I refuse to believe that he isn't here anymore. A talent like no other, songwriter, singer, artist and from interviews an intelligent funny suberb human being. A beautiful soul.
He’s immortalised by his legacy..Hero’s never truly die.
Indeed. Bowie lives! A true good human,a true artist.
Notice how everything turned to Sh#t since he left us?
Had a heart attack on stage, went off, towelled himself down, did the rest of the gig on a stool, went to Hospital, never toured again. He’s given us so many great songs. We should never underestimate the mans impact on music.
Prehistoric ; historic ; hysterical. He's a Star, a super Star. He's my best friend, you know :B
So Translator opened a Day On The Green show with The Tubes and Bowie. He was very pleasant to all - stood in the food line with the rest of us, but of course had a lovely tent city set up for him and we went back to our trailer. A thrill, our biggest show. RIP, the man was a god.
Sadly, This would be Bowie’s last tour. Saw him over thirty times, not one bad concert.
You're wrong. He did the Reality tour in 2003/2004. Many shows but was cut short near the end when he had his heart problem.
@@dickiefears5832 I’m counting this as a part of the Reality tour.
@@AtomicVampire1 this is the heathen tour, not reality.
I agree, although I think he was on his peak with Scary Monsters, but that was on a so high level not many artists ever reach.
Omg that is so cool that you saw David that often.
David Bowie’s death was the first celebrity death that really felt personal to me. I was 10 or 11 when I first heard of David Bowie and he was a musical giant for decades to come. My god, I’m old. Seeing him in concert in 1989(?) will always be one of the highlights of my life.
I saw him in the 80's, too.. Glass Spiders tour? It was amazing.
@@brandishowalter3680 I saw him during his Station To Station tour. A wonderful time.
Mne was Karen Carpenter.
Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin . . . Richie Valens, Blues Brothers John Belushi. . . R.I.P.
@@brandishowalter3680 actually it was 1990. Sound + Vision tour.
Bowie's performance of "'Heroes'" on 6 June 1987, at the German Reichstag in West Berlin has been considered a catalyst to the later fall of the Berlin Wall. Following his death in January 2016, the German government thanked Bowie for "helping to bring down the Wall", adding "you are now among Heroes". You cut off the video at end, but Bowie says "I felt that" and touches his heart.
That way this clip always gets me ....I tear up everytime...🙏
@ Michael Hopkins: You sure they did that because of the Performance? I mean Bowie lived in Berlin for a couple of years in the late 70's. (together with Iggy Pop) He came off of drugs there, and he wrote several songs, including Heroes, which is about a couple near the Berlin wall that gets shot at by border guards while kissing.
I'd think it was because of the song in itself, being written in and about the situation of people in Berlin. Not just because of one single performance of his.
@@nirfz The concert riled up people on both sides...in East Berlin people came to the wall so they could hear the concert. It was one of a series of events that exerted pressure on East German Government and Gorbachev to finally dismantle the wall. Here's an article about it - www.vox.com/2016/1/11/10749546/david-bowie-berlin-wall-heroes
Also, a video - www.the-berlin-wall.com/videos/david-bowie-plays-berlin-711/
I was there that night and was in tears listening to him sing this and hearing all the people behind the wall joining in.
My favorite Bowie song. Puts me in a trance every time. He was a true rarity: a complete performance artist.
My true rock is David Bowie.
Him and Prince
Real true Artists.... Freddie, Bowie and Prince... just look at any of their performances, so missed it hurts🙏
Mine too, gave birth to my first 8th Jan with this playing on the hospital radio.....
@@happybunny8704 bless🙏... hope your child got a great middle name like Zowie...Bowie... David or Davey.. peace🤘
The only celebrity music star death that affected me deeply. He was amazing.
The first album I remember is Let's Dance (80s kid). It still just feels so...unnatural that he's gone. Absolute legend, no one like Bowie.
Me too , a wonderful person
Not Lennon at all?
Same for my hubby and I
@@pdog547 I loved his music from 1974 as a 12 year old. I have 11 LPs and it only covers up to 1979!!!
No ego, just a natural who never sold himself or us short.
Don't kid yourself, he had a huge ego. That's not a bad thing, sense of self. You need it go out on stage in front of thousands anst entertain the hell out of them.
I loved David Bowie and watching this made me choke up and brought tears to my eyes! RIP David Bowie - lost too soon
I must be getting old, coz I find it's hard to watch live version of his song now... for the same reason... I just well up... so missed... what a Human being... ❤✌🙏
@Luna Raven knew you wouldn't miss a Bowie video.. and yes that lauf and smile could melt my heart.. love it.. 🙏
@Luna Raven I found Prince doing a version of this (audio only) that brought tears to my eye and a chill too! Just and big "softy" at heart.. ✌
@Luna Raven Prince can bring the Funk so much it knocks me out!....☮🙏
Just a genuine gentleman. Gosh I miss him. Like Freddie, there will never be another David Bowie. His videos and music just make me smile. Life just got darker the day he left us behind but the stars are brighter now. RIP Ziggy💔
He opened The Concert for NYC after 9/11 with Simon and Garfunkel’s America and then sang this. The venue went crazy. It was so emotional.
