Follow the journey of the mighty Zambezi - Africa's wildest river.
It floods across endless plains, fuelling the migration of 30,000 wildebeest, turning villages into islands accessible only by boat. It plunges over cliffs, creating the largest curtain of water on Earth - Victoria falls. It swells up to form great rapids, a challenge for elephants to cross, and it carves out deep, treacherous gorges where the mysterious Zambezi Wave offers the ultimate surfing experience.
Zambezi spreads out to fill one of the greatest man-made lakes on Earth, home to giant crocodiles and the iconic African fish eagle, and it flows through 'lost worlds', some of the best places to see African wildlife, where unusual 'wild guests' check in at a safari lodge.
Finally, as it nears the Indian Ocean, the vast Zambezi delta gives local scientists a sign of hope for the future - a glimpse of the legendary herds of elephant and buffalo that once roamed here before the devastation of civil war.

That's the way it should be everywhere! Animals and humans living together, respecting each other.
Ideally, animals should regard us with benign indifference. Not hostile, but not too friendly. Overly friendly animals may come to associate humans with food, and thus lose their wildness.
Though trust is also very good when contact becomes impossible for either party to avoid...
Not too close... Corona nipha all originated from wild..
Giant predators: I’m gonna pretend I didn’t hear that.
@@JanusHoWles éléphants étaient là avent nous !!!!!
As long as the cobra stays on it's side of the bed. No cobra-cuddles, please! 🐍
I can just hear reception as a mother and calf walk through the hotel - "Such a delight to see you again madame! And how is the young gentleman?"
🤣🤣🤣🤣
This is the respect elephants deserve.
This was their home first while we humans are just guests. 🐘
This is where the contention begins...with statements like these. Where is your natural habitat and why aren't you there?
So is nobody going to acknowledge how surprisingly quiet they are when they walk? It’s actually in their anatomy; elephants have very soft, and padded feet, allowing them to walk without being loud at all!
They just walk by . Not damage anything . Eat some fruits and leave . Such great sight
Such views truly light my heart. I wish so much to go there.
This is a bucket list of mine things to do. I would love to spend a week at that lodge, watching the elephants come and have mangoes and then leave.
I remember when Wonky Tusk brought her new baby and herd through this hotel. It was a long time ago and I hope they are well still but who knows? Thanks for sharing their story again.
I would love the updates 🙏🙏🙏🙏❤️🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘
Sometimes when the ellies have had their fill of mangoes and if they have calves, they will lay down for a nap. What an absolute bonus for guests!
It is a sight to be seen - an elephant napping under a tree in the courtyard!
Ugh I love elephants so much 😭😭😭
Wow, I'd love to visit here to experience this. Animals in their own natural habitat. The way it SHOULD BE.
Here's the details: The mango eating elephants of Mfuwe Lodge
Every year, between late October and mid December the elephants arrive at Mfuwe Lodge in the South Luangwa National Park, Zambia. The whole family of elephants comes to eat the wild mango (Cordyla africana) fruits which fall from a tree just beyond the open plan lobby.
Thanks for letting folks know about Mfuwe Lodge!
Elephants can eat 4-5 bales of hay each day, which is 4.5-8kg or 10-18lbs. Maybe they could install some hay feeders.
Not mangoes!!
@@meraaicat But the elephants could also eat mangoes as well as hay.
@@diegocarrillo472 they could yes, but this is not a mango tree...
This place is gonna get fully booked for the next century 🙌
Elephant highway 😊 such beautiful creatures of this world
I have a soft spot for elephants so I would love to come experience this in person some time in my lifetime.
So beautiful.
Save the elephants❤️
Hup Two Three Four! Keep it Up! Two Three Four!

They're so beautiful 😍

Give a new definition to the term "Is there a porter to help me with my trunk."
These are the most respected elephants in the world
The true legends of our 🌎 And their names are elephant.
Go to any all inclusive hotel in benidorm to see wild elephants walking through the reception around breakfast and dinner time.
Cn bc x
🤣
😂😂😂
Just a joy to watch. Lucky lucky guests (hope it is always like that and they NEVER get exploited or harmed) The elephants not the guests 😮
0:16 That is not a mango tree. It is a marula tree, a relative of the mango. At 2:02 and 2:13 you can see it is a marula that the elephant is picking up.
Magical was truly what I've just experienced with this video
I love elephants
Absolutely stunning 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Simply Beautiful!

