I saw this opening day. Finding out Newt and Hicks were dead just destroyed my enjoyment of the rest of the film. Also, they didn't do anything new with the creature in only that it takes the characteristics of its host.
Montgomery Jackson well newt was the worst character ever & if Michael beihn wasn't an asshole about Alien³ he would have been in it but he was a complete asshole so they killed him simple & Alien³ WASNT TRYING TO BE ALIENS , ALIENS HAD NO TENSION JUST GUNS AND "BUGS" WHAT A WAY TO MAKE THE ALIEN A HUMAN SIZES BEE nice the Xenomorph in Alien³ changed the way the Xenomorph could host because up to that point we have only seen human birthed xenos but I'm not going to try and change your opinion there are lots of things I agree with that why people dont like Alien³ compared to Aliens for all the things Aliens does wrong it does 2 things right Aliens is a blast to watch Alien³ is hard to watch
If you don't like the movie, you just didn't experience it right. The movie is beautiful, characters were beautiful, opening was intense, the fact that the movie is not interesting is subjective. Some of the best sci-fi movies ever (Space Odyssey etc.) are kinda boring, but that boringness can be artistic, just like is the case with Finchers's movie. Epicness doesn't mean good, it's just making people feel good, money, commercial. You will make video in 10 years, when you realize how good actually the movie is and say completely different things about this movie. But this movie needs experience. And time. Like jazz. ;)
@@eventhorizon4816 i could agree on some of ur points but this movie still sucks wat they did at the start is unforgivable and it didnt have to be epic to be good like in aliens characters died but in a satisfying way to pro long the story and develop the characters further not just kill them off because its new and original this is why this still gets talked about today and shitted on is because people like u keep saying its beautiful when its just bad and just down right boring throughout most of the film
I think the long takes review of this film gave me a different perspective of this movie and made me appreciate it so much more. Not as good as 1 and 2 but certainly worthy to be an alien movie above the horrid 4th. Props to Fincher who had a film to make without a script having to write as he filmed and somehow making it coherent.
What's frustrating about Alien 3 is that there were sky's the limit of better story ideas that could have been explored. I hate this movie for not only shitting on ALIENS, but also putting the franchise in a quagmire of bad sequels and prequels from which it has never escaped. I'm glad more Alien 3 rant videos are popping up to point out the cornucopia of problems this film has. Thank you! Alien 3 also has a small and strange cult of nihilistic fans who will fanatically defend and rage at people who don't like it. They even go to the ridiculous degree to say Alien 3 the best film in the franchise. The assembly cut is just candy sprinkles on a turd.
Did I really say there was 9 years between 1986 and 1993? The movie had me so pissed I forgot simple arithmetic. haha This turned out great man. The dog cracked me up!
I Heard a rumor that Weaver didn´t want to come back if Hicks came back. I don´t know why or if it´s even true, but I Always felt, even before hearing it, that they tried to lessen Hicks importance to her with the sexscene. She never ask for him or mention him either. Like some kind of proof that he never mattered that much anyway. Don´t know if the actors didn´t like eachother or it was because Hicks became a welliked character that some people wanted to lead instead of Ripley. I Always wanted Ripley as the leader but it would have been nice if the character of Hicks wasn´t treated like dirt under the carpet in tis Movie.
This film lost me immediately in the opening credits... Why would they kill Newt?! I told myself, just try to get through the movie without thinking about it, but I was feeling really bitter about it. It also didn't help that they kept showing Newt later in the autopsy like they're rubbing it in our faces... Bastards... Then they bring in the alien... This thing looked so distracting... The one time I would prefer CGI over a practical effect, which I thought this was very bad CGI and it wasn't... Wow... I did not enjoy my time with this film... BUT! I did enjoy my time with this rant! Love it!
Lol! I'm so glad you enjoyed this rant. When I did these videos I was watching all of these movies for the first time. Now imagine, I had just finished watching Aliens for the first time and loved it! And less than 24hrs later I click play on this....That was rough.
@@ChrisDurban I bet it was, dude! I myself am watching these movies too for the first time, it took me a while to get to this one though because I don't own the blu rays, I had to keep tabs on when my movie channels were gonna show this one again so I can hit record on my DVR haha. So it's been a while before I got to this one after watching Aliens. Alien Resurrection is next and I hear that one isn't quite loved either... Uh oh...
