Too poor to afford
I really don't have a bike still watching it ... And also the 💰 to buy one still watching it ... Think that's love ..true love for a machine ...
How quickly do you think one would outgrow this bike?
Hey my man Yami...was wondering if you could tell me what do u reckon is a great middle weight class in the 650cc sportsbike class?
Hey yammie pube!! I need help. I bought this exact same bike a few weeks ago. I plan on doing sprocket upgrade as soon as I break in the engine. I only do short commutes everyday in the city. I wanna know your opinion about doing -1 +2 or -1 +3. Are there any cons in the long run. I dont care about top end. I just want it to be snappier!! thanks for reading!! Thanks pube!! Greetings from Mexico!!
I bought this in june this year. In black. In 3 month 5000 kilometres. A motorcycle again after more than 35 years. More than perfect to get started again. I drive a lot. But top speed is not my goal, just relax and enjoy it. The bike is simply the best for that and had tested a few before.
For a man named Yammie Noob he seems to know a lot about Yamaha kinda sus
Vote him out bois

I have had my MT-03 for 3 months now and put 2000 miles on it. I am 5'10" and 195lbs. I fit perfectly into the saddle, so I can see how any bigger than me is going to get uncomfortable. One thing I must say they do not accurately describe with this bike, is its power. Yes the spec sheet is not impressive, but this bike can easily pop wheelies in 2nd gear, so torque is not an issue. Additionally, I can get mine up to 60mph in 4th gear rather quickly. You have to rap it out to about 10,000rpm in each gear, and that opens it up. Don't be afraid to ring it's neck. The bike peaks performance and responsiveness at around 8-9K rpm range. Don't get me wrong, you can putt around at 4-5K rpm in all the gears just fine, and at lower speeds, it is very friendly at that range. But if you really want to feel what it can do, ring its freaking neck.
You’re absolutely correct. This thing goes if you ask it too. 0-60 in just over 5 seconds easy. It’s not a big deal to me. It feels so comfortable for someone my size and it’s honestly made me a better rider very fast.
I’m 6’2-6’3 so a good fit?
@@lauderdale77 it may be a little cramped for you, but go to a local dealer & sit on one and see for yourself. No 2 riders fit exactly the same way.
yeah ive had mine for almost a month and almost have 800 miles. its such a nice, comfortable bike. it has some kick as well so i don't think I'm gonna be needing anything more anytime soon lol. i do highway rides all the time and it cruises at around 7k rpm at 65-70. I'm happy, i don't see a need to go any faster than that.
Never shift till you see the little light! Turtle gang!!🐢💪🔥
This comprehensive breakdown was great! I really seeing 3 different sized people sit on the bike and while getting their perspective. I hope you do this for all bikes going forward.
I like what you guys did there at the end comparing how each of you fit on the bike. Gives us great perspective
Summary: if you're short, this bike is perfect.
Not short, Moto GP spec
Not short. The average height of a human male is 5'6.
What is considered short
i am 5'1", m i be able to touch my both feet or do i have to do tiptoe

I really enjoyed Josh's review. Tons of info, light on the tech yet still told me exactly what I needed to know. Nice work dude
It's a great format especially when the team gives different perspectives based on their own experience and preference!
Bought mine last July and have to say I love it!! I have tuned it up and changed almost everything possible but not because of poor out of the box performance. ECU certainly helped a lot
Picked mine up p today. I'm 5'11 with a 32" inseam and this bike fits perfectly. Very pleased with the bike
That is awesome including the "tall rider" comparison, hopefully you will keep doing that.
I just love the comprehensive breakdown reviews by you... Thanks Papa Yam✌🏼

I’m no longer a bike-less bro! Finally got my first bike. 09 ninja 500. Lovin it!!! Thanks papa yam!!!
I like this review and format. And I do like the different visuals and input of you 3 sitting on the bike.
I just started riding and I bought the 2021 MT03. I do love the bike but I wish I subscribed to you sooner. I’ve been learning so much from your channel. Thank you!
This is my first bike. As a novice rider, I love it. I am super comfortable and confident on the bike. Well worth the money
Can we all just recognize the quality production here? Killin' it, guys.
Damn. I feel like yammie and the boys are making the best moto content on UA-cam these days!
I just got a like from papa yam. I'm now at peace. 😊😊😊
Hey Yammie Noob!