This is how it should be between animals and humans. 😢 how far humanity has fallen. Glad to know there still small hope
Imagine going to the lobby to get some towels and some elephants just casually walk through
Update on these Majestic Sentient beings 2024 ????! Please 🙏🙏🙏

@@BushcampCo have you stayed here? How much is it? I would guess like, some impossible price lol
@@TheQuota2001 My wife and I visited in late October/early November 2016 at a cost of USD$1,500.00 per night. Well worth the cost as you get two daytime safaris and one night time safari, private air-conditioned rondel, all meals and beverages, transport from and return to the local airport for your flight from and to Lusaka, Zambia.
Amazing
Love it
I really want to go to this hotel 😍
I'd like to know who sweeps up the mess as well haha.
So cool though!
I hope the cleaning staff get extra on elephant days
now and then humans get it right thats on my bucket list
WOW
I feel sorry for the porters that have to carry their trunks.
I know what this lodge would need - hay baskets.
Name of hotel?
The Places of Gautama are known to Elephants, it is one of the most sacred animals that exists. The laws of Nature, Man and the Beasts. KJV 1611 Preserved. ∆ 66 Books that accounts to Holiness, In all righteousness, be it left and right.
A wonderful sight, but I suspect it can be stressful for the staff at the same time, especially if there's a newborn in the herd. When there's a calf of that age in their midst, every other member of the herd is involved in its protection. If any guest is foolish enough to approach the baby, they could get trampled or gored by a protective mother, aunt or grandma, and the generations of trust could be shattered.
What’s the name of this amazing hotel
Where is this hotel located?
Where is this place?
Zambia in Southern Africa
@@lf1496 wow that has to be a place to visit.
@@daveo8745 Believe it!!
Mfuwe Lodge / Bushcamp Company
Zambia
The BBC (or its programme producers) are being somewhat economical with the truth. This lodge is 273 miles from the Zambezi on a tributary called the Luangwa.
What's the name of the hotel cause now me and my wife want to visit
I want to go to this hotel. Where is it?

We need to address the elephant in the room.
0:44 those that mark on her face means she’s in musk?
No, only bull elephants go into musth. Temporal gland secretions in females are usually a sign of heightened emotions, such as excitement, meeting other elephants, reactions to calves being nearby, and can sometimes also as a sign of sadness eg in mourning or in distress
What is the name of this hotel?
Remember to keep your distance and DO NOT feed the wild animals when you visit this lodge
That’s not a mango tree!
How do we make reservations?
Book a reservation by contacting Bushcamp Company online.
So what about fleas ??
Who cleans up the turd?
Lmao
@@Jsk87AK Housekeeping in the Lodge. On the grounds it is up to you to watch where you step

Since when do baboons come here?
Since time began! They will even enter your Rondel if you do not lockup ecah time you leave
Africa 🐘 has a rough temperament, so it is dangerous to be full with food 😵
I bet the monkeys attack the tourists a lot.
WRONG! Most of the monkeys are Vervet monkeys, small playful creatures that co-exist with humans that respect their space.
SO why was the lodge built in the way?!
Now if only he brought some money…
Lol
Wish the hotel had done better research of the area. This is one of their migratory routes. But it does look fun.
Any normal person can NOT afford a lodge like this. It's only for VERY wealthy people. Nice to watch, but.........
Define NORMAL and DEFINE wealthy. The price varies depending on the season but figure USD$1,500.00/night double occupancy. I am a Canadian living in western Canada and a roundtrip airfare for me and my wife is $6,000.00 economy or $20,000.00 first class to Zambia. I am not wealthy, just frugal and prioritize my costs so that my wife and I can visit anyone of a dozen different African countries each year. You can do it too, just need to make it a priority. You will not be disappointed, provided you book the optimal time to be there and book well in advance, i.e. 12-18 months!
E
Who will clean the floor?
Love this! The 🐘 is my spirit animal.
Great production, obviously the elephants were CGI in the lobby but doesn't take away from the magic 🪄💚🐘
There are times I wish I wasn't in the film industry so I couldn't pick up on things like this LOL
CGI? :D you obviously did not do much CGI work in your lifetime
Won't the stairs and pavement be ruined?
Not great. Wild animals getting used to humans is the cause for much wildlife damage and resulting human wildlife conflict. Deffo not a stay for me
Rest assured that we are very careful to keep the humans well back from the elephants! We are located inside a national park and are very cognizant of our responsibility to look after both the wildlife and our guests.
Greed, human greed is the cause not the animals. If we really wanted to and valued living in harmony with animals it wouldn’t be an issue.
@@BushcampCo That was exactly what my wife and I observed during our stay at the Lodge! If the human respects the animal's space, the animal will return the favour.
@@guidogriffin7731 Exactly!
Have you ever actually been in the wild? I have numerous times and for my money I would much rather be in the wild respecting the wildlife's space than spend time in the urban jungle where people refuse to respect other people's space and hence get into conflict.
Amazing