I felt the same way as both of you do walking out of the theatre back then after seeing A3. I think I might have cried a little being so sad and disappointed!! However watching the “Assembly Cut” brought A3 back into the fold for me. The AC is how you need to watch A3. Infact it’s the true sequel to the original. It brings back the mood, environment, recognizable characters even when they all look the same. I tend to watch A3 AC when I want a hit of Aliens now. If anything its like fine wine, it gets better with age!!
Dark Horse Comics adapted the original storyline for Alien 3 and 4 into 3 separate miniseries. The first took place 10 years or so later and focuses on Newt and Hicks on Earth. Ripley disappeared in the way to Earth. They eventually hook up with her and they meet anithe Space Jockey from Alien.
I have issues with what they did to Hicks and Newt, but I dig Alien 3. Always have. And one alien works since they have limited weapons. And they don't have a huge cache of eggs so they wouldn't have the ability to make multiple xenomorphs. And if people hated making that move after Alien, Alien: Isolation wouldn't have been so poplar.
I liked this one, especially the assembly cut, it fleshes out the story elements, and the alien comes out from a different host, an ox. Personally I wished they kept it that way, and have the alien actually be this giant hulking monster. Also the queen doesn’t burst out of Ripley when she killed herself, which gives it a better idea of how they were able to clone her with the alien still inside her. When coming in to these movies, stick to the special edition versions
I HATE this thing. Say what you want about the next installment. Alien Resurrection is Alien and Aliens combined when compared to this movie and is infinitely more enjoyable. Alien 3 is a depressing, offensive slog to get though, and despite what everyone says about the assembly cut, I don't care to see it because it still takes a steaming pile on the characters we got to know and love from the first two movies.
Oh - one more thing - the directors cut of Aliens is much better than the theatrical version because it adds some great details. To me, with Alien 3, it’s the other way around. Always watch the theatrical cut of Alien 3 as it tells a much tighter and condensed story. The director’s cut adds nothing but completely unnecessary, and in my opinion mind bogglingly stupid details, that don’t improve the film at all. The worst offender, Ripley and the prisoners actually capture the Alien in steel enforced room, only to be stupid enough to let Golic let the thing loose half way through the movie. In the theatrical cut, this scene is excised. My point - Unlike Aliens, the director’s cut, these new details don’t help, and only make Alien 3, a movie already on life support, even worse.
And would someone please explain this to me but how in the world did in a alien queen have the time to lay a egg before the queen died in aliens because I felt like that part was never explained in alien 3
You guys nailed it! I like that you have a different opinion from the many many other reviewers and like Resurrection more than Alien 3. It is only justice to the Jean Pierre-Jeunet's fun and visually unique movie.
Tom S At least Ripley didn't sacrifice herself to save the inmates! I would've let it burst cause I'd be resting in peace in the heavens and the stupid inmates and duplicate Bishop would be like 'Game Over Man!'
Tom S Moreover it takes so much time to get out of her chest. Ripley from Resurrection has no memories about the tragedies on Fiorina during the events of Alien 3 (Three times the frustration, Three times the anger, Three times the feeling of getting out of the theatre.)
I completely understand why people hate Alien 3 and the mistakes the film made, but I still think the film has some items here and there that work. If it was a stand alone horror film, and we weren’t previously attached to these characters, this movie might’ve worked. But as the 3rd film in a great series, it really doesn’t work. And considering, all the problems that Alien 3 had behind the scenes, it’s actually a miracle Alien 3 came out as good as it did. That being said, Alien 3 is deeply flawed. Two big mistakes made - the filmmakers greatly underestimated how attached the audience was to Newt, Hicks, and Bishop and how much people liked those characters. Guess they figured - if we off those 3 characters and start fresh, audiences won’t mind, right. Well, they did - big time. Second big mistake is what Cody said - after the grand, kick- ass action packed scale of Aliens, regressing to only one Alien (or two) if you include the one in Ripley was a mistake. Personally, the best storyline the filmmakers should have gone forward with is some kind of plot similar to the comic book and video game “Aliens - Colonial Marines,” (which tells an alternate version of events after Aliens) - and that way the 4 protagonists could return and we’d have a much more interesting and action packed story as Ripley and co. continue to keep the Weyland Yutani scumbags from getting their hands on the Xenomorphs. I think audiences would have really warmed up to that kind of movie version of Alien 3 much better than this version. Because this version, is really dark, and depressing, where everything goes wrong more and more for every single character in Alien 3 as the movie proceeds, which as a stand alone horror movie might work, but as the third movie followings two masterpieces like Alien and Aliens, it clearly didn’t.
