One of the very few death metal albums tuned to E standard. proving, once again, that you don't need anything more than 6 strings, in standard tuning, to sound brutal and heavy. So sick
Christ I've been playing for 30 years and if I'm playing metal rarely need more than 3 strings unless doing a solo. I tune by feel of the strings that's it. Tuning for me runs about a full step below 440, depending on the strings.

I can't put into words just how brutal, dark, fast and heavy this album was when we first heard it back in 1992/3(can't remember the exact year it came out)
All of the metal heads I knew either loved it, or couldn't cope with the darkness of the sound and the amazing time changes in the songs, one of the best death metal albums ever.

I was 12 first time i heard this album on a boot tape a friend gave me. Put it in my walkman and had to throw it out because i got scared shitless. Only just started to dabble in metal back then. Laid on my bookshelf for more then a year before i picked it back uo and could appreciate it for what it was. Havent put this album down since. Was one of the first cds u bought when i got my first cd player and became one of my all time favourites.
‘92…… I was a softmore in high school…… this made me a lifelong listener of death metal. Heard this on tape and was blown the fuck away!!!

The most vicious and evil death metal album that I have ever heard. It just steamrolls over you, leaving you gasping for air. It is unrelenting. A masterpiece.

I remember when “legion” came out among my friends I bought the cd, when we came home we were fucked, an album so compact and deadly few existed and even now after years “legion” makes the difference.
I have listed to this for 30+ years. And is still one of my favourites bands. They’re still going strong... looking forward to seeing them again...

Remember when i was a kid, 13 buying moonshine from a heroin addict, his apartment was chaos and he was fucked up. I got really paranoid and wanted to leave the he grabbed me and said "You wanna here a intro from hell?" I said nothing then he put this cd on. I was extremely terrified. As the music started he was screaming "DADDY!!" (Refering to Satan) then he fell dead to the ground and i had to knock on the neighbours door for them to call ambulance.
It was this cd! After 25 years i finally found it. Wish me well

I imagine Benton sang the first album while taking a massive load that wouldn't come out, with his face all red, and eyes bulging as he's about to make the sacrificial cut. In this one he sounds like he's standing on a mountain.

I agree in that is has the same ferocity as Reign in Blood. Both albums are unrelenting and aggressive. They both crush you.
Reign in blood is kindergarten music compared to this relentless, filthy masterpiece.
One of my all time favorite bands and albums. I've been lucky enough to see them live numerous times over the last 30+ years. I met Glen a few times and got his autograph. Awesome guy. I saw them on tour for Once Upon The Cross with the original lineup. Bought a tom drumskin autographed by all the guys . I just recently saw them when they were supporting the 30th anniversary of Legion. Now I have a 23yo son and he loves them too. We've seen them together a couple of times. I'm listening to In The Minds Of Evil as I write this. Can't wait for the new album and tour. I already pre-ordered. HAIL SATAN 👹🔥💀☠️

Back when this came out a friend of mine went to Japan on a school cultural exchange trip. He came back with two experiences from his trip. This album was one of them.
I knew this guy that went over there from America (Japan) and he told me the first day he arrives at his sponsoring families house the dad tells him he can have sex with his teenage daughter whenever and his wife only when he is watching and filming.
bought all their albums in the 90s. But what i remember first, when i think of them today: their album were always way too short :D

Idk Immolations Dawn of Possession I think is even darker sounding than this. This album is more technical and chaotic (in a evil way). Immolations riffs are just pure from the bowels of hell sounding

It was several years after was launched when this gem started to get the public fans and criticises attention which it deserved. Mental and so different at that time!! ATROZ!!
try listening to the first track at 2x speed. especially that groovy part (seriously) when he says "never will they see you lurking in my shadow..." that's pure groove. but at 2x speed, it makes more sense. I mean: that's how I remembered that song from 30 years ago. oh, and that part "satan spawn the cacodaemon" sounds perfect at 2x. in my mind that song has always been that...slow :D

I thought it was only a kind of a pentagram, i don't see it..

The way I interpret the symbol: the inverted cross at the bottom is the serpent's forked tongue. The line beneath the pentagram is the bottom rim of the crown. The perspective is as though looking down into the crown.
I think that the snake's head--the lines beneath the "pentagram"--is pretty obvious, although I can understand the crown being a bit weird-looking.
I wouldn't call it a "pentagram" in the traditional sense of the word, though. The pentagram has five intersecting line segments, whereas this one has six. The pentagram represents the essential elements of alchemy, connected: fire, earth, air, water and spirit, with spirit at top. The inverted pentagram can represent material elements oppressing spirit, inversion of natural order and the horned head of Pan/Baphomet/Satan.
This was definitely "spooky" for the time. Killer death metal!
