I guess the marketing team failed to showcase the game + the low expectations, because Tekken 7 was pretty much double A, Soul Calibur 6 as well, etc.. so many people expected Tekken 8 to look cheap, gladly that was not the case, my only grip with the visuals are related to the hair physiques, they look terrible, also hard to notice the muscles "bulking" in real time (this is only a thing in the final story battle), besides that, it looks good, not as clean and advanced as MK1, but not cheap either
She has a Taido fighting style, which is Japanese caporeira karate and some mishima stuff. Axe kick, demon breath, psuedo hell sweep, electric, rising uppercut, hehachi parry, stomp, hehachi headbutt. To be more mishima she'd need 112, stuff like that. Hehachi was the aggressive mishima, she seems more of an evasive mishima with the Taido base. I also noticed like 4 stances lol.
‘Traditional’. Its gendai budo, as in a modern art instead of Koryu which is real ‘traditional’. Its founder practiced a bit of both Gojo Ryu & Kishimoto-Di, then abandoned Karate (he founded Gensei Ryu) entirely to make Taido. He lived in Brazil for a bit & obviously was exposed to things like Capoeira. The Kishimoto-Di he learnt had ground kicks & scissor leg takedown anyway.
Im excited to play as her. She's even got some Heihachisms in her movement, like that hands on hips soft laugh in the trailer. Sempai means that Jin is her upper classman. So she learned from the same person that taught Jin.
It's hilarious that, even when he's not here, Heihachi's manga/anime references continue on, even by coincidence. In this case, Reina being the child of Heihachi no one knew about and straight up the auntie of Jin who, I'm assuming is older than her. Which is a parallel to Josuke being the uncle to Jotaro who is older than Josuke. Funny enough, Old Man Joseph and Heihachi definitely shared the same voice actor too (R.I.P. Unshō Ishizuka)
I like Reina already! 💜 I’m a Lili main though I really want to try this character when the game drops. Though the fact that Heihachi actually has a DAUGHTER (a female Mishima family member) is wild. I’m honestly curious to see her interactions with Kazuya and Jin especially.
I don't get how people are reading a mocking tone from her response to Jin, she seems to be genuinely recognizing that Jin has more fighting experience than her. It's only after calling his name out that her voice deepens, which is more like she's getting excited to go toe to toe with someone who, again, she recognizes as an experienced fighter. To me it seems Reina has something to prove by fighting Jin. Her interaction with Kazuya on the other hand, she makes it real clear how she feels about him; becoming outwardly hostile just from him speaking to her. Something Kaz did must have had a strong impact on Reina for her to be shooting daggers from her eyes like that. (Reminder that no information about this character is solid except she has some connection to the Mishima family. Any guesses to anything more specific than that is still just conjecture.)
MAX was mixed up with the comments, she said senpai not sensei, I was confused too at first, sensei is teacher, senpai is just someone with more experience or someone who is upper grade in school, work etc. And yes it was a mocking tone, she should be Jin aunt, and she is mocking him as a "senpai", then kicks his ass later in the match.
No, she's totally taunting him. My impression of Reina is that she's confident she's the strongest. She's mocking Jin by calling him senpai because she's going to show him his place.
I'm sorry, I'm really not hearing any inflection of taunting. It's like Vegeta talking to Goku (once they're friends), but Goku doesn't know who Vegeta is. I also wish to say again, regardless of how reputable a source may be, any blood relations are still just conjecture and unconfirmed. I'd also really hope Reina has more going on in her backstory than just being a Heihachi bastard who wants daddy's throne, that wouldn't really be much of a twist after this trailer.
@Lee-km7qq It’s actually funny you mention Lili, because I just looked up Reina’s voice actor, Asami Seto, and she apparently voiced Lili in Street Fighter X Tekken.
And thus, offically completes the entire base roster of Tekken 8. Here's to many long years of multiple Yearly Character Passes that we'll be getting as DLC within a long lifespan of T8. 🔥🔥🔥
Dang! So she's the final character!? She's a badass! totally did not expect her play style to be so wicked! I like it! I'm so curious for the storyline now that the stage has been set.