4:46 1992. But yeah, such an infuriating sequel. It should've taken place years later, not immediately after Aliens. Yeah, they were bad, but it was 1992 and computers weren't what they are today.
Deb 7 Lol! It was really hard for me because I was watching these movies back-to-back for the first time ever! So to have seriously just gone from Aliens and all that work they went through, to less than 24 hours later watching this it was tough!
Durbania I totally get that! You have no idea how disappointed the people were who loved Aliens felt when Aliens 3 FINALLY came out.... just to stomp on our hearts, within the first 90seconds!!! :)
I feel I did a very through job of repeatedly expressing how awful the first 90 seconds of this film are. We all warned you with the strongest language we could.
Thank you thank you thank you. You guys are actually one of the few reviewers that actually acknowledge the obvious Alien Queen in the Room: the beginning basically nullified everything in Aliens, go out of the way to piss the audience off and then expect them to go along with you for the rest of the movie? It is telling that about 75% of the other reviews and comments trying to rationalize why this movie failed mention everything reason under the sun but this one. There are couple of observations, Charles Dance's character and Ripley''s sexual relation with him. Charles Dance's character being killed off so suddenly and early is indicative of all the two previous movies and also in Alien Resurrection. All the male authority figures are rendered obsolete, leaving the rest of the riff raff to step up to the plate. As for Ripley's supposed promiscuity, I do not mind it. In fact in the original script for Alien, Ripley and Dallas had a thing going on and Ridley Scott suggested because of the long trips that miners routinely undergo, casual sex between crew members in the future (even between the same sex) is expected. hence in a deleted scene Ripley questioned Lambert about sleeping with Ash.

@@eventhorizon4816 it is more than 20 years since this was released and I still do not like it. In fact, since the passage of time, I now liked Aliens a bit less and loved the original Alien even MORE.
I really did enjoy this movie and Ellen Ripley played by Sigourney Weaver she did a great job in this movie and she was so awesome for this role and she sure is so awesome for this role but she dies tho at the end of the film though but she will be back in the fourth film too and Clemens played by Charles Dance he did a great job in this movie and he was so awesome for this role too and he was badass as this character too and he was in Underworld 4&5 too as well and David played by Peter Postlethwaite he did a great job in this movie and he was awesome for this role and he did a good job for playing the douchbag asshole character in this film too and Aaron played by Ralph Brown he did a great job in this movie too and he was very awesome for this role and he did a good job in this movie too and Dillion played by Charles S Dutton he did a really good job in this movie too and he was so likable in this film and he did a fantastic job in this role too as well and finally Bishop played by Lance Henriksen he did a great job too but he barely in this movie though as a small role in this film but it was nice to see his character back in this movie tho and overall I’m gonna give Alien 3 (1992) a 10/10 stars I really did loved this movie and I don’t have any issues with it at all and I don’t get the hate for it either and I think it ending on a good note too for Ellen Ripley but that’s just me though in my opinions and thoughts on this movie Durbania bro

You could be very right, in 10-years or less I could very much so watch it with different eyes. It is entirely subjective. My experience with this movie was watching Aliens and going straight into this. So that's why that felt so anticlimactic to me. But that's the beauty of film isn't it? You got my opinion in this video, I got your opinion in this comment, and now we're having a good time talking about it. I have had enough people say the same thing you are saying that I'll have to one day soon watch this movie again all by itself. Or perhaps I'll have to check out one of the others cuts of this movie. Thank you for watching and for your perspective.
@@ChrisDurban A lot of people talked about how it's shitty plot that Hicks and Newt died And they are kinda depressed about it. But I think if they didn't die, the movie wouldn't be able to express such nihilistic misery because it would continue to have that epicness of James Cameron. (and people will then talk how Fincher wasn't original) That actually makes this movie a totally unique as unpredictable haunting purgatorium. Also, I know a lot of people also said a lot of bad things about cgi and etc but this movie isn't actually that young and it was nominated for Academy Award (Oscar) for Visual effects. Sometimes the beauty lies in the harsh cold void.