Just got into my first motorcycle accident and was pretty rough but saved my life with your beginner videos and how to ride in general!
Lost my foot because of it but if I didnt properly where my equipment I would have been dead, I know this cause I hit my head and was fine!
This hasnt scared me away from riding! Half a year Ill be doing everything on my prosthetic! I plan to get back into riding but not for another year to make sure my mental is all good but I apperciate the videos and advice! Learning to control your body during crisis situations and wearing the right equipment saved my life!
Ohh I am a squib too haha! Got t boned from guy on the phone but what can ya do!
Keep on riding squibs don't be afraid
Crashing sucks! I wrecked back in 2014 and just got back on 2 wheels last year. Hope you got back out there.
Had this for a few months now. Here are my gripes:
80 MPH buzzes through the hand grips at an elevated 8500 RPM-ish. Not smooth or enjoyable for long freeway stints.
At 5’8/32 inseam my ankles feel a little cramped so I may have to drop coin for adjustable rear sets.
This may be more subjective, but I am not digging the headlight design because it appears to provide less light and therefore less visibility.
With that being said,This is my first bike And has many pluses and advantages that simply cannot be ignored. I have no regrets With this purchase and plan on keeping this bike to master all the fundamentals of riding.
The throttle and Lever functions are very forgiving, the light weight provides for superior flickability without being intimidating, the exterior cosmetic design is unique and draws a lot of attention, the price point seems to be unmatched for what you get,. Be sure of the seating position, as it is not a full tuck Rather 3/4 or more upright compared to the R3 or other bikes, but that is a plus for me. Confidence inspiring, well-mannered, comfortable.
The gearing is VERY short so if you don’t like shifting a thousand times in city streets this is not for you.
My advice? Don’t dump money into upgrades, use your cash for good protective gear (helmet/jacket/boots/gloves/pants).
I would not recommend this for anyone taller than 5’8. Or if you are gonna be long distance on freeways.
I love this and while learning about riding I am not getting bored any time soon. If you want to truly learn about riding techniques then this is perfect. If you are just all about upgrades and going fast without taking the time to learn fundamentals, then get whatever you want because you may just be giving riders a bad rep and will end up hurting yourself and other people.
Josh was great in this video. Awesome addition to the squad.
man I took some note on this bike from you guys and I'm convince that this bike is for me thank you for showing this bike
Love the new format
I've just bought a 2020 MT03 in Aus from the first owner who got it from the dealer. Done 1580km. I'm on the LAMS, I'm still technically a learner but going for my practical driving assessment (I'm so close, that is why I bought a bike). I'm ~163 cm and 52kg.
I've only had the bike two days but I've been loving it so far! So comfortable. Very beginner friendly. I find the throttle is hugely more responsive (I guess this bike has a lot of torque) than the cb125e I've been learning on, but it was easy to get used to. I was very comfortable riding it home in the dark on the highway doing 100km and a sprinkle of rain. Very nimble bike to move around, I am quite comfortable reversing the bike when I need to. My instructor actually told me to try out the mt03 because she thought it'd suit me and she got it right!
I like this dude. He sounds so casual and easy going
Extremely happy with my MT-03. I’m 5 11 but only 150lbs so I fit nicely into it
idk if you will respond, but are you still enjoying it now/still own it. I’m planning to buy one
love the content you guys put out
Finally, someone on the Yammie Noob crew under 6 foot.
Gostei da idéia de outra pessoa da sua equipe avaliar a moto. Opiniões variadas ajudam quem pretende comprar ou trocar de moto.
I like how each of you sit on the bike to show the comfort (or lack of)
Hey im not looking into starting riding, been riding 12 years and do trackdays bro :-P im just here for the content :-D
nice vids man, love to see them
That was probably the BEST intro I've ever seen on UA-cam. You guys really kick ass. Keep it up.
Hi from Portugal, love your vids!
Interested to see your thoughts on the BMW G310R. Most everyone seems to give it good reviews. Would like to see what Papa Yam has to say about it.
You killed it josh
Well, I've ordered this bike and I pick it up Saturday morning. New rider (I do ride dirtbikes but this is totally different). I looked at many bikes and my reasons for this bike? The price. The look. The ease of riding it.
I've already ordered my first mod kit before I even got the bike. LOL!

