Eric, that was an absolute violation. Did your parents not teach you not to play with your food? 😂
Rosen's Immoral
Oh no my morality!
Underrated comment
“Ooh, I’m close to my peak rating. I’d better tank it with some crazy dubious opening”
This attitude is very freeing though, I would've been stressed as hell
Opponent was rated 1300 what is nothing against Eric
One of the funniest games I've seen in a long time!
Me laughing hard to the second half of the game 😂
Same here. 😅
“Always castle in the endgame” 😂
That's even more pawn moves to start than Emil Joseph Diemer vs. Thomas Heiling
Also thought about that game
And his first developed piece was the queen!
Opponent lost because they played f6
Never play... Rawr!
Feingold in shambles
Truth hurts
They lost because they play hippo which means they have no clue what to do after premoving their setup. I hate chessbrahs for making this dumb opening so popular - not because it's hard to beat but because every games looks the same.
Frankly, terrible
"At some point I'm going to run out of legal pawn moves." heh.
"Don't make so many pawn moves in the opening. Titled players are so good because they understand opening principles and theory."
-Opponent's chess coach, probably
There is this other principle - if black rushes A5/H5 you as white need to push your own A and H pawns forward.
Titled players know theory but principles are guard rails for less experienced players. Titled players understand nuance which allows them to violate opening principles that beginners rely on.
I’m not going to say that this video was an example of sound play that violates opening principles lol, but a chess coach wouldn’t say this about titled players.
5:24 did he miss Bb4?? :00
Appears that way 🙂
Nicely spotted 😅
I was about to post the same
Probably expected the king to move and got distracted with the pawn move chain.
at 5:24?? That's not a legal move
Sorry for those who came here for instructive chess, but there are unusual lessons to be learned here 😂😂😂
I was like ".....are there tho?"
But also I was not mad :)
Lots of lessons here! Don't play a double fianchetto opening without looking at your opponent's moves. When you neglect the center, your minor pieces can get kicked around. When the center is closed, it's less dangerous to be undeveloped and uncastled, but always look for checks/captures/threats or better yet don't break the "rules" unless you know the consequences. Beware the Qa5+ fork.
I feel like the prime lesson is that tactics, movement, position are king. General rules for beginners state that you need to castle early, control center, etc... but GMs do bongcloud speedruns and it's totally possible to get to 2000+ elo playing some silly shit if you just understand tactics & position better than the opponent.
I do wonder what the engine had to say about this game
There's a link in the description. I skimmed through, and most, if not all, of what he played in the first 19 moves was one of the top 5 engine moves which makes this game that much funnier lol
His opponent played a passive opening and was just too weak for Eric, simple as that.
@@janaki3829 well you don't have too many moves you can do in a position, most intuitive moves that aren't just outright blunders are top 5 engine moves a lot of times
It exploded around move 10.
10:33 should've played Nd5, then Kc7, then another waiting move, to let opponent promote before you checkmate them
This is art bro lol
Haven’t laughed this hard at a rapid game in a long time
Same. It's always hilarious watching noobs get stomped by someone double their ranking.
I love the Hippo and Hedgehog defences. Done properly, that is, with black. There are some great examples at elite level, and they're reputed to be effective against aggressive players. Maybe you could play it in your Speedrun, Eric.
Probably the most impressive chess game I have ever seen! Kudos to your opponent vasazh for not resigning.
The ending was a call back to your opening, forcing pawn moves.
Solid game. A prime example of how to apply basic opening principles.
😂
3:17 the stairway to h3ll
One of the funniest games I've seen so far. I have to be honest, though, a strong player pushing pawns is very, very annoying to play against. They're surprisingly tricky to calculate, because most moves are silent.
19 pawn moves??
Reminds me of that Gotham video of Emil Joseph Diemer who played 17 pawn moves in a row
Thanks. I was trying to remember that game!
Pushing pawns has *always* been my strategy.
"Don't try this opening at home" 😂😂😂
That was the craziest game I've ever seen! 🤣
a classic Eric Rosen chess video
Epic and hilarious! Thank you for sharing, Eric.
Bro will have nightmares with this ☠️
Yeah, you definitely needed to castle to bring your king to safety!😂 I was literally LOLing on this game. It was insane that Eric had his king and all pieces except the captured rook on their original squares with two empty ranks in front of them. Talk about space to develop!