It's truly a fucking masterpiece, btw Fincher disowned this movie not because he thinks "it was bad". He did that because the studio (Fox) interference.
This movie sucked, but it's DEFINITELY not the worst in the franchise. That honor goes to Alien: Resurrection. That shit sucked hard dicks. At least This one had the dog Alien, the design looked amazing minus the CGI parts. Also what's wrong with Ripley wanting a bit of skin? I think it empowers her character more, she wants something so she takes it. Sexual desire is natural. I mean if a male lead got some skin you wouldn't think twice. Awesome review though guys. I agree with the rest of what you guys said. That ending S.U.C.K.E.D.
Lol! Have you checked out Cody's and my review of Resurrection yet? Resurrection was not my favorite either by a long shot. But I watched all these movies so close together. So from Aliens to Alien 3, that was horrible! So horrible Resurrection was a breath of fresh air, lol!
the special edition/assembly cut is a MUCH better version of this movie and I mean it, I hate the theatrical version but I really enjoy the assembly cut
I saw this movie once and only once back in 2020 when I was marathoning the first four Alien films. Immediately after I saw it, I stuck my copy of the DVD in the goodwill bag and sent it on its way because I refused to have a copy of it in my house. Plus, I was thankful enough to not have the DVD box set and had a blue ray copy of each movie separately. Afterwards, whenever I marathon this franchise, I always skip this movie because there are no redeeming qualities to it.
So the alien queen can make screams in space. That level of scifi is okay for you. But an aliens exoskeleton being able to handle high temperature is too farfetched.
Nothing in this film makes sense. How did the alien egg get on board the ship? The only way that could have happened was that the alien queen brought it with her, but we saw that she did not carry it, so this is totally contrived. The prisoner colony also makes no sense. Why does it even exist? Who would be taking prisoners a billion miles away from Earth? That trip would cost a thousand times more than what keeping them in a prison on Earth for a whole century would cost. And why do they try and kill the alien less than an hour before a rescue team is supposed to arrive? It makes no sense. Then, of course, there are the crazy decisions to kill off the characters we like and then proceed to insert scenes of gore that will make you sick. That is just abuse, and contributes nothing to the story. The characters are boring and poorly developed, the plot is dumb, the action poorly directed and edited, the alien looks like a drawing and is never truly scary... Another thing I hated about this film is that it started to get artsy. The sets and the characters were becoming exaggerated and reminded me of something you'd expect to see in a comic book, but not in a film that wants to look realistic. The realism was of course totally gone in Alien Resurrection, but this film was already pissing all over realism. It's giant furnaces, giant cranes, weirdos in cloaks, Company security guards in uniforms that look silly... This is a comic book that someone turned into a film. And that pissed me off. The scene where Ripley is found on the beach and carried inside is pure comic book stuff. I think they actually used slow motion for that. There is a shot of her being carried in slow motion, with some giant cranes in the background, the cape blowing in the wind, a contrast between light and shadow... It looked so cartoonish.
I loved your opening summary ! I would done the same thing! it's hard to like this movie! It isn't easy to give it any positives..They killed everyone off in 90 seconds like you said! WTF!!!! LOL Not a good movie! Keep up the good work you guys! I enjoy watching you both! your both Awesome!!!! I Love your reviews!!! xoxo
The thing about the alien franchise is there are no happy endings. The alien is a force of nature that has taken from Ripley time and again. Her crew, the marines, and even her own life. I used to hate 3, but as time went on, i came to love it, cause like all the others, it has its own unique style, from the 70s and 80s style future, to the desolate wasteland known as Fury 161, and then we had we get resurrection.
@@tgiacin435 it's not about a happy ending its about a satisfying conclusion, look I'm up for sweet but sour endings to movies but this is just not that , if it just leads to wasted character development and story points then it doesn't deserve any praise even if it did have good qualities about it, it's still a very difficult thing to just forget about and to wat it could've been, instead we got a forgettable movie who stained the franchise for yrs to come
@@alemooche5159 The franchise is still stained to this very day. The only good things we have gotten since ALIENS is the Dark Horse comic series and the ALIEN: Isolation video game.