The first MT was a MT03.... The 660cc single version, pretty certain it was the first Master of Torque bike yamaha released!! Check it out, proper good fun!
More of these. Great video.
Hey man love your vids
Welcome baby yam Josh to the fam! :))
Originally I was looking at a BMW G310GS and then the G310R due to height. In May and June when I was looking there was nothing on Craigslist for the area and what was listed had retail prices attached for bike with 10k on them. So I started looking at new. Local BMW dealer didn't have the 310 so I drove to Nashville. Where they had them. Was in the fence so I waited called a couple days later and it was gone. Local dealers was selling so fast here they had nothing in stock. I went to a dealer off the main road and took a look around and found the mt series and one that fit my size. So I bought it and was the last one they had with no idea when more was coming.
As an owner here are my thoughts... I fail to see where the throttle tube is excessive. Mine is 1/4 turn from idle to full. I recently went to several dealerships and except for the stupid fast liter bikes, all had 1/4 turn close to full as well, maybe it's a response thing but I am new to riding so why would I know other than others saying it's "bad" Also remember it's purpose as a beginner bike.. it needs to be forgiving.
As tfts are nice... I don't find myself staring at my dash when riding so in the end it gives me the info I need quickly as is. Better brakes... Ok then swap out steel reinforced lines on it and call it a day or swap in a different caliper. Mine stops just fine as is.
Some of us new riders don't fit the bikes we want and when you are below average height. At 5ft6in with a 28in inseam I still have to be on the balls of my feet at level and tipped toed in inclines and I originally wanted and ADV bike with all the fire roads and trails around my area....but here I am now.
As far as the looks, it a love or hate. I love the look. The projector on this has a better beam pattern than my truck does, though side to side is lacking as I live in an area without street lights and wildlife is a bit active...
Also as a new rider there are more things to focus on than.. "dude it needs an exhaust man.." especially without a tune. Later down the road yeah maybe... Crash protection is a no brainier on any bike. As far as speedo being off. It is already off from the factory GPS says 50 and it's reading 53. In the car world this can be corrected during an ECU tune fairly easily. Not sure why 400 and then another 100 unless it's a cut and paste tune which I feels never worth the money compared to a true tune to the specific application.
New or experienced rider this one is a peach for heavy City traffic and commuting!
Hello sir yammie...new subscriber here..from philippines...ilove watching ur videos...
Honestly I'm so thankful towards my parents for my 34" inseam... I'm guessing it'll be really helpful for when I eventually start riding.
I got a pro tip for you: START RIDING
MT09 is the only way to go for a beginner bike.
Ummmm . I would prefer the MTO7
Super duke

Wow Yammie has really grown since I last dropped in.
Papa Yams, man your crew is pretty cool.
I'm 6 ft tall, my legs did not fit on the MT03. Got myself an R3 instead, I fit super comfortably and it's a blast to ride
Damn Yammie cycle sales out there in Austin. Last time I watched his channel he had 1 giveaway bike.
Love the comprehensive breakdown... it’s like donut media for bikes
love this bike. sure it could do better related power and some features like a slipper clutch. my rear is blocking all the time. but all other bikes are either higher or heavier, mostly both. someone with short legs like me would never feel as confident on those bikes as i feel on this one. sure some time later i need to get something else....
can you make a comparison between a MT03 and a honda CB300R? i would love that!!!
yes yammie thats a great video, NOW WHERES THE MV AGUSTA
Yamaha has been on top of their game lately
Going to buy my first bike this year, as little experience and a beginner rider this is going to my First choice.
He did a very comprehensive and succinct review.
👍
I bought one of these as my first bike and three days later it was stolen right out from under my nose. It was the perfect first bike for the 15 miles I had it. The Disc brake lock I ordered came in the mail the next day.
Sad. i hope you had insurance, and will be riding again soon :-)
3 way Ergonomics check was great. Mentioning height weight and rider triangle, and seeing all 3 of you sitting on the bike, Was 10/10 on the yamieuseful scale. At 6' tall 360lbs. I worry I will look like a gorilla riding a bicycle on most beginner bikes.
I'm 5'10 . Will this bike suit me perfectly?
great idea to have multiple experience levels and sizes (height and weight--not everyone is a nimble sprite)
The 390 Duke has a seat height of 32.7 inches, almost 2 inches taller than the MT-03 and Z400. That can be a big deal for shorter riders.