She's got some heavy Mishima vibes. She clearly uses the more heavy-handed techniques of Mishima-style and mixes it with the agility & acrobatics of Taidō, a martial art having it's roots in Okinawan Karate. In other words: A rather fearsome opponent. It's also a rather popular martial art here in Scandinavia and I've dipped my toes into it myself.
Lars was some kind of experiment where heihachi just grabbed lars’s mom which was a random woman, not someone related to any character for the sole purpose to see if “his seed” was contaminanted by the devil gene, after that he just abandoned that family. Also they would act like half-siblings to kazuya
I only played a little bit of Tekken 7, and I was gonna check out Tekken 8 but without that much hype. This trailer just completely changed that, holyshit. I'm instantly sold, I guess this is the game that makes me actually learn Tekken, and Reina's probably gonna be my main, all that shit was hitting all the right spots, super up my alley. Can't wait for this shit to drop, god damn!
I think a designs is successful that even just her voice, design and attitude, before you make it to even her playstyle, makes you wanna play as her. Her playstyle being awesome only added to that.
As a Hispanic, Heiachi is 100% Hispanic. No one does it like us when it comes to having 45 children and children that are also aunt/uncle to people much older than themselves. 😂😂😂😂
Well it's clearly related to heihachi either as a daughter or granddaughter of his. The stance, lightning ⚡ kick 🦶 reminds me of heihachi definitely part of the Mishima bloodline
So when it comes to the student teacher relationship, Max was ironically half right. In the martial arts world, or at least in the karate system, we have a sensei and a senpai. The sensei as we all know is the head instructor as the senpai is the assistant instructor. But if you ask pop culture what a senpai is..... Yeah lol.
Imagine she's the daughter of Unknown and Heihachi, that would explain some form of kazama fighting style as well as the purple aura when she does ewgf and some other moves and then mishima from hei's side since orginanally hei's electric was known to be Gold/Yellow Lighting around the tekken tag era where unknown was the end boss, this is just a wild guess though but kinda makes sense to me but at the same time kinda CRAZY cuz essentially Hei did Kaz's wife WHICH IS WILD, then again this is just my take on it.
Badass tomboy characters are my jam. Lidia was my favorite character in T7 and I was really hoping for a similar character since it was pretty clear she herself wasn't getting in. Reina gives off a lot of similar vibes just with obviously way more arrogance and attitude. Only issue now is I have to learn how to do EWGF's, I've never player a Mishima before lol.
The combination of Taido and Mishima Ryu fighting style suits her really good kinda reminds me of introduction of Shotokan karate with Lidia Sobieska 👍.
I laughed at Max putting his finger on where Reina fits within the Mishima family mess. The grandson (Jin) being older than the aunt (Reina). It happens...
I mean technically, Reina is Kazuya and Lars' regular sister. Heihachi is all of their biological father. And that super animation reminds me of Jimpachi, not necessarily Heihachi.
that's probably a wooden buddhist statue of "asura" in the background. so it's the other way around; akuma's design is obviously (at least partially) based on asura.
I think she has something to do with Ogre. The end of her rage is the same image from Tekken 3 intro from the home version. Right after Jin gets the mark burned into his arm.
Reina is Heihachi's pupil, reason she refers to Jin as Senpai is because Jin was trained first by Heihachi so they are fellow students with Jin being the senior pupil hence the "Senpai" comment.
This is what has me concerned. EWGF is a 14 frame attack, and if this is faster then we're delving into Flash territory with how quick it can come out......And pair that with how much more ground she covers when doing it than the other Mishima's and.....yeah. I feel like this was just a flashy thing done for the trailer, but we'll see....
She has a weird 8way movement interaction at the beginning of her trailer that she only uses that one time so I'm interested to see what that is in full
Wild, left field thought…..now that Akuma is NOW canon and we clearly see an Akuma statue in the background as kind of a God…..Could Raina be a mix of Hadou and Kazumi style of martial arts?