Wow, what a spot on review for Alien 3! If you can believe it, there are actually people who love this, or dare I say it, love this the most out of the whole franchise. Sure, to each their own but objectively speaking, you have to admit this movie is a pile of crap if not the worst insult to movie fans. :o
Yuzuru Nomura Lol, to me (and Cody) it was a pile crap. Especially since this is my first time watching these and I watched this so close to Aliens, which was SOOOO good!!!!
Cláudia Canais Lol, there's stuff to like about it. This one just didn't speak to me. Probably because I was binging these and had just watched Aliens.
There are a few good things about it: Pete Postlethwaite (RIP) was a great actor known for many British movies and one of my favorites, Jurassic Park The Lost World. Dog Alien looks awesome
Just watched this for the first time while doing the 31 on 31 films in order and yeah it sucked, but I do think there are a few redeeming qualities about it. First off, a lot of the negatives that you guys said didn’t really bother me too much. I thought the surprise death of the main dude halfway through the movie was well executed and probably the best scene in the movie. The CGI Alien was obvious, but for me it was like whatever, it didn’t distract me too much. I do agree that the opening 90 seconds did piss me off, but I got over it. What really killed this movie for me was the fact that it was just boring, and the story direction was just weird and made no sense. Why take the story in this direction? Why a prison planet? Why are there no women? Just...why? It’s so odd. I didn’t care about any of the characters at all. So yeah, for me it was a complete drag. However, I do think the final act saved it from being a total dumpster fire. The kills in this movie are brutal as hell and very intense and you get a lot of carnage candy in that third act. and I think the final standoff where Ripley throws herself into the flames was pretty well done. I thought the ending was pretty good. It saved the movie for me. So yeah, overall, not a very good movie, but I’ve seen worse. I’m not defending it by any means, but I think there are some really cool kills and a decent final act.
Very good points. It wasn't my favorite for sure, and I know most of my passion came from watching them all back to back. So now that they're on HBOMAX I may go back.
Not only is this a bad sequel, it's a bad movie period. Abysmal production values, direction with no focus, pitiful effects, POV chase scenes that seem to go on forever. It's boring. One nameless bald guy dies after another. What makes it even more inept is it followed up 2 incredible movies. I watched both cuts and 1 is just a longer mess than the other. Avoid at all costs.
A3 was the first movie in the franchise I saw, and it interested me enough to watch the other entries (in reverse order, lol) and eventually become a huge fan of the series... but I will be the first to admit that the premise and its execution in this film is horrendous. I'm aware of the production problems, the attempt to "fix it" via the Assembly Cut, the unused story treatments and scrapped ideas... none of it makes it a better film, not even the aforementioned alternate cut. I have no problem watching films that kill off main characters in the first five minutes (F13 Part II did it famously a decade earlier and no one complained), but when you replace them with a bunch of interchangeable prisoners and try to veil criticism under the shield of "It's nihlistic - it's supposed to be dark!", it doesn't help. There are some interesting ideas I like -- the idea of the xenomorph taking on traits of its host, the final conversation with Ripley and Bishop, Clemens.... but it's couched in this weird, oppressive atmosphere that seems like it was intentionally designed to see how many fans it could piss off. And no, I don't think any of the script treatments (with the exception of William Gibson's, maybe) were all that good. I'm still hoping they reboot the franchise and scrap all of the continuity post-Aliens.
I watched this movie once, and I never want to watch it again. I just remember staring in sheer disbelief during those first 90 seconds and thinking: "What?? That doesn't make any-no...NO! They can't do this!" I didn't care for everything else afterward. Okay, I can see why some people like this movie, and I admit that I liked the Dog Alien (even if some of the visuals they used for it were horrible) but overall it's just not for me. I like to pretend this movie never existed.
