Vortex Mixer Showdown - Paint Mixers Tested!

  • I'm trying out two different vortex mixers to see if either is better as a paint mixer for acrylic paints.
    As it happens, neither seems to better than the other at mixing paint.
    The black one is a little easier to use but feels cheaper quality.
    The blue one is much better build quality and seems a little more powerful but it moves over the worktop due to no suction cup feet.
    All in all you wont go wrong with either. Trying to squeeze paint out of a blocked dropper bottle nozzle on the other hand....

    The PSU there is rated up to 240v (like any other EU 2-prong), so it'll work fine in a UK socket with any adapter. There's no need to replace it.

    • @GoodEnoughWargaming
      @GoodEnoughWargaming  3 роки тому

      Very true. I've plenty of UK to EU adapters, so I could run the other one of I went on holiday, but I've no EU to UK one.
      I've stuck ut in the box of power adapters where it can live a peaceful life until a true crisis arrives and it can save the world.....

    1:25 I have noticed that the rubber feed will loose suction quite fast. I have used blue tack to stick it to my hobbydesk and that worked fine. I suspect you could stick the blue one to your table using the same method.

    • @GoodEnoughWargaming
      @GoodEnoughWargaming  3 роки тому +1

      Good idea! So far it sticks ok into the cutting mat. It only comes off after a while, I'll try blue tack to see if that helps.

    Nice video and i oh so loved the spillage. I know it seriously sucks but it's nice to see it happen to someone else for a change :D
    Personally got this exact black on about a year ago. Works wonders for me. I was considering the intllab shaker after it. Not because the black one was bad but curious how much better it was. Considering i got mine for 12 euro's and the intllab was 56... Even if it was better it wouldn't be 4x better (considering the price difference).
    Though considering the rampant dropshipping from aliexpress stuff and new import laws i might get some "normal" brand instead of ordering from Aliexpress again IF it ever breaks.

    I have the black mixer. It works, or better say, worked great. After a while the performance degraded and eventually stopped completely. The reason is poor design. Long story short, I bridged the switch to make it work again. But now it rotates continuously once its plugged to power. Perhaps I should add a switch.

    • @GoodEnoughWargaming
      @GoodEnoughWargaming  Рік тому

      I was wondering on the quality and how long it would last. Should be easy enough to add an external switch off you're happy enough to do some soldering.
      Or you could plug the 12v adapter into a smart plug and make it voice activated!

    • @GoodEnoughWargaming

      If you've and Amazon Alexa or Google home device, you can get smart plugs you can switch on or off by voice command. I use them for led lights, but the plug can switch any thing plugged into it.
      You create a name for the plug then you can issue voice commands like, "Alexa, switch on the mixer" and it'll activate the plug, powering the mixer

    Not sure about your testing. Several of the Citadel would not mix on the blue shaker, but rather than try it on the black device (a missed opportunity) you put the paint to one side implying that it was OK. When it clearly was not. You also seemed to give up mixing & resort to using your hand, several times why? Their is no time limit to the amount of shaking. Use it till the job is done. I have arthritis in my wrists, I also own the black mixer that came with a UK plug! All I can say with a added ball bearing (stainless) it does the job. Sometimes one paint will take longer than another. But that's life, a few more seconds seems to overcome any mixing problems encountered. Hope my input is OK