I will never forget that concert. Wonder if it’s on UA-cam? Can you believe it’s nearly 20 years? I remember every detail of that period. 💜🕊
@@sherlockhemlock5655 'America' still is.......but 'Heroes' was taken down for some reason. I once found it on Liveleaks I think. It's my FAVORITE live performance of that song.
He was quite ill that night, but insisted on going on. He collapsed after completing his set and going off stage.
Wish it was available to view. Watched it at the time, but would love to re-watch. It was unforgettable.
@@clareparfittwinchester5244 it is weird that it’s rarely been viewable after it played off. I think the double CD is available but that’s it.
The way the song built up… it was so subtle, but before you know it they were rocking. What a performer. One of the greats. RIP.
Excellent choice. Heroes is one of his iconic songs and a brilliant live version.
This tour was wonderful for him. He exposed himself as David Jones. No characters or gimmicks. It’s said that he enjoyed this tour the most because he was so relaxed and really ready to just be Bowie. He gave this his all❤️
You should have finished the last few seconds of the clip as Bowie tells his audience: "I felt that"! as he motions to his heart. Excellent performance!
I saw Bowie 3 times - 1983, 1987 and 2004. Each time - he is a consumate performer, he has a presence, and is a professional in entertaining his audience. Strange to think that the show I saw in 2004 would be my last time. Losing Bowie was a kick to the guts....so many songs - Loving The Alien, Life on Mars, Cat People, China Girl, The Glass Spider (album track from Never Let Me Down), Bring Me The Disco King ( album track, but an awesome live version on his 2004 tour), The Man Who Sold The World, Within You (from Labyrinth) - I could add so many!!
I have been to hundreds of concerts over the years and each time I saw Bowie, he was one of only two people who literally made my knees weak when he walked on stage...his charisma oozed from him like a light...amazing...miss him so much... x
I have no idea why this song makes me cry. Everytime.
It's ok.💐
You’re not alone. I get tears eyed every time.
sometimes I cry too
It's a beautiful song. Takes me away every time.
I will never forget seeing him at the Milton Keynes Bowl in 1990. The much missed David Bowie RIP.
I feel fortunate to have seen David Bowie in 1978 during his Isolar II tour. I’ve been a fan since the early 70s and continue to love his music. It hurt my heart when he died.
David was my very first concert.. Station to Station tour. My first Rock star crush 😍. Never got over him. Cried for days when he passed away
RIP Beautiful Man❤
There was, and can only ever be, one David Bowie. RIP.
You got that right!🤘🤘😍
I get chills when I see/ hear David Bowie. Consummate showman, brilliant songwriter and actor. The concert sounds almost exactly like the original recording. Hats off to all of the musicians.
After David Bowie died, Prince added "Heroes" to his live shows. Prince combined his "Dolphin" with Bowie's "Heroes" into a beautiful piece in his "Piano & A Microphone" tour shows.
That made me cry so much...coz with Feddie, David and Prince gone.... so are my "Hero"🙏
Queen + Adam Lambert, too...they played David's recording of Heroes at the end of concerts on their 2019 tour.
@Luna Raven went off on a Bowie night after last comment, got it out of my system now...thanks Bud bless ya 🙏
He was so lovely, so talented and exciting. I couldn't believe it when he died.
Me too❤
RIP Mr Bowie. No one will ever replace you. The music world is better for your music and for your influence on other artists. His loss still brings me to tears.😀👍🎶❤️
True so..... True..🙏
David Bowie recorded the Album "Heroes" in West Berlin in the 70ties. I live in Berlin and just last weekend I discovered the house in Berlin-Schöneberg where Bowie lived from 1976-1978 ( together wirh Iggy Pop!).
He'd dropped the personas. This was the real, adorable, witty and funny David Jones. R.I.P legend.
OH Jovaughn! You gotta do a reaction to studio version of Heroes! No joke, it's completely different. TRUST ME.
Yep? I agree
@@yasminm7157 the sound production on the studio version is just stunning.
Live version rocks but I agree the studio version is EPIC!!!
Yep, agreed. It’s an epic experience.
I agree he needs to hear that one
Great performance, as all by David Bowie are. He is relaxed and authentic. He enjoyed performing live. His energy was always amazing.
That would be an encore to anyone else, but that was just the middle. Bowie!
