Gorgeous Knife . I own a bunch of Benchmades and a bunch of Spydercos and I've had a lot more fit & finish and centering issues with Spyderco than I ever had with Benchmade .
Just ordered, mini crooked river. Black blade, black everything with grey g10 scales. blue pivot and backspacer I think I’ll get bronze screws. Full blow maxed out benchmade
The one thing I would change about the custom shop is to have the option of M4 without cerakote. I really don’t care for coatings and I like having a well-earned use patina on my blade.
@@nicholasnugen1689 Your preferences are perfectly reasonable, but try to look at it from Benchmade's point of view, given the comprehensiveness of their warranty vs. Spyderco's. It is in their interests to make their knives a bit more idiot-proof. This unfortunately causes them to limit options for people like you who are more knowledgeable.
I just picked up a limited edition mini from A knife dealer. jade handles, M4 blade. Now I want to do a custom of my own from benchmade. Of course I want a full size custom Crooked River as well. lol. Okay Jose are the best thing benchmade makes. Lol. In my opinion.
I am super excited! I am going to purchase my first real knife today! I am upgrading from a Leek to a Used/Like New 940-2 that I found on r/knifeswap for $120. I was blessed to be able to feel a 940 in hand the other day, and it just felt so right! Question: realistically, do you need to maintain D2 steel to keep it rust free when you live in a dry Texas environment? I got my older sister a Civivi Shard, which she will use for opening feed bags, cutting zip ties at her work, and maybe an occasional food prep task. She is good about rinsing the blade and leaving it open on a towel to dry, but does D2 need more than that to keep it rust free in a dry climate?
I live in Florida so I have to keep oil on D2. I find they won't rust with a little care. What they do is stain easy if you actually use the knife. I try to avoid D2 if possible. It's good steel if you understand what your dealing with.
That's a damn fine Mini Crooked River he's put together there. I think that's the best looking one I've seen yet. That blue is awesome. Have you sharpened it yet? If so, did it seem gummy at all?
The one thing that bugs me is that in the closed position the butt of the blade is exposed. It looks odd. I noticed this on some of their other knives. I don't recall it ever being a complaint when being handled or carried.
there is no justifying benchmade's price ! the only thing that can honestly said about benchmades price is that is ridiculous ,customer disloyal greed justified only by liehype that is echoed by mocking bird youtubers ! talk all day about the knife ( great knife ,just not that great !) but when you get around to the price it is just unjustifiable customer disloyal greeed ! that is why I buy the cones !

Very generous gift. I put a black thumb stud on my custom. A blue or black one would really set that one off.

I went with s90v just for the toughness and edge retention
S90v is anything but tough. It's brittle and chips easily. But yes it does have top tier edge retention

If you select the G20 scales then you get the option for the blue
if you pick g10 you can pick color
