It would be cool if they switched out models every now and then say every 6 months or year. Have a half dozen or so models at all times you can pick from to customize but every now and then switch a few models out. I could see always having the Grip and mini Grip since they are probably most popular but alternate in some other models. I can't believe the Bugout isn't offered in the custom shop at least not yet. Be cool if Spyderco did the same thing too even if it was like Benchmade with only a handful of knives they offered. Could offer say the Delica, PM2, Para 3, Shaman, Stretch, Manix 2, Chaparral whatever those are probably some of the most popular though but then I guess maybe that would eat into the non stop exclusives and sprints lol.
Just brought mine home, off the rack stocker. I was barely able to resist a "murdered out" version with laser etching from the website. LOVE LOVE LOVE this knife.
Mine is s90v steel, a wolf engraved on either side. Carbon Fiber scales; all satin lock, pivot collar, screws, liners, deep carry clip; dark grey bolsters; black back spacer. It’s the best knife I’ve ever held, let alone owned.
My fiance got me one for my birthday. I went with the 20CV also. The centering, grind and action are perfect. It's awesome. I think the Bugout will be the next custom addition.

Somebody has one for sale now on one of the Benchmade pages on Facebook I am considering buying if he still has it. He wants the full $300 it cost but its new and you won't have to wait for it to be built plus he is throwing in a new Arvensis and those go for $199 on BHQ and I am interested in those just the one he has is partially serrated and I would much prefer plain edge. The Mini Crooked River he has though is like I built myself just never ordered. Black coated M4, black bolster, carbon fiber, blue pivot color, black hardware and Axis bar, black deep carry clip, black back spacer thing is awesome lol. I guess I could probably sell the Arvensis if I didn't like it and get $125-150 for it maybe even put the money back towards another one with a plain edge or just forget it and end up with a custom shop Mini Crooked River for half price after selling the fixed blade.
That’s one handsome knife. I just purchased the mini crooked river on your knife sale and received it today and this is definitely one of my favorite benchmade knives thus far. I really like the blue pivot collar and backspacer. I’m a sucker for that clip point as well.
Wow the prices you said 3 years ago blew me away I was thinking of getting one of these. The one I've got teed up in the custom shop is $390 with S90V, 20CV isn't an option. Logo on one side and text on the other. Is this a function of inflation? Is it still worth it at that price? Stock they are dang near $100 more than the $188 you said they were back then. I'm not a knife addict. I'm looking for one daily carry to replace a chipped up well used knife that's been in my pocket a long time. Do you recommend this knife still despite an incredible price hike?
You are going to love it...at first. Then you are gonna have buyers remorse. If you keep it awhile...you are going to Love it again! It will frustrate you at first because the tolerances are so tight that it is not gonna ('flick') open every time and seems kind of 'wonky'. But the problem will be YOU and not the knife. It opens Exactly the same-every time. I have never had a folding knife so bulletproof-so simple. However I am afraid to open it up and give it a 'Spa' treatment (which is what it needs). Have had this one for a year now and it is exactly the same knife. Cheers!

Amazing color scheme. Probably the best one I've seen. Not a fan of dlc blades, or big black/white contrasts. Good point on how custom knives have a bit more thought put in when it comes to the f&f. I'm from the Netherlands so international shipping will be a pain financially, but a piece like this could become an heirloom and well worth its price. Do you suppose it will replace your favorite 940? Also, thanks for all your apex pro videos. Years back I got hit by a car and suffered an injury to my wrist, effectively making freehand sharpening a thing of the past and my hobby alongside it. Discovering the apex pro was a game changer to me and after watching all your videos on it along with a hundred practice blades my sharpening skills are better then ever now!

I think BM is a solid company that most people hate on for price... but they do produce 100% in the US... unlike anyone other than GEC I believe from a general production stand point. If I could only have one knife it would be a Benchmade. But dang... you designed a gorgeous Benchmade!