As a child in the '70s I grew up listening to Bowie. I only saw him live once, but it was priceless, '83 in Oakland … Always loved him and his world.
I have occasionally had online conversations with Duncan Jones, the film director, who, by the way, is an absolutely lovely guy. I've never asked him about his Dad, I always felt I would be intruding, but I really hope he sometimes comes to places like this and reads these comments and sees just how much David meant to so many people. RIP David.
Bowie was so good in concert. I saw him on the Station to Station tour and the Sound and Vision Tours. - phenomenal tours. Stay on the Bowie train, please!
Oh, you lucky diamond dog!
This man is up there with the absolute best. What I love about his live performances- even as Ziggy Stardust in the 70s - is his pure joy at singing live. We miss talent like this ❤️
I've watched this video about 100 times since I discovered it. I still get goose bumps on my neck when the music starts. It's from 1977 originally. I was 18, and will always be 18, despite the fact I'm 62. I said at the time: "No, this music belongs to the future." I'm still right. It still belongs to the future.
This man, had more talent in the dirt in his fingernails, then a lot of singers had in their whole body. Love his cockney account, and that voice. Jovaughn’s away with this awesome song.
From Bromley, not quite an ‘Ender but I guess you may get that SE accent mixed up a bit.
Love David Bowie!! Top of the list. My very first concert!! He is excellent live!!
I was driving to Las Vegas when I heard on the radio that David died. I'm still mourning him and I don't know why.
Forever Bowie 👩🏼🎤
Best thing that ever happened to music.
Cannot be rivalled by anyone.
Don’t think you’ve done Life on Mars yet Jay....it’s one of my favourite songs of all time.
Such true words.... only can add "Starman" to that request ...🥰
@@AB-zc8ps Actually Starman and Space Oddity are the two that hold the most nostalgia for me.
Beautiful, beautiful songs
This is very different from the original release of this song, but in true Bowie fashion, it is true to the spirit of the song.
Thank you Jay. I always love this song. And live it’s even better. David Bowie was wonderful. I miss him every day.😀👍❤️✌️🌼
No one better than Bowie…pure talent and genius.
Bowie’s passing was such an incredible loss to music. A true artist and such a unique voice, always creating, never staying the same. You can see by the way he was holding the crowd in the palm of his hand and making it look easy that he’d been doing it for decades by then.
If you haven’t already I strongly suggest reacting to Life On Mars. Others may have a different opinion, but for me that was Bowie’s masterpiece.
“Lazarus” Check out his last music video song he made before he died. It’s release and time of death were close, like he came back sick and near to record the video for everyone.
You picked an amazing vintage Bowie performance
How we all miss the Great White Duke. I love this version of Heroes. RIP, David. We miss you.
“And in that moment, I swear we were infinite.”
Perks of being a wallflower ❤️❤️
Bowie was a genius you are watching a true legend RIP DAVID
This has always been my favorite song by him, but now that he's gone - it brings me to tears
My oldest, wisest sister Lisa introduced me to this wonderful man's music/talent: she and I saw him live 3 times: he felt the love of over 60,000 at Commonwealth Stadium Edmonton, Alta August 7, 1983. Everyone sang along!! Sadly she passed away 9 months before he did. I like to think they are both dancing like nobody's watching, together. Thank you for this reaction, great memories. Suggestion: Panic in Detroit or Facination
Another legend that unfortunately is gone. He's made so much music and had different periods. Really a musician to look into from his start to end. You'll like what you hear, I'm sure.
This is one of my absolute favorites by David Bowie.
He was a Musical Genius - way ahead of his time, and gone too soon.
There will never be another like Bowie, always tuned into his audience, wonderful performance. You should check out Wild is the Wind ... for an unexpected and wonderful Bowie experience. Absolutely love your channel..so many great artists featured always look forward to who you will feature next.
Wild is the wind....great track🙏
He was having fun with it, putting a little extra jazz and 'stank' on it.
Bowie seems very happy here. The master of 😎 cool. So clever, a real show man...
She’s his almost lifelong bass player Gail Ann Dorsey...she also has a great voice😊!
Thank God I have a brother like you in the world ❤️
I would give up all the riches in the world to have Bowie’s voice.
I used to sketch David Bowie over and over when I was in high school, back in the late 70's. Just love him!
I’m so glad I had the opportunity to see him in concert. Start to finish an outstanding, fun concert. Please consider listening to suffragette city. It was the first song I heard of his. It made me an instant fan!
Love, love, love David Bowie. This is one of my favorite videos and songs of his. Rip David Starman Bowie.
His live version of this at Live Aid was epic. Everyone was a hero that day. He followed Queen
Ashes to ashes is a favorite Bowie song
Bowie was always at his very best in front of a live audience and this is the proof. This amazing song is about the Berlin wall coming down and the sudden freedoms which both East and West Germans were able to discover.