The fact that they were able to make me forget about Victor with Reina and this new trailer is super impressive. January can't come soon enough.
She has a Taido fighting style, which is Japanese caporeira karate and some mishima
stuff.
I also noticed like 4 stances lol.
very interesting
She also has hehachis rush stance thing but i think it might be used different.
She has so many high and low crush moves but they seen unsafe a linear
Interesting...
That explains why it looked like some of the moves looked like they were from Eddy/Christie (her grab, the backflip kick, and the double heel kick).
Yes….they said that lol
She seems to specialize in Taido, it's an incredibly acrobatic traditional japanese martial art.
Great to have an Isekai Mishima back.
@@Foggers8_8 sorry, I was thinking it was more rooted in the origin of karate from Okinawa, it's not by all means traditional on it's own.
bro her fighting style reminded me of Itadori
like c'mon
the Manji Kick and acrobatics n' shit
she's literally purple genderbent Itadori
Sure….
I'm glad they're gonna release the other trailers for the characters we haven't seen yet 🎉❤
Im excited to play as her. She's even got some Heihachisms in her movement, like that hands on hips soft laugh in the trailer.
Sempai means that Jin is her upper classman. So she learned from the same person that taught Jin.
Or the same people. In this case, Jun and Heihachi.
Heihachi: OH MAI GAAAAWD lol
@Lee-km7qqNo, that was Shizuka Joestar. The invisible baby.
Heihachi IS tekken.
Regardless if he's alive or dead.
I like Reina already! 💜
I’m a Lili main though I really want to try this character when the game drops. Though the fact that Heihachi actually has a DAUGHTER (a female Mishima family member) is wild. I’m honestly curious to see her interactions with Kazuya and Jin especially.
Kazuya is there to ask the question everyone has
I don't get how people are reading a mocking tone from her response to Jin, she seems to be genuinely recognizing that Jin has more fighting experience than her.
So the first part she sounds sweet, then switches to a serious tone.
@Lee-km7qq
It’s actually funny you mention Lili, because I just looked up Reina’s voice actor, Asami Seto, and she apparently voiced Lili in Street Fighter X Tekken.
And thus, offically completes the entire base roster of Tekken 8. Here's to many long years of multiple Yearly Character Passes that we'll be getting as DLC within a long lifespan of T8. 🔥🔥🔥
🙏🙏🙏
like Kazuma Kiryu :T
@@Iwatoda_Dormnah majima all the way
@mydrillasanjay5397 Don't forget Ichiban Kasuga!
Shao Khan or Terumi plz Namco.
Reina is DEFINITELY Heihachi's daughter!
It's also a rather popular martial art here in Scandinavia and I've dipped my toes into it myself.
evasive mishima with good punishment? Oh no.
shotokan was the first export out of japan
Could be related to heihachi from a different family line. Lightning comes from mishima not from devil
Harada said that heihachi slept with many women
@@vikingfromnorth45 i hear you, im just saying you never know
Kazuya: Who the hell are you?
Reina: I'ma show you how to be YOU 😄
I think a designs is successful that even just her voice, design and attitude, before you make it to even her playstyle, makes you wanna play as her. Her playstyle being awesome only added to that.
With the move set they showed and the mobility she has, she feels like Tekken's Cammy.
There's some Juri in there but toned down in crazy and I like it
I said the same thing. I saw a few of Cammy’s Fierce and regular strikes. Wicked!
Let’s just hope she’s not as cheap as cammy is
@Lee-km7qq I don’t see much heihachi with her at all. I see more asuka and Julia similarities with her own spin of moves in there
Akuma's design is supposed to look very much like an Oni or some popular depictions of Raijin.
The way she crosses her arms and the way her voice is kinda deep and enunciated like how Heihachi did.
They heard the criticism of the women not having any emotion and went ham with Reina😭I love her
I'd like to see an interaction with her and Asuka for some reason :)
Female hybrid character of Eddie from Tekken3 combined with the ninjitsu style of Kage from Virtual Fighter .
If she's actually a Mishima, it's a shame she doesn't have their wacky electric hair.
