I have been observing Mongolian culture since a child reading national geographic. I'm now 67 years old. Thank you for putting sound to the pictures.
that's interesting, why were you so connected to mongolian culture in particular?
Same!! It's such a wonderful culture. I wish I could connect with it more, but people would never accept that because I wasn't born into it... At least it's acceptable to observe :)

Those are sheep's or goat's ankle bones, which are traditional toys, but in this case they threaded bunch of them into some sort of musical instrument .
The bones are called "Shagai".
I see a few people commenting on his range. The high-pitched sounds isn’t actually coming from his vocal cords, it’s an overtone generated by the vibrations in the cords and honed by the his oral posture. It’s akin to a whistle!
Super cool technique, super hard to do, and super impressive that he’s doing it while ALSO ripping it up on the tovshuur.
Jo Hogan They’re low-pitched sounds not high 😉

Papá does the most ancient and raw part of the song with his voice, while bebé does the most beautiful and caring with her voice. About instruments, she adds a simple but fundamental sound with her elaborated instrument, while Mr Batzorig help us immerse through the strings of the one he's playing. Equally equilibrated, both are in balance and it's beautiful 😍❤️❤️❤️

Throat singing is the most underrated music in all of history
Right? I hate how people would laugh at it but its so hard trying to sing like this.

Yeah alongside Gregorian Chants it's my favorite.
Maybe..live looping can take it all to entirely new ( octave of improv is nation

It's incredible how much humans can do to create music. An instrument with just two strings can make that much sound and someone's throat can do all that! It's awesome!
Don't forget the spine she's playing with 😂
So happy that there are Daddy’s out there teaching their children their culture and ways, so awesome to see and hear this way of singing 👏🏻👏🏻👍🙏
A year ago I traveled in Mongolia. I walked around their major city, and I lived with two different nomadic families in their yurts. As I was about to leave the country, I suddenly realized something. In a full month, I had never so much as heard an adult raise their voice to their child. The children were happy, curious and polite. The adults treated them gently, with care, respect and love. I have traveled in 23 countries. The rest of the world could learn something about parenting from Mongolians.
That's wonderful. I've always to go there and stay. It looks like such a hard life, but to be so connected to your people's ancient ways seems very powerful.
That's a wonderful compliment! :)

I obviously know nothing of Mongolian culture, but I'd like to acknowledge and send my deepest appreciations to you for holding on to your beautiful traditions and having so much fun with them in a time where true culture seems to be losing itself to a superficial world.
While it is interesting, what makes ancient culture inherently better than modern culture?
@@kingchickenwing4887 not necessarily better, but just as deserving of praise.
i don't really know the words to express what i really want to say about the subject, but i come from a very distinctive culture inside brazil, one that is not really known to the outside world (even outside of my state in brazil even) and i'm very happy to see that my culture lives on, however different from "the old days" as it is right now.
i guess if it is a "bad" culture (meaning it's rooted on "bad values", it will inevitably change to accommodate different, modern views, and that is a good thing.). But i also think the ways we display our cultural backgrounds around the world is a thing worthy of praise. values can change, even more so in the current world, but those roots of expression should always be preserverd.
ps: my home state in brazil is the most southern state, there is such a plurality of cultures and cultural expression mixed in the "image" of "my people", from portuguese and spanish to native and african cultures. it's such a mix that it creates a altogether different culture and different ways of expressing oneself. it might be somewhat superficial, but it carries a lot of cultural meaning that is somewhat "lost" in "modern culture". it might not hold all the same values as a "modern culture", but it is just as deserving of praise for holding a common cultural identity. the "bad" values can alwas be changed, and i believe that is our duty as a people to change those values, but i believe there is valour in holding one's cultural expression and background.
Hope everything is good with you and your family in theses trying times. love, from brazil.
@@bernardogomes9891 I think that you expressed your beliefs and feels very well and obviously well thought out. Bravo
@@kingchickenwing4887 I think for some it's the feeling that a lot of modern art and art forms were only made because there was money to be made. Personally I find that a bit iffy because a lot of modern art is genuinely made with passion and stuff but to each their own ig.

Increíblemente hermoso.gracias Mongolia.
He looks like such a big, friendly, huggable guy.
That is until he conquers the world
That's jolly green giant NPC in his day off.
I'd like to give them both a hug!
I love the part when her voice cracks and she starts smiling at her dad, who smiles back and nods encouragingly. You can tell he just wants her to have a good time singing these traditional songs

I thought the exact same thing. We all have amazing heritage of which to be proud, but very few things make me happier than when my own children take a genuine interest in learning about theirs. In my case, it's mostly Irish, and if I heard bagpipes and Mongolian throat singing with the morin khuur accompanying, I'm pretty sure I'd pass out from the sheer bliss.
not only that. Normalizing making mistakes, having a laugh instead of breaking down after a mistake is made - that's amazing parenting. In other words, there's beauty everywhere
I love throat singing! I've picked it up like 4 years ago, mostly trying how it works. ive now learned the basics of Kargyra, Khoomei and Sygyt. Recently I've started practicing more.
Thank you for sharing this wonderful part of your musical culture and showing the love between a father and a daughter. This warmed my ❤.

I am too young to be a boomer, but I would like to say how annoying it is when people say “okay boomer”. I’m so sick of hearing it and in my experience it’s mostly gen Zs spouting this.
@@joylynch5204 🤣good luck and good day uncle!
When her voice cracked but she smiled and her father smiled back was just too wholesome for my heart.
