Hi from Great Western territory in the UK. lovely show loved the layouts bought back some memories as I lived in Gawler with my uncle in 1981/82 he worked at the Holden factory in Elizabeth ( now closed I think?) Took a trip from Adelaide Station, when it was open air to Perth and back Indian Pacific in seats $40 each way. Highlight was a cab ride in SAR Class 900 No. 906 Port Pirie to Adelaide. I understand they have electrified the line to Gawler but they don’t run stone trains anymore that used to wake us up in the night on there way North!

Yes Holdens have closed in Elizabeth. Most off Adelaide is now electrified.

Watching this eagerly anticipated video now, thank you for coming across and covering this exhibition! The Adelaide modelling scene is a lot smaller than the East Coast, however there are still plenty of skilled craftsman, modellers and most importantly, enthusiasm for the hobby. Was great too to see RTR modellers support our scene through their products of our prototype, like the Stone Hoppers and 900 Class locomotives.

I had to investigate one of your 'long' Model Railway expo videos. Ok I can see there's a lot of work to pull this video off, a lot of time to shoot and to edit together. Personally I now steer clear of videos which need so much time and effort to produce as I'm (and you) up against a very aggressive system now. The V&SAR Lego trains had some surprises and I have never seen the smaller gauge and mixed gauge rails. But in my books the absolute classic Lego train system is from the 1980's. 12V with the power coming metal extra rails between the tracks. This system had all the elements to be a real model railways system. It was simplified into the 90's with metal capped tracks. Also seeing the TT120 layout caught my eye, but my prediction is this system will fail.

Another great video Will! The Morgan to Barmera line would have continued to Renmark and then into NSW to Hay which would have connected it to Sydney via the Main South. It would have been a game changer connecting the food bowls of SA, Victoria & NSW with both markets and ports in 3 states. Sadly SA never had the money to finish it and the other states weren’t interested. But if it was built today it would be a major freight route.
    What a pity!
What a great exhibition, some really amazing layouts!
    Cheers Will

      @@WillJamesRailways
Yes I will let them know my father is secretary but they also manage the railway at the Whyalla museum which for some time back in the 80s was the largest in the southern hemisphere it now houses a damn fantastic layout on one side the snow town to Adelaide run past the flinders rangers the. Of course the other side is the iron knob to Whyalla steelworks run of course that’s in partnership with G&W they are now arranging the changeover to aurizon anyway. They hosted the SA show a few years ago with a big turn out and the usual suspects from Adelaide and indeed some other states. But certainly next time your down that way it’s well worth catching up with them they run many layouts and if you search back through to last year they brought there SA maree layout to the Adelaide show needless to say the politics got involved which is what they were absent this year and I totally get it I move up to QLD and we have plenty here on the Fraser coast with layouts and indeed many clubs and organizations of which I’m proud to say I’m in none of them they all want me in their clubs but honest to GOODNESS ME im not into the nonsense let’s just get on with the trains. Committees membership fees big thumbs down. You stay safe im heading back to work on a Forrest im building hope you enjoyed the cricket ground I built and share in a recent video a couple of weeks ago. Stay safe.

Which exhibition there was two last weekend?
I was at the AMRA exhibition which has for the first time in Vic the very large Blue Mountains Layout, Kinmont and Winch Number 3 which is new on the scene and a very refreshed Crosby Stephens from the Sunshine club, plus a few others that had seen some changes like the German layout, who’s name currently escapes me, plus there was the Tait on Sunday for a bonus!
I’m not sure what was at the other exhibition!