So our rating is close too; I just need to gain another 2000 rating, and we are tied.
That's the greatest game of chess I've ever seen hahaha I was laughing throughout
Castling while not having a single pawn in your half of the board. That's a new one
the foolish opponent didn't realise the gbbbbg setup gets countered by the hhaa gambit
Thanks for teaching us solid openings
I have remember to develop all my pawns now.
The Pawn-Demonium opening.
Sometimes this kind of pawn storm really breaks the defence.. I can remember I lost a game against a beginner with this kind of pawn storm.. After a certain point I didn't have a single piece to move.. Though he was 400 points lower than me..
Same thing happened to me a few months ago - I ended up sac-ing a knight just to create some room for my pieces and still lost.
Unintentionally brilliant. His entire Kingside is shutdown after move 24. He only has 3 pawns and a rook to 'move'.
Excellent Eric!
I love these kinds of videos
Well that was certainly a bunch of legal moves with chess pieces.
“What a funny game..” yes indeed Eric ! Brilliant 😁
Hilarious Eric! Well done!
this has to be a rosen trophy
It is a Rosen Trophy, for moving 12 pawns in the opening
Watch this video once for every consecutive pawn move
Great fun. Nice win.
That was so satisfying
Its interesting in this game that sometime a pawn move is a bishop move
That was hysterical! I could not stop laughing.
This is the funniest opening to a video of all time lmfao
I can’t believe Eric tried to pass this off as non educational content.
This video should come with a Parental Advisory label
Very informative.
Hey that's a Rosen trophy for moving at least 12 pawns in the opening!
So funny, a full pawns opening invented!
You moved your pawns but checkmated with opponent's pawns
What I learned from this game is that you can literally play anything against a 1300 and win.
Hahaha this was glorious Eric
So your next challenge is 20 pawn moves in a row in the opening. Good luck!
Good luck on crossing 2700 :)
Are you playing with your food again Eric?
Brilliant, never seen anything like it. You must give it a name! PAWN OBLIVION?😁
The Rosen-Diemer gambit brought a win :D
epic, i'm gonna try this opening immediately xD
That was a game and a a half..
Emil Joseph Diemer would be proud of your play.
It’s so beautiful
God, what a game!
Eric needs to be careful or he'll end up like Emil.
Saw it on twitch, totally worth the rewatch! 😂
I think that's how you play chess because pawns are blocking your pieces that's why they must be pushed to give way for your pieces.
Leela level chess
Bro played 1.g3 against Eric just to get clowned 💀
Go my scarabs.
At least your pawn moves have a purpose? The kids at the mall and the random couple that sucks at Chess always seem to make a bunch of random pawn pushes for no reason without touching a single piece until later
You have officially reached Bobby Fischer levels of not giving a fuck.
Crazy, unusual and fun 😆 A great way to cope with the madness 😎
Very fun and unique game. Yahooooo!!
Outrageous ... Haha !! Lots of fun ! Must try it for fun 😜
Apertura veramente ridicola, tuttavia divertente...
En passant was legal pawn move
I enjoyed that
Wonderful!
Like watching a Pro UFC fighter fight captain of a High School Wrestling team.
How about a best of 5 match with a strong IM ?
Maybe a 5+5 time control, not too fast, not too slow for viewers.
Hey how come Andrew gets to get up? If he gets up, we'll all get up. It'll be anarchy!
Our hero is the best player in the world eho would even try this when 3 points away from their highest rating!!
This is why he is loved all over the world!
Dude, Eric was playing someone half his rating. He'd had to have had multiple seizures during the game to lose to this 1300.
You are better than 100% of rapid players - and that's just presentation skills!!
5:23 missed a Queen pin or am I tripping
Pawnerful Chess Opening, indeed.
Is this the famous Pawnziani opening?
I enjoyed it
Opponent is a pushy
Love your vids! Keep up the good work! (Also first)
hilarious game lol
Someone teach Eric to control the centre please ;)
Was Rb4 not a faster mate?
I lost rating points watching that game.
Non-pawn..... creatures
crab
This game made me feel uncomfortable. I need an adult....