Alien resurrection and the alien vs predator movies where worse but I can see why people hate on this movie they should have released the finchers movie not the movie we got i saw this movie in the theaters and I’ve grown to love it after seeing the assembly cut
Hey Gentlemen! Ha this terrible movie is on Sci-Fi right now and brother I waited 4 thus movie at the theater back when it came out...like you I love ❤️ Aliens and was so excited but naive and very young probably 18...so my friend and I went to see it and I was so upset and bummed out...I remember after this movie I swear there was an article about how bad it was in Time magazine...such a waste of awesome material...
ok so here is my thoughts on the alien franchise: Alien: It was pretty tense basic 70's horror sad we dont get that nowadays fuck!!!! Aliens: It was a pretty damn good film from start to fuckin finish. Alien3: It was just a movie with a what the fuck is this shit constantly 24/7 through out the damn movie not worth watching its just bullshit left and right absolute just shit all over the damn place the cgi effects are just fuckin CRINGE worthy as fuck on the alien its self btw. Alien ressurection: it was a way better fuckin film than alien3 alien ressurection did a better fuckin job as a alien movie and i mean waaaaaaaaaaaay better fuckin absolutly AVP: Alien vs Predator: i thought was okay around times as well to be a movie about the xenomorph battling the predator. AVP: Requim: it was just a ''ish'' kind of movie really i did not like every single damn human character in the movie literally telling myself just what the fuck cliche bullshit am i watching now i may sound like dickhead for saying this loud and clear but i was waiting for the xenomorph to show up and just fuckin kill them all. Alien Covenant: it was extremely fuckin bloody as all hell.
Not arguing your opinion of the movie but may i say, the movie came out in 1992 not 1993. You guys are right to say aliens came out in 1986...but heres what gets me. You guys keep saying a 9 year separation between the two. At first i thought, maybe they thought aliens came out in 1984, getting confused when t1 came out, also directed by cameron. But then you explicity say aliens is 1986 and then say 9 years later. I love movies, and i dont condone that movies rot your brain, but come on man. 9 is the easiest. Just and 10 and minus 1.
LOL I LOVE THE CUTE LITTLE PUPPY PIC CRYING! U GUYS CRACK ME UP! I LOVE YOU! U MAKE ME LAUGH!!! HAHAHA!!! KILL THE INNOCENT DOG!!! WTF!!! THIS MOVIE SUCKED SO BAD!!!! HORRIBLE HORRIBLE MOVIE!! SENSELESS MOVIE! And I like how u guys say how it went back to like the first movie! They ruined this Alien franchise!
I'm okay with anything in this movie other than the story. The acting was great, so was the horror, but if the script SUCKS then it can't be a good movie.
Yeah, and the script felt weak to me. And I watched this right after watching Aliens (all for the 1st time), so it was weird watching something so strong and then this one. You're right though, good acting and good horror elements.

Cody Leach for one Alien shouldn't be "Fun action" the original is a Gothic horror Aliens is Vietnam in space they think bishop 2 is the main face of weyland yutani he is just the template/designer of the android they think the Xenomorph hates fire in Alien the Xenomorph is never hit with the flamethrower THE ONLY XENO THAT GETS KILLED BY A FLAMETHROWER IS A CHESTBURSTER IN ALIENS these guys think the Xenomorph doesn't like heat let me quote Aliens " its as hot as hell in here , yeah man but its a dry heat" so them being afraid of fire is just something ash said in the first movie to make it look ash was being helpful he knew that fire would do nothing to the Xenomorph " how do we kill it ash .... you can't " which Aliens messed with just so you can gave guns
Charlie Peake So you're entire argument is the 3rd movie is great and makes complete sense as long as you completely ignore the rules set forth in the 2nd (the most popular and beloved) movie in the franchise? Yeah you're right it makes complete sense that they try and lure the Alien into a gasoline flooded hallway to burn it to death when it can apparently survive molten material without a scratch. The same molten material that apparently will kill the Alien Queen that bursts out of Ripley no problem mind you. And you're totally right Alien movies shouldn't be fun action especially after the 2nd movie had such bad success with it. 😂
Okay... recap! "Alien", one of my favorite sci fi horror movies "Aliens", one of my favorite sci fi action movies "Alien 3"... one of, if not the most HATED sequel of this entire franchise.
Tashkent Lutsow I think my thing with alien 3 is this, I came into this franchise cold. I didn't watch it at all growing up, I had no nostalgia attached to it, and I watched it right after I watched Aliens. I loved Ridley meeting Newt and Hicks. It was all so well done. Then, I had the shock of all that going away right away. And that was hard for me to get over. But that's the great thing about movies, I may not like it but you do and that's awesome! What's your favorite in the Alien Franchise?