If you haven’t already, check out Space Oddity. The night he died, I just listened to it over and over.
I think J has already done it
ua-cam.com/video/xtPVLFPY_HM/v-deo.html
The song was recorded by the Berlin wall. The studio version has a different feel to it. David Bowie teamed up with Arcade fire to perform their song "Wake up" live. Great song.
My dude, Bowie is an absolute Icon of an artist.
Artists have created careers, mirroring his energy and creativity.
That's powerful
Probably my absolute favourite Bowie song!
@Scott Allen Is that the one with Robert Fripp?
He describes a situation of 2 lovers at the Berlin Wall. One coming from the West, the other one from East Germany. They have to separate before night and go back to their side of the wall. In the 70ies Bowie used to live in Berlin, working at Hansa-Studios right next to the wall. And there he also wrote this song. Singing this song in front of a Berlin crowd is giving me chills. Especially living here :) Bowie is very special to us Germans. // JayveeTV, I watch all of your videos. So emotional, entertaining and honest :)
The song was written at Hansa studios, next to the Berlin Wall, in 1977 or 78. It's partly about the Berlin Wall - the mention of guards - and David Bowie had a special connection with the people of Berlin, having lived there. He performed a concert in West Berlin, before the wall came down, right by the wall and loud enough for people on the East to hear.
My favourite Bowie song
You hit this right on time! I’m going through a Bowie renaissance right now. You can pull any song from this concert and not miss. I really love, “I’m Afraid of Americans.” Bowie had his eccentricities but at the root, Bowie was rock and roll. Real talk...
He mentioned the album Low which he is going to perform. Sound and Vision Iis the great hit off that album
Just played Low the other day...
Where Are We Now is one of his later songs and videos and it's poignant and beautiful. One of my favorites.
David Bowie just really loved to perform. The song was written kinda about the Berlin Wall and they recorded it near there. I guess that was the inspiration. But I really love the "Wall of Sound" feel to it as well. One of Bowie's best.
So much power in that voice - saw him a few times, such a happy entertainer. RIP David Bowie ❤
When he died, it was the first time a celebrity death really broke my heart.
Thanks love David Bowie. Rest in peace
owh I just love listening to his voice & the accent.
forever Bowie!
My man, he *always* delivered. When I saw his Sound and Vision tour, he had the flu. He came out and gave a solid performance for the first half; then took a somewhat longer than average intermission (maybe, what, five minutes longer?), and came back out . . . Then he rocked, and rocked, and rock-goded, and then, towards the end of "Young Americans," sat down in a chair for a minute or so, wiping the sweat away and taking several deep drinks of whatever was in that container (while we cheered and shouted, all of us knowing he was sick and appreciative of his "show must go on" attitude, since the word had gone out on all the radio stations that he was sick but still going to perform), then started singing the very next verse and got back up and finished the song, and proceeded to follow *that* with an encore which was the length of which most opening acts' you've ever seen while dancing with his backup singers like he was still some teenager. Can you imagine: sick as a dog, in his 40s, and still came out like the rock and roll superstar he was? I didn't have to; I was there.

Never made a selection but if you want to feature something different take a look at The Blue Man Group with Venus Hum singing 'I feel love'. You may have heard the song but not like this. Mad as hell. Thanks again for all the music you feature but of course particularly for the Bowie reactions. Regards from the Wales UK.
The story in the lyrics is of lovers from the East and West side of the Berlin wall and speaks to the determination of love conquering all. Some believe the song played a part in the wall coming down. Amazing song. Great reaction.
Love, love, love super versatile, dynamic David Bowie. Movie; Man Who Fell to Earth is decent Sci-Fi.
He was and always will be the "Man who Fell to Earth"...but what a man..🥰🙏
I loved the way his music changed as you went Thu the Decades. Every era had a different sound another from the 80,s Under pressure ft Queen R.I.P Legend.....

My favourite Bowie track, perfect pop song!💕
I love this song and I've seen this performance of it before (on UA-cam, sadly not live) and loved it, I think it just occurred to me that I think Bowie in this is just loving singing *his* song, it's different from the studio version but he just owns it and when Bowie sings, even if it's different than the studio version, it's Bowie. Never saw him live but this concert looked like a lot of fun.
I loved it when this played in the finale of regular show
Pops! 😢
He was fabulous! I think he was an incredibly gifted actor as well.
I’m 59, and no offence to the younger generations, but we definitely had the best music ever! Rocks stars, amazing shows, and, true to the times, sex, drugs and rock ‘n roll.
Inspired by the sight of Bowie's producer-engineer Tony Visconti embracing his lover by the Berlin Wall, the song tells the story of two lovers, one from East and one from West Berlin.
