They reformed recently, though no signs of new release but there is plenty of great new music. You just have to search for it harder. My personal recommendations for new, exciting music - Skinflint, Snowy Shaw, Rezet, Sons of Apollo, Melted Bodies, Avatar, Gunslingers, Compressorhead, Idles, Tengger Cavalry , Bloodywood, The Hu, Igorrr, Shining (Norway), Poppy, Nova Twins, Al-Namrood, Spiritbox, Plaag Also, there’s been many great releases from established artists. Judas Priest, Machine Head, Korn, Metallica… even Arthur Brown, yes, the guy who made “Fire” back in 1968, now 80 years old, released new album this year, surprisingly great.
@@teresahickey3021 no it was Dimes. The guitarist was killed by a giant walking asshole right in front of his brother Vinnie who is the drummer. RIP Dimes.
There's only one reason the era of classic metal spans into the 90s and that reason is because of Pantera. When metal was on the decline as popular metal bands faced decline in popularity and/or quality, Pantera injected the genre with new blood with this album, saving it and giving it another time in the spotlight as grunge was on the rise.
@@moeburn the thing about Nirvana was that Curt Cobane was the posterboy for grunge and he absolutely hated fame and did nothing but outrageous antics to get him more attention. Now was he being coy and secretively loving it or did he absolutely hate it? Now to address the grunge/metal conflict. As was metioned metal was on its way out and rock needing resuscitation grunge was what gave it new life. Raw, unpolished, and different ppl saw it as degrading to metal bc the simplistic riffs and arrangements and repetitive vocals that had no substance (imo) Yes there's nothing wrong with grunge if you want to trade in your 1972 454 SS Chevelle for a gas saving Prius.
This tune was part of my youth. I was a teenager when it was first released, and I still remember it as a gig which set the standard for the generation of rock bands that flourished in the 90s. But we should point out that Pantera imposed the Power Metal genre within rock music, and that's why the band has become so popular ever since.
My intro to Pantera….they got me thru a lot of sleepless nights & a few tours in Mid East! Always be grateful of this metal band until my time is up in this world.🤘🏽

Oh you like WWE too, how nice! Although I prefer to watch UFC. Yeah the only thing our generation can do to stay alive is keep listening and trying to introduce it to our future kids or try to get our friends into it. I hope to god that metal never dies! Nothing beats metal.
I'm so glad my mom put walk on in the car so much when I was like 3 in about 2007. Because of that I would go back and listen for nostalgia realizing it's friggin amazing. I was a metal head before I even knew it! And I've heard that I would sit in front of a fireplace and start singing walk. I don't remember that but I know if my sister does that I'm going to laugh my butt off
when i was about seven, i would sit upstairs listening to smoke on the water all day whilst my sister was downstairs with the top 40, and my dad would play maiden songs on his old radio... now i like brutal deathcore music. its great how little things can expose you to so much...
Lyrics : Oh, come on! Under the lights where we stand tall Nobody touches us at all Showdown, shootout, spread fear within, without We're gonna take what's ours to have Spread the word throughout the land They say bad guys wear black We're tagged and can't turn back You see us comin' And you all together run for cover We're taking over this town Here we come reach for your gun And you better listen well, my friend, you see It's been slowed down below Aimed at you, we're the cowboys from hell Deed is done again, we've won Ain't talking no tall tales friend 'Cause high noon, your doom Comin' for you we're the cowboys from hell Pillage the village, trash the scene But better not take it out on me 'Cause a ghost town is found Where your city used to be So out of the darkness and into the light Sparks fly everywhere in sight From my double barrel, 12-gauge Can't lock me in your cage You see us comin' And you all together run for cover We're taking over this town Here we come reach for your gun And you better listen well, my friend, you see It's been slowed down below Aimed at you, we're the cowboys from hell Deed is done again, we've won Ain't talking no tall tales friend 'Cause high noon, your doom Comin' for you we're the cowboys from hell Here we come reach for your gun And you better listen well, my friend, you see It's been slowed down below Aimed at you, we're the cowboys from hell Deed is done again, we've won Ain't talking no tall tales friend 'Cause high noon, your doom Comin' for you we're the cowboys from hell, ahhh Step aside, we're the cowboys from hell

thats no accident, if the AI actually scrubs the videos, panteras music progressions are very classical...or u can say mozart progressions are very metal....rock tf on!!!