I know. It’s their signature style.
We can only hope she will possibly have a super-mode or something that will have it spike up in all kibds of ways... we can only hope.
Yeah lol.
@@MechaGirlOTD and in that case she was referring to rank. He's a senior in high school so she's likely either a junior or below.
Baffling why so many "weebs" are not aware that senpai directly translates to senior
Yeaaah but you can hear in her tone of voice when she says that and the other sentence she is clearly mocking him.
@@Spartacus679 that has absolutely nothing to do with the conversation at hand lmaoooo
Ofc she'd had a lot more of that she's actual villain
i love reina but also wish lidia was in tekken 8
11:20 yes, with all of the Akuma wins over the years throughout different tournaments, him getting a shrine is very well deserved.
She hachi and asuska mixed. She looks dope.
The combination of Taido and Mishima Ryu fighting style suits her really good kinda reminds me of introduction of Shotokan karate with Lidia Sobieska 👍.
I like how in her special, the black lightning draws mean eyes, and a bit later she looks at the camera doing the same look
Damn, I love choreographed fights like this. I can't wait to play, the wait is killing me!
The Mishima/Kazama family tree grows again lol. Reina looks pretty dang wild, I can't wait to see more of what she does
It’s all about the hair baby! Her RA ending shows a silhouette of Heihachi.
that's probably a wooden buddhist statue of "asura" in the background. so it's the other way around; akuma's design is obviously (at least partially) based on asura.
When she did the "Dorya" i was like ohhhhh shiit.
It's almost like Akuma's character design took inspiration from Eastern deities and such... weird.
She's definitely a dangerous looking character encounters the Combos and especially the throw into breaking the wall was dope
My Uncle works for Harada's Twitter and he told me Harada said Lucky Chloe is Reina's mom.
Darth Vader: "Sister. You have a twin sister. Obi-Wan was wise to hide her from me."
This girl really just punched you in the chin, kicked you in the nuts, clawed your damn eyes out and stomped you to the ground in her rage art
I think she has something to do with Ogre. The end of her rage is the same image from Tekken 3 intro from the home version. Right after Jin gets the mark burned into his arm.
Senpai is for fellow students that are older. Sensei is for teacher/master.
She fights like a Mishima and Kazama. WHERE'S MY POLISH AMBASSADOR???
Reina is Heihachi's pupil, reason she refers to Jin as Senpai is because Jin was trained first by Heihachi so they are fellow students with Jin being the senior pupil hence the "Senpai" comment.
Bae-Hachi!
In the background of her Rage Art is an Eclipse. A symbol of duality, perfect alignment of dark and light.
We now have a Mishima Tomboy and Kazama Tomboy
The Black Silhouette at the end of her super looked like Heihachi's head
I don’t know if they just had Reina input her EWGF earlier than Kazuya or not, but imagine an even faster version. Lord.
@@Jarsix42I’m hoping they don’t do that new character can beat out all the already existing characters
If you slow it down, you can see Reina moves 1 frame before Kaz, so it's probably the same
That ground drag into wall break throw (?) is sick.
instant main material
She has a weird 8way movement interaction at the beginning of her trailer that she only uses that one time so I'm interested to see what that is in full
Heihachi’s QCP input
That Heihachi stage remix!
That theme alone gives away who she is!
Finally, a likeable Mishima
Heihachi be like:"All my sons have turned out either evil, strange or Swedish. Maybe I should finally get a daughter."
We're not done yet!! Weekly trailers of new characters to be released

Kazuya: Who the hell are you?
Reina: the new girl boss
A girl boss that actually looks cool, the japanese are masters of the "edgelord" cliche
It's just a bit to purple but now that I realize she plays like heihachi it's awesome. I just hope shes not "too easy" to use.
That 2:30 ULTRA COMBOOOO is so well timed
Looool you're right!!!
Wild, left field thought…..now that Akuma is NOW canon and we clearly see an Akuma statue in the background as kind of a God…..Could Raina be a mix of Hadou and Kazumi style of martial arts?
