    I have that blue mixer, and I have worked in the laboratory. What I did was to take a piece of dense foam, and I put four holes in it spaced equally, that would fit the dropper bottles acrylic mini paints come in. Then you can put four paints on there at once and turn it on and walk away and you will get four bottles mixed up at the same time. but you have to make sure your holes are equidistant or it gets out of balance. I used rubber bands to connect it to that flat plate.

    When I was looking at paint mixers last year I ended up buying the green one too, it had a higher mix speed (most I found were about 3,600 rpm while the three legged mixer is about 5,400rpm of something like that) than anything I could find and I figured that would be good for really thick acrylic paints like Vallejo Model Colour, it has been an excellent purchase; I put a video of the mixer mixing a bottle of Citadel Tessaract Glow on Reddit, 3 seconds and it was done. I believe a few other people purchased the mixer just on the strength of that one video 😂
    I am a one handed modeller due to a severe nervous system condition I have, shaking paints was limiting my modelling time so the paint mixer has literally made it possible for me to model more often. Best money I've spent so far.

    I like the interchangeable plates & the variable speed. The gentle stir feature is desirable. It also sounds quieter, plus the flat plate is wide enough to lay a spray can or a wide bottle on their side for mixing. Wide plate looks like it can accommodate pint cans. The cup plate (lack of a better nomenclature) seems to better suited to hold small paint bottles. After all these mixers a made for laboratory test tube mixing.

  • @James3of3
    @James3of3 2 роки тому +2

    This is the one I got, and I love it. I used to use the clamp and jigsaw shaker, but it was clumsy. You went for this one because the other vortex looked like it would be difficult to get a bottle centered on it. But the cup on this one fits most paint bottles I have.
    I started investing in Alclad, and Tamiya paints, which don’t fit in the cup, so I plan on 3D printing a jig to fit the paints without me holding the jar to lessen the negative effects the vibration can cause your hands.
    But all my paint mixes great with this. Add mixing balls and never worry about unmixed paint again.

    You can put the bottles on the mixer on their sides too, I do that when I've got a particularly stubborn bottle of paint where the pigment sticks to the bottle, turning the bottle sideways on the mixer seems to work better for that. It doesn't produce the vortex, it's like a very rough ocean, sloshing around.

My mate bought a cheaper version from eBay, the motor in it is similar to what they put in cheap remote controlled cars, the £5-10 ones you find in cheap shops. I really don't know that I would use a paint mixer enough to validate the expense. My uses are more of car models and craft projects. Hope all is going well for ya. TC and ATB.