I am price sensitive. (i.e. poor.) and love this review. Thanks.
I want to know about the front end on that first gen SV. Back in the day everyone was into putting GSXR forks on, but they generally relegated you to clip ons. Is that something different, or just a drilled triple clamp? I have cartridge emulators in mine, but it's still not as good as truly adjustable suspension.
Also, if you feel too stretched out on the SV get some Bikemaster Daytona bars. They make it way more comfortable for a taller rider. Couple them with some SVRacing parts rearset risers flipped upside down and you can ride the thing all day. My two favorite mods, I don't care for a very aggressive seating position.
Tbh i got the throttle tube and some chinesium shortys and that's about it except stickers and painted my stock exhaust camo.
I'm 5'6". So this is perfect! Is what i want to say but theres no pavement road here. Just all dirt. So im going to get the CRF300L instead. I want a parallel twin but adv bikes are expensive. And the cheapest one i saw is the CB500X that can at least survive off road here. Theres rocks, muds, and loose sands here. Definitely going towards the CRF300L.
My wife is getting a teneré 700cc and will be getting her 2019 mt03 as my first bike :DD
I just passed my MSF. Got inspired by this channel. Now, I've been watching a LOTTTTTTT of videos on what's the best first bike to get.
I saw this MT-03, my concerns are, not fitting well and that in a month or two I'll want to replace it for another bike.
This is my list, any help or recommendations will be appreciated:
1. MT-03
2. MT-07
3. SV-650 ABS
4. Z400 ABS
5. Z650 ABS
Which one will you recommend as a first bike. My background experience is only on dirt bikes and atv's, no street motorcycles.
Have u ever considered doing a video on the kawasaki z400 as a beginner bike papa yam?
Can spite make a list of beginner bikes he fits on?
A lot of the small displacement adventure bikes will fit your taller 6’ plus riders.
The KTM 390 ADVENTURE, Kawasaki Versys 300, Honda CB500x, or BMW 310 GS will all be a little more accommodating to taller/bigger fellas.
Some of the small displacement cruisers can work for tall guys too. You’ll preferably go sit on a few different models to see which ones you’re not cramped up on.
If you have a lot of dirt bike experience, you should be able to start on a mid size 600-900cc bike. Which will open more doors for taller riders.
Yes please!
I'm 5'6" with a 28 inch inseam. I'm thinking about getting back into motorcycles I haven't ridden since college. I'm 50 now. My first bike was a Ninja 250 and I also had a lot of time on a ninja 600. I'm thinking about this bike even though it's slower because I live in a town that most of the roads are 35 mile an hour speed limits. I know that 8:35 Mi an hour road is more fun on a smaller displacement motorcycle then a bigger display with motorcycle just because you hit it so fast on a larger displacement motorcycle. Plus this bike leaves over 3,000 in my pocket compared to an MTO 7. I thought about the Royal Enfield 411 but that bike makes even less horsepower and does not have Yamaha reliability. This just kind of seems like the better bike for running around town.
I dig the intro
Mt03 predates the z400 - just not sold in the US until after the z400 was released. Mt03 was sold in Australia a long time before the z400 was heard of let Aline released. Test rode an MT03 with a bunch of other LAMS legal bikes here, when my son was looking to start riding - it is a great bike, and I could have purchased the demo I rode for AU$5000 which is a bargain. Did not buy it but it would have made a great city computer happy to park on the street
Thanks for thinking about us, poor Eurosquids !
lets see more josh
Sad thing is that in Australia the Duke 390 is the equivalent to 5000USD (7000AUD) ride away and the CB300R, MT-03, Z400 and even G310R are all actually more expensive by up to 1000AUD. At that price the Duke with its tons of tech and way higher performance is kind of a no-brainer.
Meh, I like the cb500f more. Was my first bike, enough power I didn’t grow out of it to quick, but forgiving enough to learn on and not kill myself. Also good for tall new riders. I’m 6’5”
Obviously the 550HP on race fuel Hayabusa Turbo (with the RCC Turbo Kit Ultra) is the perfect beginner bike.
I not a big mt fan but I have to admit it the mt 03 is a great beginner bike
Yammie you're killing me bro. Where is the video of you riding the MV Agusta you just got?
