- Track 9 from the 1988 album, Power Metal.
LYRICS:
We wanna live our life forever each day.
To burn your candle at both ends.
Mach 10 velocity not slowing down at all.
Your metal heart just never bends.
Ah!
Don't stop to wait for life just burn it to the ground.
Burnnn!
It's time to sweat, have no regret, just burn it down.
Burnnn!
All your living for, is the glory in your heart.
Live hard, die great, burn it down!
As the years go by.
The road gets very steep.
It's time to stand or fall.
Can't leave my politics and words, honestly.
It took you going, after all.
Ah!
Don't stop to wait for life just burn it to the ground.
Burnnn!
It's time to sweat, have no regret, just burn it down.
Burnnn!
All your living for, is the glory in your heart.
Live hard, die great, burn it down!
Show 'em now!
Burnnn!
It's time to sweat, have no regret, just burn it down.
Burnnn!
All your living for, is the glory in your heart.
Burnnn!
It's time to sweat, have no regret, just burn it down.
Burnnn!
All your living for, is the glory in your heart.
Live hard, die great, burn it down!
I remember head banging to this after football practice 💪
This is the real pantera I still don’t understand why they are so embarrassed of there 80s material 🤟🤟
That badass riff in the middle before the solo is Dime's love letter to Hetfield. It's so reminiscent to the middle riffs of 'Whiplash' and 'Seek and Destroy'. But Dime did his own twist on it. That's the beauty of music.
dimes guitar melts my brain...
And His AWESOME Paul Di'Anno-like vocals
And His AWESOME Paul Di'Anno-like vocals
Listening to all the Pantera stuff since their glam days.. Man Dime was a gem, what a loss
One of my favorites from pantera
Now I may have started on Pantera with their newer stuff, but I can say I LOVE this album. Whenever they started to be metal.
They've always been metal, listen to the song Metal Magic, it's already heavier than anything glam and hard FM bands were playing, Pantera got heavier records after records like a lot of other bands, but it was metal from the beginning to the end!
@@kasebmohamed5468 This is heavy metal
No idea why newborn Pantera lovers hate this album...
Seems like they have to live a bit more to understand this masterpiece.
Very true
True
It's just like I prefer Anthrax & Metallica from 1983-1984, Metallica wasn't the same after they kicked Dave Mustaine out of the band, I believe that he made the band.
Anthrax kicked Joe Belladonna out then replaced him with John Bush, yeah what was going on there ?
They kinda went downhill from then !
Their hipster halfwits, who sacrifices goats 2 Skrillex on a nighty basis
@@RussellBooth1977 Dave Mustaine is Megadeth,Kirk Hammett did those Metallica Parts
That solo is super hot fire!
R.i.p big vin! Forever stronger than all!!
Why is this album so obscure? It is F***KING AWESOME!
I love all albums from Pantera :)
This whole album rocks really hard and it is such a shame that Pantera does not want to recognize it, I mean this is great heavy metal, like someone said, Judas Priest on steroids. Diamond Dave Dimebag Darrel was a real rocker and appreciated the use of minor chords and songwriting and everything. I don't understand how this album did not demolish the charts like it should've.
The album sold 40,000 copies in 1988 as an independent release. Metal forces magazine gave it a 95 out of 100 rating. So it was pretty successful....
They only wanted to play songs written by all 4 guys. Thats why this eventually got omitted from the setlist. What no one seems to remember is even CFH was almost entirely omitted from the setlist as it didnt represent the band they became.
@@integrity101 Yeah, CFH was really an old school 80's thrash album as opposed to the groove sound they developed on Vulgar Display' and later so the change after CFH was similarly dramatic to the change before CFH. Art of Shredding, Heresy, Domination, Shattered etc. all much more pure thrash than anything else with Shattered also fitting into the broader speed-metal category since the Halford-esque head voice he sings most of it in brings to mind Painkiller-era Priest. Even a half ballad like Cemetery Gates is not unlike the half ballads Metallica and Testament recorded, but less common in the groove sub-genre. Power Metal has at least as many thrash songs as glam/pop-metal songs and "Over and Out" didn't sound out of place when they were playing it on the CFH tour when they had longer sets,"Death Trap and "Down Below" are also pretty thrashy and others such as this track or the title track fit more into the speed metal category than anything else while "Hard Ride" is among the few songs definitely in a glam/pop-metal vein while the Keel song "Proud to be Loud" could probably be categorized as hair metal as well and "We'll Meet Again" is difficult to categorize, but also has elements of the glam/pop-metal era, but after those 3, the closest would be "Rock the World" as an arena-type anthem with 80's metal cliches lyrically, but that's really pure heavy metal in the vein of 80's Priest as opposed to glam/hair metal.
