Yeah we ended up selling this vehicle to Carmax. And no, I never did find out what the issue was. What I can tell you is the alternator had been actually replaced like a year prior to this video
Your power steering pump is not working properly and soon it will be very hard to turn and the noise will get louder. The good thing is that is a "cheap fix"
I have santa fe 2013. I encountered noisy isue just replace all bearing where the belt rotates. Dont buy idler pulley just buy bearing they are all replaceable. The whining sound coming from alternator bearing. After replacing alternator bearing my car so silent.
There is a strainer pipe at the oil pan and it is blocked sludge and tiny metal then cannot supply oil at the turbo. So need to clean that pipe and need new turbo cartridge
Same issue on a 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe. It's definitely coming from the rear of the vehicle... Transfer case. This is it guess from living with the problem for over a year and the sound is coming from the rear axle case of the vehicle. It would be nice if someone that is fixed the problem with chime in.

Idler pulley 37$ , your welcome.
2001 Santa fe 213k miles, same exact noise. Driving me nuts. Did you find a solution?
Has anyone figured it out yet? I have a 2005 that makes that same noise
Did you ever find out what it was? It's happening to mine
My opinion - transission problem! It's too obviously corelated with the switch of the transmission!
It’s the Turbo for sure on the Santa Fe Diesel engine
I’m assuming you took it back to the dealership?
If they just installed a new alternator was that the issue?
I have Elantra 2013 and has the same sound , it was from the gearbox
Also in some cases... check the generator pulley
Its the alternator
Sound like steering rack or pump
All Hyundais have this noise. Junk