I think the reason they haven't opened up the 940 is because of demand and also cutting into Gold Class and dealer exclusives. Really nice mini CR you have there!
Hey, merry Christmas! My custom Mini is identical except for brass pivot ring. I really love the blue on yours. We have great taste. Is it worth $280? If you love Benchmade and the Crooked River, sure it is. The design is superb, and you can't get them anywhere else.
knife addict also I seem to have overdosed the past two years straight I also have a version of the crooked river unfortunately the one I have is the special sprint run from Benchmade with the I guess you can call it OD green micarta scale I think its DLC but I have to check i cant remember off the top if my head but hey its black haha mine isn't custom built by me so its s30v and dlc coated as well. point being its a rare beautiful knife that LOVE a lot more then i thougnbt i would and yep can't bring myself to carry it so now i need a custom one for myself to put in my rotation now that i have one just to taunt me and can't use. they are absolutely great knives well done Benchmade and the smaller version iswhat did it for me as well. just have to crack open the wallet to be above to have one to use that's not limited sprint run everything first production.... i did it to myself haha

I think those are like $180 so not a bad deal getting the pair of them for $300 shipped. Edit, I just looked and BHQ sells the Arvensis for $199 so basically getting $500 of knives for $300. I might have to go back to see if he sold it yet tonight and have him ship them my way lol. I could always probably sell the Arvensis for say $150 since I would rather plain edge anyway and have the custom Mini Crooked River half price or sell the fixed blade and take the money to put towards another with a plain edge if I liked the knife enough to buy another one.
just ordered myself this same thing last night. Your version is beautiful! I almost regret the route I went, but it’s hard to mess it up haha. I did do a lot of the same stuff as you it appears though. Mine does have a lot of the same elements as yours. I went with s90v, a black clip, and carbon fiber handle. The screws, axis, pops of blue, and liner are the same as mine though. It’s spendy but I’m excited! How’s yours treating you? Do you still own/carry it?

Just saw your custom looking through tags on instagram. Hadn't looked at their custom shop in a while. The griptilians have a g10 and stand off option now! You weren't kidding! I immediately bought a knife after heading there hahahaha

I find Benchmade often makes better knives out of the box than Spyderco. I can't speak to ZT because I have not owned one but my Knockout etc is nice. I don't know why you said they are behind Spyderco and ZT. Compare a PM2 with a 940, My 940-2 was literally perfect out of the box, every edge rounded and smoothed. PM2 has the most crappy slabs of G-10 with practically a 90 degree corner. I ordered a factory griptilian the newer G-10 version, very impressed with the quality all the edges knocked off everywhere, good transitions, crazy hard steel, solid feel. Its seems like everytime I get a LWT Spyderco I have to sit there and knock the edges off the molded handles etc
If you think benchmade makes a better quality knife than spyderco, then you must be new to the knife world. They are waaaay behind spyderco in their quality control. Love both companies, but spyderco has NEVER sent me a subpar product. Benchmade on the other hand has burnt me a few times.

Anybody who tells you spyderco makes 100% without a doubt better knives than benchmade doesn’t buy enough knives I’ve had spyderco para 2s that you look at for 5 seconds and go “how did they mess this up this bad” every knife company has there problematic models that includes benchmade zt spyderco and any other production knife company you wanna put in that list
@@thecentralavenuegunslinger7861 I agree 100%. I have bought many knives in the $100-$300 range. Most have turned out pretty good. Some haven't. But 90% of my issues have had a benchmade butterfly on the blade. Period.
You can def pick a lot more then that. You can also get M4 steel too in any of the models they let you build in the custom shop I believe but I know you can on the Mini Crooked River they offer carbon fiber, jade G10 and whatever other colors too. I just looked you can get S90v, s30v, M4, 20cv, or Damascus imagine its Damasteel in the Mini Crooked River, the scales you can get black or jade G10, wood, or carbon fiber. There is one for sale setup like how I built one myself just never ordered on one of the Benchmade FB pages right now I am considering buying if he hasn't sold it yet. Full $300 price but he is throwing in a new Arvensis with it that is a $200 knife that interests me anyway. Black coated M4, black bolster, carbon fiber, blue pivot color, black hardware and back spacer and AXIS bar, black deep carry clip.
I’m sure the custom shop is at the mercy of the steel makers, just like every knife manufacturer. You use what’s available, or don’t make knives at all, I’m afraid. We’ve had an order in for CruWear for Bark River to make Gunny Sidekicks, and some other models, since February. Ain’t happening 🙁

