I’ve had the privilege of elephant encounters in Africa. They are the most humbling experiences ever! When an elephant can easily topple the vehicle over but did not these creatures became easily my favorite with much love and respect. Magical moments always in my heart. ❤🐘❤️

I've seen such gesture twice before this video. In one instance, the cars stopped while a group of elephants were crossing the road. The last elephant waved its trunk towards the cars before moving on and joining its group. In another instance a small elephant fell inside a digged hole...and the people got it out with some heavy machinery. Before leaving with its child, it waved towards the people and left...so ya, probably it's their gesture of thanking.

Yes; the temptation to pat the calf on the head must have been strong, but mama definitely would not have liked that. When tourists go to observe wild mountain gorillas the same rule applies; even if curious young gorillas come right up to them and touch them, they must never touch them back.
i like the part where the mother turns around like she is about to leave to trigger the calf's instinct to follower her.... but the little dude is too wrapped up with his new found toy car.

It’s time to go.” “But-but-but…Eh Nnn…” “Let’s go. Time to go.”

I completely agree with you! It's such a shame that he couldn't say hello to those in the safari jeep and vice a versa. Of course, I understand why but it is still a shame.
That meant "no screaming, no waving, no tapping on the car" etc. Slow movements are allowed, and they are used to cameras. Also, many people won't be able to see this by themselves. It's nice that people spread this view to everybody. I wish I could go there and do a safari one day, but as a minimum wage worker, I highly doubt I'll ever be able to afford it. So thanks to the people who allows me to live this through a screen. (with no VR or AI... just a lens and a microphone. This said, that music spoils the moment...)

The POWER in that mother's trunk is UNBELIEVABLY SCARILY STRONG!!! I personally experienced it from a BULL MALE ele at Knysna Elephant Park... I had some peanuts in my pocket and he put his trunk around my middle and pulled me closer (the Xhosa Safari Guard immediately reacted and pulled it back... I will never forget the experience... The absolute strength...and it was done in a quiet mild manner... Imagine an angry situation... Would be terrifying... Beautiful sentient beings...
How intelligent is this mama. Lets baby explore a bit , finally says ok mom's leaving now, guides her little scamp away gently. Gives a quick wave to the driver , as if to say, " Thank you, all clear-- baby's over here now." If that's a tour guide, he has the dream job of this planet . Elephants give me a reason to live.
Watching the way these elephants behave, it's very clear that they know not all humans are kind, but it's also quite obvious that they are aware some humans are helpful or just want to see things and have nothing to do with what this baby is doing, I'm willing to bet a lot of money those elephants were ready to roll that jeep if they felt it was necessary, but the phone moving around recording things is probably something they've seen a thousand times so they felt no threat from it
I like how the other elephants felt strange and surrounded the baby elephant to protect them. After the baby elephant left, the other big elephants walked back warily to protect the baby elephant. Elephants are one of the species I love because of their honesty and family affection

I like how the other elephants felt strange and surrounded the baby elephant to protect them. After the baby elephant left, the other big elephants walked back warily to protect the baby elephant. Elephants are one of the species I love because of their honesty and family affection
