror is adjusted? This could break the deal.
Yes
How much? From Java Indonesia
Sorry I have no idea outside the US
I have Homelink mirror. Does this dash cam interfere, in any way, with those controls?
No
Hey Brian…are these needed for cars that do not rear view and side view cameras?
is it possible to record parking footage on internal battery while the car is off with out the smart cable?
Yes just not obviously as long
Is that memory card in you're link a class 10?
'class' means nothing these days. Everything is far above the old class 10 spec
Does it record front and rear simultaneously?
Yes
Can you do a video on garage lighting? Looks like you have excellent lights and I’m looking for a good solution
I did one years ago on these when we moved in
How is the rear view camera at night when you have cars right behind you? I have the m1 and it blinds me every time there’s a car behind me, it just doesn’t adjust to the headlights and I’m wondering if the m2 is better
It has good auto exposure, it doesn’t totally wash out. But like I said still not as good as a real reflection.
its bad. I have it and shut it off
Thank you for this video. I'm in the market for a mirror dash cam and I want something with a supercapacitor since I live in a really hot area and so far I've only found the Rexing M1 Pro. Is there another mirror dash cam that has a supercapacitor?
@canucha1985 , did you ever find one?
@@PuJolsLol the only one I found was the Rexing M1 Pro, and even that's questionable. When I went to the Rexing website it said it was a Supercapacitor, but on Amazon it said it was battery. I ordered it anyways and when it arrived the box said battery, so I messaged Rexing to ask and they said that they just used old boxes to package the new Supercapacitor models. Seems weird you'd sell a newer version is an older model box. Anywho, I tried it out and the first one kept rebooting Everytime the door opened and closed, I turned off the G-sensor and it still did it. I returned it and got a 2nd one and it rebooted randomly and when it did it at night, it was borderline blinding cuz it was full brightness during the reboot. So I returned that one. Finally, the 3rd one I got, still said battery in the box as well and the random rebooting continued even though it was hardwired to the SUV. Texting has no clue and couldn't provide help as to why or how to fix it, so I returned it as well. I still don't have a dash cam since that day, but I'm still searching and I haven't found one with a Supercapacitor yet.
However, some of the newer ones coming out, they don't even have a battery at all. It's just USB charger and if you want parking detection, then you just hardwire it to the vehicle. So I might try one of these newer ones without a battery, just haven't decided on which one. Sorry for the long reply, but hope it helps and saves you some headaches.
I have installed this but can't find a way to record video while using the mirror without camera display. Did I miss an option somewhere?
You just turn the screen off. The screen has nothing to do with recording.
@@COGuyStuff YES I am still looking for that switch. Please let me know how to find it.
@@DeadEyeDave given this was 4 months ago I'm assuming you figured it out but in case you didn't or there is someone else wanting to know you are looking for "screen sleep" this allows you to have your screen turn off after a given time period (I leave mine at 10-30 secs and change based on my mood) then record but use it as a mirror. This setting is under sys settings.
@@AverageNerdGuy I never found "screen sleep" but now I know to look for it. I did find that after the initial startup and after each time the reverse camera comes on, I can touch the bottom button momentarily to shut off the display.
Great review, does the rear view camera can display mirror image.? Thanks.
Yes
@@COGuyStuff How can I remove my Sd card from it to clear the data off on my computer so I don’t drain my cars battery of fuel or waist my time individually deleting each one.
does it record front and rear footage ? simultaneously ?
Yes
nice
thanks
So what if I don’t want to record anything is their a button I can turn off?
About how much do you think one would charge for the installation of this camera? Thanks.
The avg car, it's no more than 30 min. The only thing that would take longer is if the rear view cable has to be snaked to a weird location.
@@COGuyStuff I have to pay someone, do you have any ideas how much I should pay? Thanks.
nope
@@VEGGIEIB I payed $180
How does it look like when backing up? Cuz mine looks wierd. I was wondering if the lines are adjustable for the parking assist.