Have both the 940 and the mini crooked river. Especially the action cannot compare to the 940 imo. The plunge grind execution is perfect tho.

Chris Reuther I find the deeper pocket carry clips don’t have enough tension... they feel too loose.
They also have the worlds best warranty, they just completely rebuilt my old used Benchmade and made it right again!

Just saw your custom looking through tags on instagram. Hadn't looked at their custom shop in a while. The griptilians have a g10 and stand off option now! You weren't kidding! I immediately bought a knife after heading there hahahaha
Love everything on this knife except that gap between the tang and the handle
keep seeing this problem with folders we are losing a bit of extra cutting edge that way

I find Benchmade often makes better knives out of the box than Spyderco. I can't speak to ZT because I have not owned one but my Knockout etc is nice. I don't know why you said they are behind Spyderco and ZT. Compare a PM2 with a 940, My 940-2 was literally perfect out of the box, every edge rounded and smoothed. PM2 has the most crappy slabs of G-10 with practically a 90 degree corner. I ordered a factory griptilian the newer G-10 version, very impressed with the quality all the edges knocked off everywhere, good transitions, crazy hard steel, solid feel. Its seems like everytime I get a LWT Spyderco I have to sit there and knock the edges off the molded handles etc
If you think benchmade makes a better quality knife than spyderco, then you must be new to the knife world. They are waaaay behind spyderco in their quality control. Love both companies, but spyderco has NEVER sent me a subpar product. Benchmade on the other hand has burnt me a few times.
If you told me to choose I would probably say I like Spyderco better just because they make knives in many places and have a lot to choose from

Anybody who tells you spyderco makes 100% without a doubt better knives than benchmade doesn’t buy enough knives I’ve had spyderco para 2s that you look at for 5 seconds and go “how did they mess this up this bad” every knife company has there problematic models that includes benchmade zt spyderco and any other production knife company you wanna put in that list
@@thecentralavenuegunslinger7861 I agree 100%. I have bought many knives in the $100-$300 range. Most have turned out pretty good. Some haven't. But 90% of my issues have had a benchmade butterfly on the blade. Period.

I have never seen anything other than default wood or black G10 in their custom area on their site. Only steel they list is D2, S30V and 20CV too
When I ordered my griptilian they had like 3 colors of G-10.. but more for the crooked river... idk why
You can def pick a lot more then that. You can also get M4 steel too in any of the models they let you build in the custom shop I believe but I know you can on the Mini Crooked River they offer carbon fiber, jade G10 and whatever other colors too. I just looked you can get S90v, s30v, M4, 20cv, or Damascus imagine its Damasteel in the Mini Crooked River, the scales you can get black or jade G10, wood, or carbon fiber. There is one for sale setup like how I built one myself just never ordered on one of the Benchmade FB pages right now I am considering buying if he hasn't sold it yet. Full $300 price but he is throwing in a new Arvensis with it that is a $200 knife that interests me anyway. Black coated M4, black bolster, carbon fiber, blue pivot color, black hardware and back spacer and AXIS bar, black deep carry clip.

Why did benchmarked stop letting you use 20cv in custom crooked rivers
I’m sure the custom shop is at the mercy of the steel makers, just like every knife manufacturer. You use what’s available, or don’t make knives at all, I’m afraid. We’ve had an order in for CruWear for Bark River to make Gunny Sidekicks, and some other models, since February. Ain’t happening 🙁
Nice overall but the tan scales are a miss for me. Would love it in wood scales - other than that it SWEET......