Give alien 3 credit for expanding the alien lore, aliens take on the characteristics of the host... That's a great update... The effects are bad though considering jurassic Park with ILM showed how good effects could be.... Fox basically screwed alien 3... Fincher did what he could to save it and the actors did their best... But when you're building sets as the pages are being written on the day of filming... Its bad for that.
Montgomery Jackson Infinity War did it better though.
Stoner Yoda937 you're so merciless

Actually this movie came out in 1992, not 1993.
Ikr 😅 Cody leach was one more year ahead of himself obviously 🙄 he not prepared to this when it comes to doing reviewing movies lol 😂
Im a massive Alien fan, and ALIEN3 the assembly cut is my favorite, truly a masterpiece
91lifetime23 I truly will have to check that cut out!
A fucking masterpiece.
A tip : watch movies at flixzone. I've been using it for watching a lot of movies recently.
@Terrell Layne Yea, been watching on Flixzone} for months myself =)
I can agreed 👍🏻 with that one bro 😎 100 percent too
I think the long takes review of this film gave me a different perspective of this movie and made me appreciate it so much more.
Cody Leach Lol! Clearly I never noticed either 😂
Alien3 opening date: 22 May 1992, not 1993! But yeah, this film is one of worst of all time!
Uh oh...
@@xFoxx1996x so how did u enjoy alien resurrection 😁😁
I felt the same way as both of you do walking out of the theatre back then after seeing A3. I think I might have cried a little being so sad and disappointed!! However watching the “Assembly Cut” brought A3 back into the fold for me. The AC is how you need to watch A3. Infact it’s the true sequel to the original. It brings back the mood, environment, recognizable characters even when they all look the same. I tend to watch A3 AC when I want a hit of Aliens now. If anything its like fine wine, it gets better with age!!
Bo Shrek Sweet! I will have to check out the Assembly Cut. Good review of it. You got me interested.
RED CT Fascinating. Do you recommend I pick up thse graphic novels? They sound good.
Yes! This kicked off the ALIENS comic book series by Dark Horse Comics in 1988 and was a way better sequel story idea then what we got with Alien 3.
Also I have wondered for some time if the religious undertones and themes in this film inspired Ridley Scott in some way in Prometheus and Covenant?
ive never understood why the egg is upside down ?
Good to know, and I'll have to check out the Aliens Directors Cut! Thank you!
I felt like if alien 3 had not been rushed it could have been a really good movie
i like this movie but can understand those that doesnt
And would someone please explain this to me but how in the world did in a alien queen have the time to lay a egg before the queen died in aliens because I felt like that part was never explained in alien 3
Maybe bishop smuggled one back? 🤔🤫🤫🤫
This damn movie took a sledgehammer to my emotions!!! I hated it! I totally understand why Fincher disowned this cluster!
Great video. Are you doing movie reviews anymore? Love your work.
I 1st rented Alien 3 on VHS when I was attending elementary school & loved it. I like the director's cut.
I love the Assembly cut of this movie. The theatrical cut is a mess, though. And I totally understand why people hate it.
Me too except for the ox scene, I prefer the dog scene in the theatrical
I feel I did a very through job of repeatedly expressing how awful the first 90 seconds of this film are. We all warned you with the strongest language we could.
Lol! It's not that you didn't try or did a bad a job. The first 90 seconds were just so bad no words could convey it.
I would love Cody to review this movie with swear count, it will be as hilarious as his Freddy's dead review rant!

Thank you for watching and for your perspective.

A lot of people talked about how it's shitty plot that Hicks and Newt died And they are kinda depressed about it.
I actually really like the assembly cut of Alien 3. I like depressing films sometimes and I don't consider it completely nihilistic due to the ending.
the special edition/assembly cut is a MUCH better version of this movie and I mean it, I hate the theatrical version but I really enjoy the assembly cut
I keep hearing that. I'll have to check it out.
@@ChrisDurban avoid the DVD version though cause it has bad audio, the blu ray assembly cut is the one to view

godfather 3 vs alien 3 vs robocop 3?
I saw this movie once and only once back in 2020 when I was marathoning the first four Alien films.