@@integrity101 Also interesting about the sales numbers. I do own copies of the early Pantera releases and they're not THAT hard to find in decent conditon so it's clear a fair amount circulated. Actually, all the falsetto/head voice stuff Phil did on CFH with high screams on almost every song make CFH more dated to the 80's sound since the latest I remember Phil doing that was the scream right after the solo in Psycho Holiday during their Hollywood show in June '92 meaning he was obviously still capable when they recorded VDOP in 1991 yet chose not to do any high screams like that. The whole concept of an 80's guitar hero inspired by Van Halen was also seen as similarly dated as the 90's went on so you'll notice it seemed less common for Dime to just let it rip for a minute long solo(.e.g, Psycho Holiday) later on, though he thankfully continued soloing and recorded some truly great ones on each album, unlike many other modern rock and metal guitarists of the 90's.
@@mattray9904 because CFH is a 88 album too technically
@@mattray9904 listen more .
This No Way falsetto or head voice .
Its fuckin chest support range ..
I remember hearing this on Z-Rock in Dallas in 1988 and being like woah, WTF is this?!!!
Phil's Range was goddamn colossal.
phil isn't singing
yes it is
@@eggsiscool7497 learn your shit... clearly you need to pick up some literature on PanterA... this is Phil...
And electric
@sczrz: Please don't blaspheme the Name of God. Peace!
I listen to all types of music, you name it seriously, but this is still kick ass since the first time I heard it like 5-6 years ago when I was a teen!
one of my fave's on this album !!!
Those who hate pantera in their power metal times is because they simply don't appreciate art
My favorite off Powermetal!!! Phil sounded like Rob Halford back than'''
phil isnt singing, dime is singing in this song
Lies, Dime only sang from time to time live, never on a studio album
they even said its dime singing in a documentary
@@eggsiscool7497
You call someone else "fucking stupid" when you are the one completely WRONG
e.e this is clearly phil's voice. dime's voice is deeper.
I agree. This not glam. If this is glam then so is Metallica.
Well said!
What the hell is glam this shit is bad ass so whatever glam is it obviously sucks
@@josephespinola4077 not dissing any of these bands, but Bon Jovi, Twisted Sister, Dokken, Ratt, Motley Crue, Whitesnake, these bands would be considered Glam metal, also known as Hair metal, they wore the flashy often feminine outfits and had the big hair and makeup. Pantera in this album cover was already violating the rules of hair metal, Metallica in 1986 was wearing ripped skinny jeans, cut off t shirts, white knock off Reebok sneakers, no makeup and as for the hair, I think that was just the rock style back then. Pantera kicks ass.
@@josephespinola4077 This is Thrash
Why do I get a lot of the power metal album sounds like Judas Priest ?
I love this album & I want to buy it !
PANTERA RULES!
I LOVE THIS FUCKING SONG, I WISH THEY EVER PLAYED IT LIVE, ROCKS SO FUKIN MUCH
listen, I've been playing guitar for a long time, taught lessons and played in a band for many years gigs along the east coast, the guitar work dimebag is putting down here is really timeless and epic, I learned basic blues major and minor scale stuff, worked with a bit of Ionian and Phrigian scale jam band stuff, but what metal scales are is very old fashioned classical guitar scales and God they are really addictive to listen to, in fact I find myself listening to mostly metal now days and playing mostly metal, I am really done with blues unless it is roots blues like Taj Mahal, basically a lot of the 60's british invasion stuff was basic Pentatonic Blues scale, that's really all it was, but I was born in 83, and my first Album at 5 years old was Van Halen, and still I think EVH is my favorite guitar player of all time, but I cant stop listening to these shredding classical scales, its very old roots guitar work, Spanish and Finger picking classical scales, they are very different, like the way classical music is different than a blues album, so dope tho, cuz I used to really hate when somebody would play classical guitar, till I met someone who was really good at it, but yeah Dimebag laid down some of the best progressive guitar work that made it to the mainstream, and who else plays that Rad Guitar that he has, that massive Dean Explorer, killer. RIP Brother. Dude Dimebag bro, Drop D, E flat 40 times fast, A power cord 5, A flat 5 times, G 10 times, repeat, Gain Up Bass up, Tone knob 7, thru two Hot open face Humbuckers, bridge one amped, make sure you got heavy guage metal strings, then hit one of those finger tap solos and try not to knock that bitch out of tune before the next song with the wammy bar at the end, never used it cuz of that, Yeah Dude