He will get more credit when he passes. Cause sadly people seem to notice/respect/give more credit to people once they are dead, instead of when they were alive to actually hear it all...
Song gives me chills everytime i hear it. A girl friend in highschools dad was a metal head and when we figured out we both loved metal we started bonding and hanging. I remember just jamming in his truck and riding around. Chad was a hell of man
One thing that I like about Pantera, their tracks always sounded like a band....can hear the bass, in instrumental breaks, solos. Sometimes no backing guitar tracks at all. Not like a crappy studio release.
They play at fools get togethers...meet them with a handful of fist....ill rock your punk ass up so bad you'll need to explain to yo boy why it wasnt a suprise party... i dont care but nothing fuck your hateful selves up...glue your foolish mouth shut....you know personally you i aint playing games....
This is one of the hardest riffs I could never quite play properly......It's like you have give everything you've got, but that was Diamond Darrel...he poured just pure energy into his playing, never heard anyone else like him.
To all the young kids out there: Pantera is just one of many reasons why we think modern metal sucks. THIS is true Metal. There will never be another band like Pantera.
Well, I can't argue with you there. But I will say one thing: Parkway Drive is actually pretty good considering what they are up against with a lot of modern day bands. Plus, they have some pretty nice guitarists. Sure they can't even hold a candle to the mark Pantera has left on the Metal world, but they are still pretty good compared to a lot of new bands. I highly recommend them.
Rex has such an awesome stage presence, phils vocals took this band to a new level. Nothing wrong with the 2 musicians that are filling in for dime & vinnie. I gotta see this new version of Pantera while they're on tour!
I still can't ever get past when I was just a freshman high school and PanterA changed my life FOREVER!!!! I mean ugh having to grow K-8th in Baptist School but never fitting in as I just never bought into any of the popular trends, or felt the void filled! Then one day 2002 in September This Music Video came on middle of the night and I saw and HEARD the greatest just EVERYTHING! And I was just His solo on this song I imagine it had the same effect on so many others! But I had to get Vulgar Display Of Power! And I finally had that void not just filled but sealed with PRIMAL CONCRETE SLEDGE! And I just while too young to have seen PanterA live, I was getting my news from the metal Magazines! And then as Damageplan was getting up going Darrell and Vinnie Hosted this show and I was just... Two brothers, Two DemiGods, Two of the greatest Musicians and well Who didn't have Darrell and Vinnie somewhere on their wall growing up! These two brothers were bigger than any others! The Abbotts even put those Romulus&Remus to shame as Power Groove is so beyond words! I got tickets to see Damageplan and while so young so excited! When I arose December 9th, 2004 I was in shock as details hadn't been completely out but at first when I learned It was a just... No words, I know everyone was the same as it just couldn't be! But It just 20 years... I only December 8th as a day of just celebrating the Life and Impact And the Fun Dime brought to our world! Dime and Vinnie are Eternal!!! Everyone stay safe this holiday season and Getcha Pull for how These Brothers changed your life! Thank you so so much!!! \m/ forever!
Pantera was visionary in the music industry and way ahead of their time. Here we are exactly thirty years later, and their music has preserved well. The sound is as if freshly composed today. For those unaware, Pantera not only paved the way for mainstream Punk Metal, but also created the sub-genre known today as Groove Metal. 🤘 In my opinion, a sub-genre far greater than either independent genre - metal or punk. Any 'true' Music Enthusiast of that time experienced the proverbial, "Whoa!! Who the (beep) was that!?!?!" moment. That is, upon the initial15 sec of hearing a Pantera song for the first time. Much love and respect to Phil, Dime, Rex, & Vinnie. 🤘
Well, I'm not from that time but when I heard this song for the first time I went exactly like you described😂. I was expecting a purely thrash metal song, but the glam/hair metal influences got to me right when the first riff came out. Never gets old or boring. What a master piece. It is a pity that we don't get music like this these days.
mr shekelstein would rather have your kids listen to the latest mechanically manufactured niggerbop mumble beats instead.
They reformed recently, though no signs of new release but there is plenty of great new music. You just have to search for it harder.
My personal recommendations for new, exciting music - Skinflint, Snowy Shaw, Rezet, Sons of Apollo, Melted Bodies, Avatar, Gunslingers, Compressorhead, Idles, Tengger Cavalry , Bloodywood, The Hu, Igorrr, Shining (Norway), Poppy, Nova Twins, Al-Namrood, Spiritbox, Plaag
Also, there’s been many great releases from established artists. Judas Priest, Machine Head, Korn, Metallica… even Arthur Brown, yes, the guy who made “Fire” back in 1968, now 80 years old, released new album this year, surprisingly great.

