Enjoyed the video. I have a '68 and '69 FLH and both have Super E carbs. My '68 does not drop the rpm quickly when riding and switching gears. There is no mechanical issue with the carb. I'm thinking my timing is too far advanced or the flyweight springs are not strong enough to retard the timing when closing the throttle to change gears. Have you ever encountered this?
@@nutsandboltzgarage5889 I'm gonna keep researching maybe I'll find one with the same vertical setup as mine, that's pretty what's left to be done on my first hardtail
@@nutsandboltzgarage5889 that's where it gets litte confusing for me, I did order a book and hopefully this old timer can swing by one these days I just need see someone thats done this before
@@nutsandboltzgarage5889 Thanks for being a nice guy. I'm a bit of a butthole when it comes to using the proper names. It all started while in the Air Force. Best mechanics training in the world. You don't make mistakes. I've had my 75 FLH since new. It has never been in a shop, not even for warrenty work. I've done it all myself, and that is with one complete rebuild front to rear. It's just this particular item came up once before along time ago so I will tell you about it. You might get a chuckle. This guy was trying to time Panhead using the two different marks on the fly wheel. First he set one and then he would set the breaker to the other mark on a different place on the flywheel. When I told him what he was doing wrong, he told me I didn't know what I was talking about. Everybody calls it a distributor. I told him my bike wasn't the one not running. And to prove my point, butthole that I am. I fired up the Graylady and rode away.
Good job, good video, kept it simple and to the point!
Dude. This rules! Thank you. Used it to time my new to me original paint 1968 FLH
👍 glad I could help out
Thank you! Greetings from Russia 🇷🇺🇷🇺🇷🇺

What is the jet size.. you use on the s&s carburetor main jet and slow jet .. tx 😎👍
Divine shovelhead!
Your timing hole is stripped?
By the way how did you fix it? Glue? I hAve the same problem lol
Does the points housing come with a cover
Yes there is a cover that goes on to this and is held down by a small screw on the side
🤘👢
What pushrods are those? Are they stock?
These are S&S pushrods for solid lifters.
Whats point gap and plug gap thx
Points is 0.022
I’ll have to look up plug gap
What you did here would it work on 70 ironhead 900!?
I don’t think so. You don’t have the same distributor. Yours is inside the cam cover. There’s a different process for the timing hole lines.

@@edmondndrecaj4377 there’s plenty of resources on line. It’s just where to put the line in the hole and what the gap should be set at

That is not a distributor. Both cylinders fire at the same time.
Correct. The proper name is a circuit breaker. Thank you

@@Helm-w1q no. I appreciate it. I knew what it was called. You're correct and welcome here !
