Not to criticise, but you need to watch the witty alien video on the alien gambit. Play d4 and don’t give the knight check unless the bishop comes out, otherwise castle rook e1 etc. the gambit becomes even more powerful when u play it like witty
Wish I could find my old lichess account. I swear I went up against that knight sacrifice multiple times back in 09-10. I even know it for sure because the first time I saw it I tried to kick the knight away and got wrecked. So idk how this is new to people. Still a cool opening trick. But it’s not new to 2024 no way
There is no need to allow Qxg2 There is Nf7+ and then just castle... Eric allowed Qxg2 for some reason, I think he missed the idea of checking and then castling
its easily refuted. first time I saw it I thought what kind of rubbish sacrifice is this? first time I encountered it, my opponent resigns pretty early once they realize that there no actual attack
I used to play a opening like this 8 or 9 years ago in a online app called dr.chess. Moving only the knight all the way to the king and disable the castling right by sacrificing it, then unleash full attack on king. But now i forgot the follow up moves, the main aim is to disable the castling rights. This method won't work all the time, but i have beaten a national master with that method when i was around 1200 to 1300 rating..
Yesterday I saw this video, today I thought I'd give it a try, won a game in 9 moves with all my opponent's pieces (except pawns) on their original squares 😂 brutal!
He for some reason thought he could find a way to peacefully castle, manual castling was mandatory, he shouldn't have played that nd7 mess, I can't understand why didn't he play kc7 and then bring the other pieces into the game
because queen g2 would fork his rook and bishop, and opponent would eventually definitely win the knight. So he's actually be down 2 extra points of material after it's all said and done.
Gambit had already been refuted... But the move that stops it is really hard to find, and most Caro players go for their ordinary, logical moves often result in problems. Sure, gambit is dubious according to engine but humans are not engines, therefore it works pretty well in bullet/blitz games with not enough time to calculate correctly 😅
He is going for the kill not for material. If you want to become better at attacking, you need to realize a strong knight is better than a rook that hasn’t even moved.
@@macdonaldnnadi Just checked it w. the engine. Eric is lucky that black didn't take the g2 pawn on move 10, or it would have been black going for the kill. Knight fork and then castle is the only real path forward.
@@pepperwestwood Checking w. Stockfish, it appears that the knight fork is the only real way to continue the attack. Eric got lucky that black's queen didn't take the g2 pawn and put him on immediate, permanent defense. The fork doesn't actually win the rook because white has to castle to prevent the queen's incursion. But the end black is not far off.
@@OvercookedOctopusFeet you're right but I suppose it's witty who popularized it in this age of chess. Chess players back then didn't have much of a following or an audience
@@strek45 Yes, but is a little disappointing that so many young players don't understand the difference between "popularising" and "inventing/creating". The "alien gambit" is a fun meme, and Witty should be credited for that, but i wonder how many of Witty's audience actually believe that he created this opening gambit.. it's frightening and funny at the same time to think about🤣
Hikaru knows more about this Gambit than both of those you just mentioned. Hikaru played this opening in the nineties against Robby Adamson. Adamson was playing this gambit a long long time before witty gave it the meme name. Probably before Witty was born actually.

@@shuvro40 If you go to GMHikaru's channel, his video is called "Learn to play the Alien Gambit with Hikaru!!". At the 13 minute point he tells a story about how the Alien gambit is not new at all, he played it when he was a kid against Robby Adamson (Adamson made the opening well known back then, and even then it was well known a long time before him).. so yeah, Witty gave it a silly name but it is not new. I'm sure I'm missing something, but why not fork the king/rook with Nf7 on move 10, around 1:05 in the video?

hi from the future... or the past, or
Was that not a fork around 1:15? I’m new so I could definitely be missing something
it is, but I'm guessing the threat of a knight in the middle attacking is better than taking the rook in this position
Why not 10. Nf7+? You 'll win the rook at the only cost of your castling rights and two pawns.

Can someone explain why black queen did not take the bishop on f4 at @2:27 ?

After he plays Kd8 why not fork the king and rook on f7??
g2 was weak
because queen g2 would fork his rook and bishop, and opponent would eventually definitely win the knight. So he's actually be down 2 extra points of material after it's all said and done.
Ahh I see, could’ve still played it, then black plays Kc7, white castles, but then you don’t win any material
He should have played the knight fork, d4 was a blunder. That was the only move to maintain equality (I just had a look with stockfish)