How dare you mention grunge on a Pantera comment section.
I agree! I'm 52 and just stumbled on to this because back in the day I had already given up on metal.
It was my loss because I really dig this.
there's nothing wrong with grunge, don't be a metalhead stereotype looking down on every other genre. i like this and I like Nirvana.
Raw, unpolished, and different ppl saw it as degrading to metal bc the simplistic riffs and arrangements and repetitive vocals that had no substance (imo)
Yes there's nothing wrong with grunge if you want to trade in your 1972 454 SS Chevelle for a gas saving Prius.
@@moeburn same here. nirvana kicks ass
This tune was part of my youth. I was a teenager when it was first released, and I still remember it as a gig which set the standard for the generation of rock bands that flourished in the 90s. But we should point out that Pantera imposed the Power Metal genre within rock music, and that's why the band has become so popular ever since.

This still holds up 100% in 2016! Thats what you can call a metal masterpiece. Same with Walk.
"cemetery gates" too, "5 minutes alone" and "Hollow". All are great classics, it's a fucking shame 80-90's metal fans are a dying generation. I was born 00! And I am grateful as fuck that my brother showed me Pantera, Avenged Sevenfold, Sabaton, Black Sabbath to name a few ( Metallica and Megadeth too ) without him i wouldn't be the person I am and i would probably br listening to 1D and Justin Beiber. +Supercard Syndicate Nice a reply from a fellow WWE fan hell yeah man haha
Lyrics :
Oh, come on!
Under the lights where we stand tall
Nobody touches us at all
Showdown, shootout, spread fear within, without
We're gonna take what's ours to have
Spread the word throughout the land
They say bad guys wear black
We're tagged and can't turn back
You see us comin'
And you all together run for cover
We're taking over this town
Here we come reach for your gun
And you better listen well, my friend, you see
It's been slowed down below
Aimed at you, we're the cowboys from hell
Deed is done again, we've won
Ain't talking no tall tales friend
'Cause high noon, your doom
Comin' for you we're the cowboys from hell
Pillage the village, trash the scene
But better not take it out on me
'Cause a ghost town is found
Where your city used to be
So out of the darkness and into the light
Sparks fly everywhere in sight
From my double barrel, 12-gauge
Can't lock me in your cage
You see us comin'
And you all together run for cover
We're taking over this town
Here we come reach for your gun
And you better listen well, my friend, you see
It's been slowed down below
Aimed at you, we're the cowboys from hell
Deed is done again, we've won
Ain't talking no tall tales friend
'Cause high noon, your doom
Comin' for you we're the cowboys from hell
Here we come reach for your gun
And you better listen well, my friend, you see

Aimed at you, we're the cowboys from hell
Deed is done again, we've won

To all the young kids out there: Pantera is just one of many reasons why we think modern metal sucks. THIS is true Metal. There will never be another band like Pantera.
Well, I can't argue with you there. But I will say one thing: Parkway Drive is actually pretty good considering what they are up against with a lot of modern day bands. Plus, they have some pretty nice guitarists. Sure they can't even hold a candle to the mark Pantera has left on the Metal world, but they are still pretty good compared to a lot of new bands. I highly recommend them.

In my opinion, a sub-genre far greater than either independent genre - metal or punk.
