thank you so much for this vid! my magnum started whining guring accel, like someone secretly installed a supercharger! lol I had no clue what it was, but I dropped the trans pan, picked up a filter kit from dodge and got all the gunk off the magnet. put new filter in, got it all filled, and it was perfect for about 40k miles! now, it's back... so I assume I've got bigger issues than just a filter change. I will say, the car has 189k on it, so the trans has done a hell of a job. but your explanation was fantastic! thanks again!

Always appreciate your video. I almost hate the computer tell you how to check level on a trans then it tells you go check it. Dipstick handled all that. These days you got to use a scanner, vehicle on a lift and now you got to let the fluid til it trickles. Just give me a dipstick, hot and in neutral trans on level ground. 30 seconds done outside.

Man I've learned more in these 11 minutes than I have in days researching and reading through forums online. You're killing it out here! By the way do you think replacing a filter with new fluid could cause a transmission to start whining out of nowhere? I'm guessing possibly the replacement filter came faulty from the factory? At the moment it sounds like I have a supercharger whining up when accelerating the car, I would really appreciate your thoughts 🙏

possibly but Not likely just bring back filter grab another one if its still Whining its the Pump, Which these are known to fail on the 2016 2017 Chryster town n country dodges, similar years and is a recall... But they all seem to fail more than any others on 2008 to 2017 Models...... so im guessing ur pumps failing,

None of these Transmissions would provide half the problems if the manufacturers would put a big enough transmission cooler in to keep the transmission cool it's been going on for years it's never going to change they just build them long enough to get through warranty and it's bull crap cvts are garbage they should take them off the market

Question please, if you can: have you ever heard of a Ford super duty truck transmission making a buzzing, not clicking, but more like a continuous chopping or grinding. 190k on an F450 with a dump body, 6.7 diesel. Trying to figure out the noise. It's not the engine, but it does change tone when put in gear and neutral, but not much. Also seems to diminish when going down the road. Also sounds like a loose nut or grille plate or bracket with a vibration that is just plain loud outside underneath. How's all that for internet diagnosis? I know, you're probably super excited to try to help figure this out. : )

  • @69Dartman

On the old 727 and 904 transmissions are easy to rebuild and easy enough to RnR seeing how they are conventional rear drive. I've done a few and rebuilt the first 727 I swapped into my Dart but I broke it again having fun beating on it so paid a shop I trusted rebuild one of my cores and tone down the shift kit.
The trans in the 90s chevy vans we drive at work run about 150k then die and after that the Rebuilds we got never made 50k. They don't do Rebuilds very well on those or were skipping parts that should have been replaced I guess.
The shops are so scared to do anything but shove new parts at everything now to limit their liability. We used to study up on what parts to use to make them stronger and shift better/harder and that is what we used doing our own cars.

T5 whine. So I ran the trans hard in 1st through third with low trans fluid unknowingly. Now 1st through third whines like a supercharger. No whine in 4th or 5th. No whine when downshifting and or when in gear and not on the throttle. I burn up the teeth in 1st through 3rd? Fluid has been refilled and still does it. 91 foxbody that I bought 7 months ago and just finished rebuilding the entire motor from the ground up last week. 🤦‍♂️

      Happened to me years ago.
      The shop advertising a special.
Two days after, I had to step on it to keep up with traffic.
      Went back to complain.
      "I figured you'd be back"
He described that when the oil inside has been in a long time and hot, it forms a film of varnish on the parts (a sticky film that causes grip, even though it isn't supposed to be there, it's supposed to be shiny clean).
The new fresh fluid has a lot of detergent (that in your car the original detergent turned into a sticky gum)
The fresh detergent washed away the gummy film off (leaving you with worn undersize parts that clatter around freely now).

    Hello,

Some time ago i noticed when slowing down that it’s not shifting properly between 5th and 4th gear and especially between gear 3 and 2. It feels like it stays in higher gear and when shifting 3rd and 2nd gear there is a sound something similar when you drive manual transmition and car is in 3rd gear but you don’t give it gas pedal, like it’s chocking.
Few days ago, car stopped reacting to gas pedal in driving. I turned the car off and on again I was able to drive in first two gears but as soon as it reaches 3rd RPMs are going, but it seems like there is no gas/acceleration.
I changed the filter and the oil it works now, I am able to drive it but still have problem with downshifting from 3rd to 2nd gear, there is that sound again that reminds on not hitting the clutch while driving manual transmition.
