@@dbrownthegreat Oh, absolutely. I dont give that praise in my original comment lightly either. Elton's contributions to those that love good music is staggering. Im a huge fan of his melodic works and countless other singles.

kj robbi Couldn’t agree more! George never needing acknowledgement or public credit for his philanthropy and good works is a sign of the true integrity of a person. Pity there isn’t more of that today. 💖
He once watched the U.K daytime show This Morning and saw a couple who had exhausted all of their savings trying I.V.F and had failed, George was so moved he contacted the show and paid for I.V.F for the couple in secret, they were successful and had a baby girl I think, they only found out after he died 😢
teppolundgren It was his choice. If ‘celebrities’ have been raised with a conscience and have some spare dollars they shouldn’t need to follow anyone’s example. They should already know. ☮️
This was George Michael's last #1 single in the US. After that he had an disagreement with Sony Music which followed by a big lawsuit which he lost. Sony destroyed his career in the US completely and didn't give him any air play in radio and TV.
Can y’all believe that George Michael is not, I say not, in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. There is just something very very wrong about that. How can that be?
I so agree with you even though I don't think if I remember correctly he said it was important to him it still would have been such an honor. The Man's music is timeless and his songwriting is genius. He was however honored with so many worldwide Awards. Most notably what he was proud of was receiving six Ivor novello Awards in his lifetime. That meant the most to him because he was truly a songwriter at heart. He still holds the record for the youngest recipient to win that prestigious songwriting award.
Thr fact that George Michael is not in the rock hall of fame says nothing about George Michael, but calls into question the credibility of thr Hall of fame. He is a legend.
mallaka8 agree with you completely. I don’t understand what makes someone qualified for entry. Whether or not he ever gets in is not as important as all the thousands of lives he touched with his music and as we are now finding out, with his generosity. Seems he was bless with both a beautiful voice and a sweet soul. Miss him so much.
I think the problem you run into with the rock and roll hall of fame is that they, for the longest time, held sacred the "rock and roll" in their name (for right or wrong). George, brilliant of a musician as he was, has always tended more toward pop. It's only more recent years that they've really begun to feature a wider range of artists and turn more toward a "music" hall of fame.
So sad. I am 40 and literally have spent my whole life defending George Michael. Now people only have nice things to say once he is dead. Such a shame.
Such a beautiful voice. George Michael was very underestimated, in my view. Recognition is overdue. Not to mention his extraordinary (and largely unknown) charity work. A beautiful soul.
Absolutely right. He did so much, quietly and with no fuss. Much of it only became known after his passing. An example: a woman was being interviewed on a UK daytime TV show about having run out of health service funded rounds of fertility treatment, and struggling to afford to pay for further rounds. George was watching, and phoned in to the show, on condition they didn't make his name known, to offer to fund the woman's treatment. She did subsequently have a child. She was told who the donor was, but honoured George's wish for anonymity until after he died.

I was at THIS SHOW when they shot this video. It was at the Rosemont Horizon just outside of Chicago. I believe it was 1990 (maybe 91?) I am a HUUUUUGE George Michael fan! In the middle of the concert George told the audience that he was going to be filming a video during the show. He told us to be patient because he was going to have to sing the next song twice so they could get it right. Then he started singing this song. I recognized and told my friend, “I know this song. Elton John sings it.” About 30 seconds later, he said, “Ladies and gentlemen, Mr Elton John.” And Elton walked right on stage. We were all STUNNED. We didn’t know he was there and that he was going to sing with George. We all started screaming. They sang it beautifully together and we gave it a standing ovation. Then, George said, “Okay, now we have to sing it again. I hope you don’t mind.” We all cheered! And then, they did it all over again and we were all just as excited as we were the first time. I had goosebumps! I kept thinking, “I’m witnessing HISTORY in the making! So good and true and pure it LITERALLY gives me chills.
To see 2 such talented people just puts me in awe, so surreal. I shall never ever forget the fact that the genious George Michael died so young. Always listened to him when he was so young (me too!). Incredible to see them both, FANTASTIC to watch!!!
OMG two of the best people and voices you will ever hear, i feel so grateful to have been here in the same era as them , we will never see or hear the likes of them again , legends.
This version gets me every time. George's voice was extraordinarily powerful and not to take anything away from the amazing Elton. Just exquisite. RIP George you beautiful man. PS JayveeTYV George should be on the main screen and you in the bottom left.....
That's Jonathan "Sugarfoot" Moffett on drums. He played for Michael Jackson for many years.
I'm late to this video but was coming to see if anyone had already made this comment.
I was just going to say I thought it looked like Sugarfoot. Glad someone else confirmed.
