So good to see young people loving older music ❣
Thanks so much Mr. Clint🌺
It was 1993 when I got to Nirvana in concert. Best concert ever. Sounds just like he does on the album...
Thanks so much for sharing🌸
The actual lyric is “hello hello hello HOW LOW” which obviously works as a double entrandre for “hollow” as well it’s brilliant writing
Brilliant indeed, thanks again💕🌸💕
I was 12 in 92 when the song was released, it was the hymn of my generation, but by around 1999, I didn't identify with that youth any more. When I was 14 and 15 (1995, a year after Cobain's suicide), that was the peak in my appreciation of Nirvana. I even collected bootlegs and rarities and singles and what not, but by 1996, I was into black metal and goth, and the two genres (bands like Emperor, Darkthrone, Bauhaus and Joy Division) have never abandoned me ever since. Yeah, it's been 27 years now, I'm older, but black metal and goth rock remain may faithful lovers. That doesn't mean I can't discover and love new music, I do, including old music that's new to me, like Chelsea Wolfe and Anna von Haisswolf (two wolves!), the first of which I was introduced to by poet Nadia Escalante 4 or 5 years ago, and I keep listening to every week, at least once.
Thank you very much for sharing
I am from his hometown ! It hurt all the youth In our community 💔 To see the hero of Aberdeen WA USA Take his own life ! The sign coming In to our town says . WELCOME TO ABERDEEN COME AS YOU ARE ! One of Nirvana's big hits ! Mental health can hurt so many 💔
Thanks so much Mr. Clint for sharing. Mental health is really very important🌸have a wonderful day always🌸
I always loved driving through the town looking at all the murals on the brick buildings. It's a cool little logging town.
Fyi...Weird Al's proof of this song and video, which was endorsed by Kurt and Nirvana, is both funny and respectful
Haha thanks for sharing! I should check it out!
It's still hard to bargle zous!!! Plz take these marbles outta my mouth!!! 😂
i believe i was 19-20 when this came out. still hits the same after all this time
That’s great to hear!
Thanks for sharing🤗
I was one month shy of 17 when I heard this on American Top 40. You have no idea HOW IMPACTFUL this was. Great video!
Thanks for sharing😊
The Grunge era had so many great singers! Glad you’re looking into this era. Please react to ‘Where did you sleep last night’ from unplugged. Speaking of unplugged Pearl Jam ‘Black’. You’ll love ‘Nothing Compares to You’ cover by Chris Cornell’ and my favorite Alice In Chains. Great harmonies and Layne Staley is a powerhouse’Man in the Box’ live might 🤯
Oh thanks so much for sharing all of these, i will definitely check it out, have a great day always💕
Smells Like Teen Spirit was my ringtone for about 5 years. Lol. Great reaction.
Thanks so much
@@AaliyahCapili you're welcome.
Cool reaction. Cobain is amazing. Painfull and power song. Wonderfull.!!
Thanks so much
Very surprised you know + love this song, but that’s very cool. I was in high school when this came out and exploded as a hit single. It had such a huge impact- the rest of the Seattle bands and then alternative rock came on like a crashing wave. I was fortunate enough to see Nirvana live on Halloween night in 1993. It was a concert venue with flannel shirts everywhere, and the band was very loud and good. And of course this song will always pack incredible energy.
Wow that’s awesome thanks for sharing and commenting 😊
Wow your the first person other than myself, to have seen Nirvana in concert in 1993. I mean first other commenter. Best concert ever!
That “in high school we had this thing called battle of the bands” part was so cute 🤣🤣. Yeah that’s a big deal here in the states young lady , there’s even like county and national level competitions of it depending on where you live. We know what it is lol
Aww thanks so much for sharing Mr. Mookie🤗😍🤗have a great day always🤗🤗🤗
"It's hard to find a well that won't run dry."
🤗🤗🤗
My favorite song of all time! 🤘
I like your explanations, they give me another vision of the song that I did not know, now when I listen to the song I will enjoy it more!
Nice video!🙌❤️👏
Thanks so much Mr. Victor, have a great day always💕
Wow nirvana! One of my fav band. Nice reaction aaliyah. Ingat palagi 😊🙏
Thank you po💕kayo rin po, ingat parati Mr. Joseph🤗
This song blew everyone away at the time when hair metal was king. Nirvana and Guns N Roses was a reminder that music should have soul and substance. Nirvana imperfect in some ways, but like punk in the 70s didn't need to be
Oh woah I see, Thanks for sharing!
Thanks so much for sharing Mr. Dan🤗
Calling guns and roses metal is disrespectful to actual metal lol that’s why Kurt punched axel that night. Fuck fake ass hair metal
Great song fun reaction… Rock on!
🥰
A grunge girl at heart :)
hehe thanks 😃
This takes me back to high school. I'm sure you know it, but just in case, their unplugged cover of Man Who Sold The World is really cool too.
Oo I should check it out thanks!
@@AaliyahCapili where did you sleep last night unplugged is even better trust me. It put them in legend status for all time
🎸🎸🎸🎸 100% agree with you, Aaliyah. 💕💞💕💞
Thank you♥️
This song was amazing and it was change Rock music forever so it is nice to see you listening 90's music 🎶
Thanks for your kind appreciation Mr. Joel🤗
Hi Aaliyah. I know this band well and I've never watched a reaction video of them. I love your reactions and insight. I was a grunge teen. I went to school with Kurt and Krist. Good ol Aberdeen WA. Krist is tall like me. When we was about 13, I tried to get him on the basketball team. Nope, too busy jamn ha ha. Garage bands on every block just about. Hope you had a good weekend Aaliyah.
That’s so cool Thanks for sharing! I hope you had a good weekend as well! 😊
Also check out Weird Al's parody of this song "Smells Like Nirvana." Very funny and almost as good. (I even like it a little better).
Haha thanks I will check it out!