I feel the same thing
yep same here
First ride coming this weekend, track comparison with V2 the week after then raw on track video coming!
I love watching these videos even though I may not ever get a bike. At least not now. My Dad thinks it is too dangerous for a small girl like me to ride.
Yammie, you gotta do a test review on the MT3 competitor the Kawasaki Z400. To be fair, a bike in which you have to twist the throttle wide open to get a bit of response is not only not "fun" but teaches a new rider little. That describes the MT3.
For the experienced rider wanting to enjoy himself & maybe work on his skill set, this bike offers little.
I think the Kawasaki Z400 solves these problems. Come on, do test/ review on it.
I have an MT03, with stock exhaust and power. I can easily get it up to 60 in 5-6 seconds depending on how good I shift. It redlines at 1200 rpms and it loves to be revved. I don’t think it’s slow tbh. I can zoom 80-100mph in 6th gear no problem. You DO gotta work for it 90+ though. Wheelies in 2nd gear fine. I literally love this little bike. If you want a faster bike.. get a bigger cc engine lol. Duh.
1)Great review! 2)When you talk about mods and mention "Tail Cleanup/Integrated Tail Light"... you say $150 but text on screen says $120...which one is it? 3)Those mods are a grand total of $1960. If we add that to the MSRP of $4599, that makes this bike $6559!...wouldn't it be better to just spend $5499 on a KTM 390 and get the BEST bike in this class?!...unless you guys feel that the KTM 390 also needs major mods to be made "a bit better" and that would cost also close to $2000 more! PLEASE LET US KNOW!
I used to have (Kawasaki ke 100 . KLR 250 . Gpz 550 . 650z. 1973. (Honda CB 550. Vf 750) Yamaha XT 250. 650 sx .) Suzuki Gsx 750 1987. Rm 250 2 stroke.
Yammie, hey brother. I am from Texas also. East, bible belt hell. Where the hell can you watch a motoGP race at a sports bar in Texas? Because they all air at 7am Texas time on Sundays its a major pain in the ass getting a sports bar to record it. I have the motoGP subscription, but we want to get out and order some nachos and beer lol. Cheers Yammie, thanks
In India, We don't have a lot of bikes I see on this channel just like the mt 03
Sukrit Singh I think the problem is, from a marketing perspective, a lot of bikes in India don’t make sense in the US and vice-versa. Like we don’t have the MT-15. 100-200cc bikes aren’t designed for wide and mostly uncogested (relative to India) US roads; also because speed limits seem to be higher here we need a little more power to sustain those higher speeds. Similarly, 500-750cc bikes don’t seem to make a lot of sense in India bc depending on where you live the roads are super congested; and the people willing to put up with all the extra power are most likely willing to put up with the even more ridiculous power of liter bikes anyway (I mean if neither option is practical from the start, there’s not much point going with a bike with less power). That class makes perfect sense in America and is definitely a more practical option compared to liter bikes.
Hopefully in the future India’s infrastructure will improve and we’ll start seeing more powerful bikes. And hopefully that’ll lead to less congested back roads.
Because our roads mostly ain't apt for bigger bikes. Like Americans always consider 300cc a beginner bike whereas, us Indians consider them big bikes and you know damn well a Duke 390 is a lot to take for a newbie in India 😂

I like that it's a 2 cyl. bike; I believe that a 2 cyl. is smoother than a "thumper", and much better overall....
I like this bike and its perfectly suit for short guy(167cm) like me, but my country Malaysia only import MT25 wihich is no ABS and slighty less power version, maybe due to costing considering , so disappointed.😞

Hi yammie, ive been watching reviews for half a year now, i have a claasic restored honda tmx 125 scrambler for a year now. I really want a naked now, but there are only 2 showrooms nearby, yamaha and honda, can i step up to 700cc class or 900cc? Im really confused between the mt07 mt09 cb650r. I really need help. The only other big bikes ive ever experienced qas the ducati multistrada of my cousin, but its too big, im only 5'4. Hope to hear from you. More power
Can you do a review on the Honda cbr500 vs the ninja 400 please? 🙏I don’t what one to get.
Both are a2 compliment for all of us European bro’s
What about a beginner comparison?? CFMoto 450ss and the Yamahas MT03? Both bike have been praised by you as good beginner bikes in the sub 6000 category and I'd like to see your comparison?!
