Anyone else have times where they just feel nervous ? Not anxious but nervous ?
Anyone else ever feel prickly skin ?
I’ve had every test run so I know it’s not underlying problem
    But skin feels prickly
And does anyone else get cold sometimes
    Even when in the sunshine
    Menopause is so weird

5 years post menopause and a 24/7 carer to my mum with Alzheimer's. I'm exhausted and so depressed. I feel I won't have any life at all.
On a different note I absolutely adore your scarf. I think you've got more scarves than I've had hot flushes☺

Here's my top 10 list of things I want my SISTERS to know....
    1. You may feel very depressed.
    2. You want want to die and feel you can't go on any longer endure another day.
    3. Your boobs may be even more sore and swollen than they were in your pregnancy (if you had one)
    4. Your marriage may end in divorce
    5. You may want to disconnect from your children.
    6. You may gain 40 lbs like I did...ugh.....
    7. You may cry for days at a time.
    8. You may feel as though you are going insane and losing your cotton pickin mind.
    9. Your anxiety and panic attacks are so uncomfortable, especially in the morning when you wake up to realize you must face another day.
    10. You may feel like something is just so wrong with your digestion and bowels. Everything just feels OFF in the mid section.
Bonus....11. You may sleep for 2 years straight and feel more tired than ever.
Oh I forgot to mention 12.....no sex drive at all. Good thing I am single, or someone would be very disappointed, lol.
I LOVE you all and I relate to the sheer madness you are going through. I will never understand WHY we have to go through this. Just when we thing WE MADE it and it's our GOLDEN years with no young children, we get hit with perimenopause. I am not post. Still peri......but many of my peri sisters are hear looking for comfort. To be honest, before perimenopause I used to think i would breeze through my change of life. I thought women were exaggerating (SO SORRY). I never ever ever thought it could be what it's been. I'm about to turn 50 and it's been far too many years of suffering now. 3 days ago, I cried out to God and asked him to take me home. I wanted to die. Today, 3 days later.....I got my period. Yes, sometimes my PMS can actually kill me if I listen to it. I have a 21 year old daughter, so I just white knuckle it and hold on tight and wait for it to end.
Yesterday was mother's day and I had to HIDE it, while my beautiful daughter came to visit with flowers and a love package. Unfortunately one day my wonderful daughter will know what I went through. I'm sorry daughter. If I'm still alive, I will comfort her when her time comes. What else can we do sisters?

Thank you for honesty. My daughter is 13 and hod willing I will one day too comfort her my mother passed just as I started my journey.

May you find comfort here, as I have just knowing we aren't alone. It's truly a life lesson that control is an illusion. 3 days ago, I was crying uncontrollably telling God to take me home. Today, I got my period and I feel happy and was singing and cleaning because I felt so much relief from my many symptoms.

I just got prescribed Prozac. I'm 53. No period for 14 months now. It's the start of Prozac for me, no side effects yet. Sure hope it helps! My doc wanted to prescribe benzos for me, like Xanax. Don't want to start taking that stuff. I hear the withdrawals are horrid! Menopause is horrible. Anxiety, nausea, mood swings, insomnia. I feel for all you ladies going thru this.

Such important health information interspersed with positivity! Your videos are fantastic because they break menopause into “phases” (eg peri, post). So many doctors just use the broad term “menopause” for women who could be at different points in this life transition….experiencing different symptoms and struggles.

    1. Is low mood/ depression more prevalent in post menopause
    2. Does endometriosis and adenomyosis get worse
    3. Headaches and mirgraines
Several health complaints seem to come up.

      Hi EB
You're welcome and thank you for following us all this time!
      To answer you questions:
      1. this really depends on the individual, unfortunately, we do know that post-menopause the nervous system can become less robust and more easily affected by stress and low mood (I'm a good example as I find I'm more prone to anxiety appearing out of nowhere if I am run down or tired!)
      2. In most instances these should improve as oestrogen drops but, obviously, this may take several years
      3. Headaches and migraine are common and often due to low magnesium and/or dehydration. Acupuncture can be effective for these so worth checking out.
      Hope this helps!

I take nothing and I'm so confused as well. Too confused to take anything because you should be very educated on what goes in your body. I'm almost 50 and going through this naturally and it's almost killed me more than a few times....I've been suicidal from the sharp dip in hormones I guess. Hi Katie
You could try the herb Devil's Claw as this is known as a natural anti-inflammatory and add in a fish oil supplement. Dehydration can often be a factor with this especially as you can get really dehydrated during the night; this can cause joint pain. so have a small shot glass of warm water just before bed

This is not unusual, when women live in a group-setting, their menstrual cycles will synchronise so that they all become fertile at the same time. Humans are mammals after all & this is normal for the species. The older (menopausal) women may experience the symptoms you describe, even though they’re no longer physically fertile.

Question: 710 days now with out period. I can’t wait to start my life freedom from Aldis forward forward to it
what can I do middle of the night waking up with a heart palpitations ? -pounding in my ear & head-lasts a 1-2 mints.
I’m hypoglycemia. Born with it - eat health, exercised, didn’t smoke drink only occasionally.
However, i’ve had two C-sections and two surgeries. Can that be the reason I’m going through much more difficult transition.
At this point, it feels an eternal torture never ending Night/Day sweats, not sleeping at nights (up at 3am) Feeling fatigue -
It’s like swimming in the middle of the ocean alone lost -hoping to see land.

      Hi Marina
Great to hear that you look forward to the videos, thank you!
It's difficult to say whether the operation have had any effect on your menopause, I've not seen any research on this, sorry.
Night sweats are so disruptive for sleep so getting these sorted can usually make a big difference. If you are sleeping well, you're less likely to feel fatigued and mood will be better too. Have you tried the herb sage? This is known to help with both flushes and sweats and usually works quickly. You could also add in some Valerian or a magnesium supplement to help with the sleep itself.
Hopefully, your symptoms will start to ease soon and you can, indeed, start this new phase of your life!

      Hi Savita
Unfortunately, for some women, symptoms can continue for a number of years after periods have stopped. If you feel that symptoms are getting worse then it is best to see your doctor. Other health issues such as low iron, poor thyroid function, low vitamin D or B12 can all cause similar symptoms. Your doctor can test for these just to rule them out.

Have you spoken to your doctor about still getting symptoms whilst you are on HRT? Over time, HRT can become less effective due to hormonal shifts occurring and your doctor may be able to adjust your dose or offer you a better or more effective one.
In the meantime you may find a magnesium supplement, approx 200mg twice a day, helpful for the muscle ache. I ahve also posted a vlog on anxiety and what you can do to help yourself so please do take a look.

I’ve been on the gaps diet for one year, I’ve lost 20 pounds and weigh what I did in my 20s (i’m 54). All the belly fat has gone. I didn’t start it to lose weight either, but to heal my gut. The improvements in my health has been all across the board and the weight loss was an unexpected bonus.

You would need to ask your doctor as to how long you can take HRT as this may depend on the brand, your age and any health issues you have.

      Hi Susan
Unfortunatley, this can happed with some women and it may take several years of this scenario before periods stop for good. However, if you are worried then please do speak with your doctor and, hopefully, they can reassure you.

      Hi Puffy Muffin
Yes, although not very common, some women do bleed for various reasons but good to hear that you got it checked out as this is really important.
Anxiety can ease for some women, mine did, but I had to do a lot of hard work (rest, supplements, exercise etc), luckily it only appears now if I am either really tired or run down!
Maybe check out Pilates as this can often be helpful for a weak bladder. An experienced practitioner can teach you specific exercises to to daily to keep this in check.