Love your reactions! ❤
Thanks so much
I'd like to see a video of you performing the Aria de Xerxes, or Ombra mai fu. It's one of my faves.
🥰
When my bandmates first heard this song. It got real quiet and we all said . Oh No. Because we recognize a new genre of music was born. We played hard Rock. Sorta like Metallica. And we was right for about 10 yrs our style of music lost favor and grunge exploded. But not mad. We had some great bands come out of it like. "Alice in Chains" "Nirvana" "Pearl Jam" "Soundgarden" "stone temple Pilots" Aaliyah if you want to hear some great vocals check out. Alice in Chains Down in a Hole (MTV Unplugged) or " Nutshell " Layne Staley lost his battle with his adction not long after that performance.😪🤘
Thanks so much Mr.Daniel for sharing all of these, i truly appreciate it💕♥️💕
I agree with you 50% in that "Here we are now, entertain us" is brill, however you have not given the preceding lyric it's proper due: "Not just stupid and contagious..."😅
Aside from that you're quite spot-on
Thanks so much for sharing and for the feedback Mr. John🌺
I can see you as a nirvana rocker-girl for sure🤗 🤟
🥰😍🥰
Greetings from Scotland! What's better than Classic Nirvana? Not a lot! I defy anyone to sit still when listening to this! It just oozes power! Great reaction to a great song Aaliyah!
Thank You So Much! 😀
Thanks so much Mr. Peter😍
Yodel is one technical term I've heard for that whimper/voice crack.
Thanks for sharing Mr.Jeff🌺
If you want to see a cool performance by them check out 'Drain You (Live On "Nulle Part Ailleurs", Paris, France/1994)'

Thank you too🌸
That's because he's saying "hello, hello, how low."

@@AaliyahCapili try where did you sleep last night mtv unplugged i hope you'll love it.
*One of those classic rock songs....unfortunately Kurt is now RIP*
Yup his death was very tragic 😔
@@AaliyahCapili Odd you never mentioned it in your video
@@my.business oh i was thinking that if i should just focus on the song and I wasn’t sure if i should talk about his death 😔😢😞
@@AaliyahCapili I see
PLEASE REACT....pearl jam black mtv unplugged👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks so much Mr. Marlon, i will check it out too💕
If Kurt could have better understood his wonderful gift he may have protected it against the negative storm of his emotions that led him to take his own life in such a brutal manner.
Now U gotta dig into Nirvana lil bit deeper react to MTV Unplugged - Man who sold the world or really anything here an historic event to enjoy.
Thanks so much for sharing💕
This song was so emblematic of its time and place, but also has a universal appeal. I had never noticed Kurt singing along to those guitar string bends before. Great insight and analysis, Aaliyah! If you're looking for a follow-up, I'll recommend Foo Fighters song February Stars. Their singer/guitarist Dave Grohl was Nirvana's drummer. Here's a link: ua-cam.com/video/-gjiBwF0K64/v-deo.html

Aaliyah you should do a Grunge musical Rock Opera . Sorta like the 60s musical "HAIR" I bet you could make it a success!! Ironically the first "Rock Opera" type album was by British psychedelic band called "Nirvana" in 1967 called "The Story of Simon Simopath" The Who's 1969 record Tommy was the first album to be billed as a rock opera. The Tommy album developed into other media, including a Seattle Opera production in 1971. Seattle is where grudge started. You also have "rap opera" by The Fat Boys.. You have American Idiot, a punk rock opera by Green Day. I think grudge opera would make a better musical because of how grunge exploded onto music so fast then it died just as fast and left a hole in music.
Oh wow thanks so much for sharing😍much appreciated😍
@@AaliyahCapili yeah I get a little carried away with my knowledge of music sometimes. I just love music. Been around it since birth. My whole family was musicians. My dad was a sought after studio drummer. Both my uncles was rock guitarist. I masterd percussion by the age of 12 then seen led zeppelin and was blown away by Jimmy page's guitar work. I quickly bought a acoustic guitar started hanging around my uncle's picked up anything I could. We didn't have the internet in the 70s and guitar books was hard to find. If wanted to learn a song you bought the album and play until you wore it out.
"Here we are now, hot potatoes!" :)

🤗
he was the worst technically vocalist of grunge.. you had Layne Staley from Alice In Chains, Eddie Vedder from Pearl Jam, or Chris Cornell from Soundgarden/Audioslave... and even Mark Lanegan from Screaming Trees...
even thoug, grunge was not know for technicality, so, I will give you a break :D
Oh thanks so much for sharing Mr. Fredi😍have a wonderful day always😍
Kurt was punk at heart. His main purpose in his vocals was to convey emotion.....which he did well. He didn't care about being technical when it came to his voice or guitar playing.
@@emilybrooke3095 yes, that's why I said he was not the most technical from grunge... the examples I posted were better, but that being said, Kurt was a genius, many people said he was not tuned... but he was really tuned to his instruments that were not tuned in standard tuning... he sounded great and managed to convey the feelings of his songs amazingly
It was nearly impossible to understand what he was actually saying, but so many of the songs hit us in the feels, it's a very strange thing Nirvana
Check out some Alice In Chains!!
Thanks so much, i will check it out too💕
