      Yeah they're pretty crazy, they shift so fast and at the perfect shift point, it does make it hard to beat, especially in a manual. Those 8spd autos are very unforgiving of the competitions mistake in a race.

      @@PotatoeJoe69 I feel like it’s more than just the speed of the shift, I know I shift really damn fast in my manual, maybe not quite as fast as the 8 speed, but I think the torque converter on those things really lets you put the hammer down off the line.

      I thought I wanted a manual when I was shopping, thought I wanted a bright color too. In the end, the automatic made more sense, and especially if wifey will ever drive it, but so far in a year and a half she's too scared. LOL And I didn't want unwanted attention, especially from LE, so no lime green or orange!
      The automatic is outstanding, one of the best transmissions I've driven. It is ALWAYS in the right gear, shifts are seamless up and down, and in sport mode it's super crisp, instant shifts. I'm still getting used to paddle-shifters. Coming from the stick-shift history, they feel like a new-fangled toy. I always thought they were 'indy-car wannabe' buttons. LOL One of those try-it you'll like-it kind of deals.

    Great video brother. When I was just cammed and headers my races with Scats were the same (stock 5.7 is not even close) except I kept up a little better from a dig (I have an automatic) and they would take me on the big end. Once I got the converter, I would smack them off the start and then they would gain at the big end (sometimes I would win sometimes the Scat would win) making it a 100% drivers race. LOVE seeing you bang those gears brother! Need to see more of it!

    Man, love the videos. I have a '14 w/6spd, too. Just some notes. The 6.4 intake uses the long runners in the lower RPM range, which is for increased torque. Then, around 4800RPM, it switches to the short runners for in increase in HP. You can look up videos on UA-cam for dyno graphs and actually see the switch around 4800. One other note, the Stainless Works headers are 1 7/8". Believe it or not, our 5.7's do better with smaller 1 3/4" headers. The difference is in the lower RPM range (2400 - 3200RPM). The smaller tubes help scavenging more, in that range, and torque is up 15+ ft.lbs., over the larger tubes. Up top, the larger tubes only give you about 3 or 4 HP advantage. If you know who Richard Holdener is, he wrote a book about late model Hemi performance. He dyno'ed a 5.7 test mule and proved this with actual numbers. If you ever stroke your 5.7, that's when those SW headers will show their advantages.
    If you were to do the 6.4 intake mod, that purple Charger's gonna be in trouble. 😎😎

    • @TrackPackRT
      @TrackPackRT  Рік тому +1

      Yea I got it backwards in the video, but had seen a lot of dyno pulls with the swap showing the gains down low and through the meat of the powerband. Not "more power" per se, but more under the curve where it's useful. I've thought long and hard about this swap but I'm leaving myself open for the possibility of switching to another intake I really like that happens to have a pulley coming out of it..if you catch my drift. haha
      I love Holdners channel, he does some super interesting comparisons. I never got a chance to run with my buddy Jay again after this, but soon after I swapped out the phase limiter for a phase lock and ended up with an extra 20 or so hp. It's been a fun journey so far!

I'm going with a CamMotion custom grind and they said that I'd need to lock the phaser, too. It has a 113° LSA, with 3° advance ground in. Definitely don't need pistons tickling the exhaust valves. These 5.7's can really make the power, when done right. There's some guys in Texas that put down almost 520WHP, on E85. The car has the 6.4 intake, as well. 520's gotta be close to maxed out.

(Thinking of a MMX cam that requires no tunning, no spring/mds delete/limiter & added 30whp more no tune, can probably get 10 or 15 more with a tune)

      @@Mroswaldo16 Sounds like you got a sick ride coming along! I just did long tube headers, high flow cats and a 3" exhaust from Magnaflow this past week (took like 15 hours of work).
      As for the 392 intake manifold, the swap itself was really easy honestly. Took me like 3 or 4 hours. Noticed a nice bump in torque immediately (before I even got it tuned). After I got it tuned, I got another 30 ft/lbs of torque out of it and like 10 horses. No check-engine lights, nothing. The physical install itself is cake. The hard part for me was all the wiring to get the active runners working, that took me another week to figure out. You can just direct swap it without the wiring and activating the runners and it will still run perfectly fine with no issues, you just won't feel it pull as much on the top end.
      Prices are kinda crazy right now. I waited a little over 3 months to get my 392 intake manifold because I didn't want to over pay. I got a used one on Ebay for like $450 eventually. Best of luck and let me know how it goes if you end up doing it!

      Ooh that completely depends on your budget and power goals. They’re both good ways to go. You’ll make more power with a supercharger but it’ll also cost over 6k compared to the 1.8k a cam kit will cost you. Both will require a really good tune to run properly. Cam + headers will get you between 400-420 whp depending on your cam. Supercharger + headers will put you in the 550 range. There’s definitely a few variables but both are great options when done properly!

So I went with the single piece driveshaft and so far at 100mph no vibration at all, they balance the driveshafts now on a 1,950rpm machine, they are a lot better than they used to be, No Regrets here. I always say get the most trim level you can afford and go from there. If an R/T fits the budget, get one! If it’s going to be a fixed budget for quite awhile and a Scatpack just isn’t in the cards, no worries, pretty easy to get that power without spending a lot, especially if you can do work yourself. The great thing about all the Hemis is they all can make serious power. Take a look at your budget and make a plan. Sort of. I mean the cam I put in has a good rpm range that is still pretty low so it’s not all upper mid and high end power. My 60’ time has gotten slightly better now than it was when I was on the stock cam so I know I’m not just dying off the line. The 392s are really torquey from a dig, they’re designed that way, but the awesome intake design they have really does help power and torque down low without sacrificing top end power. It would make a fair bit of difference on my car. I would like to get back together with Jay and run again now that my setup is tweaked just right and pretty rock solid, he’s been working out of province so although we keep in touch it may be next summer before we can try again. I’d still really love to find a manual 392 to line up against so it takes the transmission/converter variable out of it and just see how they stack up.

      Well I know you’ve never met Amy but she’s about 5’ 2” and about 100lbs soaking wet. If you’re going to call out a serious performance differences on that it’s a big stretch. Besides we know there’s a weight difference between an SRT Charger and my Challenger, about 300 lbs. There’s also a difference in transmissions. It’s not a strictly controlled apples to apples comparison. Me and Jay are friends and have been putting our cars against each other after each mod I’ve done to see how they compare, just some buds having fun with our Mopars. Because of that we know how dramatic the performance improvement has been so far. Besides did you want me to be like “sorry Amy, can you get out and stand on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere for an hour while we run these cars?” Not a chance man! I mean, if you’re really skeptical and have a stock Scatpack I’d gladly validate what we saw in the video for you. Haha