Immediately after I saw it, I stuck my copy of the DVD in the goodwill bag and sent it on its way because I refused to have a copy of it in my house. Plus, I was thankful enough to not have the DVD box set and had a blue ray copy of each movie separately.
Afterwards, whenever I marathon this franchise, I always skip this movie because there are no redeeming qualities to it.
I agree with Cody as a alien fan myself alien 3 was not only the wrose in the franchise it’s Also a slap in the face to the fans
I love this review, you guys ranting was so entertaining. 😄 I agree with you, this movie sucks.
🤣 So glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!
Charles s dutten was the best part in this movie
Watching reiply suffering the whole movie it was the worst
But some good parts in the movie
Nooooo. It doesn't suck! The first 90 seconds are brutal, but c'mon! I liked it :P.
Cláudia Canais Lol, there's stuff to like about it. This one just didn't speak to me. Probably because I was binging these and had just watched Aliens.
There are a few good things about it:
Pete Postlethwaite (RIP) was a great actor known for many British movies and one of my favorites, Jurassic Park The Lost World.
Nice summary, did you watch the theatrical or assembly cut?
@@iad77 Theatrical. To me, the theatrical version is the movie, that’s what we got. Maybe one day I’ll watch the assembly cut.
The alien wasn't CGI. It was a rod puppet put on a blue screen. The only CGI was the shot of the alien's head cracking.
Really good Wizard Of Oz reference, Durban. I think they were going for an AIDS aligory with Alien 3.
It's a queen, that's why it takes longer to birth

Hey Gentlemen! Ha this terrible movie is on Sci-Fi right now and brother I waited 4 thus movie at the theater back when it came out...like you I love ❤️ Aliens and was so excited but naive and very young probably 18...so my friend and I went to see it and I was so upset and bummed out...I remember after this movie I swear there was an article about how bad it was in Time magazine...such a waste of awesome material...
At 11:57 don’t you mean 6 years of problems Cody omg 😆 get your facts straight man! Lmfao 🤣 bro 😎
I prefer alien 3 to resurrection... And no it doesn't get better as it goes on... Alien should never be a dark comedy
ok so here is my thoughts on the alien franchise:
Alien: It was pretty tense basic 70's horror sad we dont get that nowadays fuck!!!!
Alien ressurection: it was a way better fuckin film than alien3 alien ressurection did a better fuckin job as a alien movie and i mean waaaaaaaaaaaay better fuckin absolutly
AVP: Alien vs Predator: i thought was okay around times as well to be a movie about the xenomorph battling the predator.
Alien 3 is awesome, shame we lost Hicks, sod Newt :)
3:48- It's hilarious how it sounds like Cody is going to say something positive then agrees that Alien 3 sucks.

The righting in this movie was all over the place alien 3 could have been better
The thing that confused me when did the alien queen have the time to lay a back up egg before it died in aliens that was never explain in alien 3
And time. Like jazz. ;)
wow it sounds like you guys know nothing about Alien
Charlie Peake Oh really? Please explain! Seriously I'd love to hear this...
Cody Leach for one Alien shouldn't be "Fun action" the original is a Gothic horror Aliens is Vietnam in space
they think bishop 2 is the main face of weyland yutani he is just the template/designer of the android
they think the Xenomorph hates fire in Alien the Xenomorph is never hit with the flamethrower THE ONLY XENO THAT GETS KILLED BY A FLAMETHROWER IS A CHESTBURSTER IN ALIENS these guys think the Xenomorph doesn't like heat let me quote Aliens " its as hot as hell in here , yeah man but its a dry heat" so them being afraid of fire is just something ash said in the first movie to make it look ash was being helpful he knew that fire would do nothing to the Xenomorph " how do we kill it ash .... you can't " which Aliens messed with just so you can gave guns
Okay... recap!
"Alien", one of my favorite sci fi horror movies
"Aliens", one of my favorite sci fi action movies
"Alien 3"... one of, if not the most HATED sequel of this entire franchise.
This entire video is one large bag of bad arguments against a heavily underrated movie. Alien 3 is an awesome cult movie.
Great points, and they did expand the lore with the aliens taking characteristics of their host.
I think it came out in 1991.
I hate alien 3
Lol, us too.