pm2007est Cool story bro.
I think it's a Dean ML, not an Explorer. The ML looks like a cross between the Flying V and the Explorer, so I can understand the confusion.
what the fuck did I just read
I love old school 'tera aswell. this album is beast
Here in 2024!
Yes 🤘🤘🤘
thanks for posting this shit-goddamn I miss pantera!!!!
I have to ask, out of all the bands of the 80's why specifically RATT as your comparison?
Remind me of early Helloween's albums
This album isn't even on spotify🤨
The best era of pantera for me is power metal through to a vulgar display of power. From far beyond driven onwards I wasn't into them as much and I've only heard to the stuff before cowboys from hell on UA-cam tbh.
This is great. Why not on Spotify?
I CAN STILL REMEMBER BANDS OF THAT ERA THAT WERE AS GOOD AS ANY OTHER BAND LIKE
ARMORED SAINT.
This ain`t glam this is fucking heavy metal!
It is..
WHEN PANTERA SOUND LIKE PROFFESIONAL MUSICIANS. OH YEAH BABY.BEST POWER METAL ERA

Burnnnnnnnnn!
fucking love old pantera
This is their best album I dont care much for the later stuff
Very influenced by Priest and Accept. I think 80's and 90's Pantera are awesome. It just that they sounded really difference since Cowboys from hell.. it almost sounds like a different band.
It is a different band. PHIL joined, hence CFH.
I love this song! Pantera toward nice music before to cowboys from hell.
Vasilen Vasilev Correct. I don't know what goes through people's heads sometimes.
How can you consider getting heavier and more aggresive selling out?
By repeating an accepted Heavy and brutal approach for a crowd who'is not able to embrace creative individuality other than " Brutal and no compromise "which is haha .
The farther away from glam shit metal the more bad ass you are
@Potato Man no Pantera but Jp since Kk left and one million of thrash. Death metal bbands...
not a fan of newer pantera but this old shit kicks ass!
Viva El PowerMetal !

@1337JuiceLord THAT'S A DAMN GOOD DESCRIPTION

@fickifickmaster
You don't like CBFH even? imo the tough guy shit didn't happen till after CBFH.
change is inevitable.
The first good album on pantera

In my view this is their best album.i am not a trash fan heavy power metal rules
Great riffage
2019!!anyone ...
Yeah! 2019 right here! 🤘🤓
Gotta love the album cover of Vulgar Display of Power though...
That punch in the face, took over one hundred takes to get the right angle & volumes of hurt 🤕🤣
But hey every punch was paid for and it was a homeless guy of the street so Win, Win for both parties.
Hope it wasn't taken in one day!!! 🤔
Be like the walking dead with his jaw dragging alongside!!! 🤭🤭🤣
Check it out... Hats off to u good matee... Sure they slammed alot of drinking during that shoot!! Mostly for him, BEFORE & AFTER!! 😜🍻
BTW... LEAFS STILL SUCK. 57 YEARS, NO CUP! The last photo of the team of 67... WAS BLACK & WHITE!!! Poor Matthews, 69 goals reg season.. one goal, the whole series. Don't get it but Snooze ya lose. That's hockey though...
Game7 & overtime!!? Nothing better.
I said before the series started...
Which ever team wins this series is the Champ so " let's see what the snarling goblin of Marchand is come of this down the stretch of victory eehh? ) Go Oilers Go
McDavid needs the Cup! 9 years eh? Crosby... 4 years! 🤭😂
This music is cool and totally isn't fat.
Respetados Son lo Mejor
Only thing Pantera should be ashamed about their pre-Cowboys from Hell Album, is that there isn't reason not to acknowledge their early stuff, especially after they been discovered on the internet, and especially Power Metal album, i understand with the Terry Glaze era they might have to credit Terry Glaze if those albums were released! But when discovering blacklisted Pantera albums, Power Metal is the best of the bunch! Terry Glaze albums were also awesome! But Power Metal is the best out of all Pantera albums all together! And i understand they had to change their tune for the ongoing decade, and i can forgive that they put the early out of existence, but what i don't forgive is that they won't reissue them, and it sucks that both founders are no longer with us, so its practically onto Rex Brown, and sadly has against reissuing them, he says its only Pantera with Phil and the late Abbot brothers and himself, he discredit Terry Glaze, but then again, lately Phil and Rex brought Zack Wylde and Anthrax drummer to reformed Pantera, which to me sounds like a real disgrace, and that kind of makes Rex a hypocrite! Regardless, Power Metal will always surpass any Pantera album in general!
All you're** living for....
havok, Evile, Gama bomb, Tantara, lazarus a.d. and Holy grail. All new thrash

@AustinLuck78 I think more like megadeth peace sells so far so good so what
@TOSportsFan1990
More like Racer X
My mom doesn't like Pantera. Now I don't have a mom.
Si me dan a opinar, no cabe duda que Pantera fue mejor en su época antigua hasta Cowboy From hell... el cambio de estilo que realizo después no me gusto en absoluto.
un saludo.
When Phil's voices were better than Rob Halford even at Glam or Power Metal. He used to be one of the Best Metal vocalist, hands down..
Phil never was into glam bands .
Singing like Rob don't imply to be a glam vocalist .
Yikes... 😬 No depth. 🤔
Sounds like Megadeth with Metallica but the licks of the guitar solo, saved the song!!
Pantera was way better in the 80s! the only albums I care for in the 90s were Vulgar Display of power and Cowboys from Hell. Anything after that was garbage to me in my opinion.
Pantera albums before Cowboys from hell are shit
