This album scared the shit out of my parents.
Mom couldn’t say shit. She was a music teacher and I had just discovered flying Vs and Marshall amps. Wasn’t to long after the house was never quiet again. Still doing it almost 40 years later. Time well spent.
Brilliant story - despite my Christian Church upbringing, I grew and wore an Eddie Skel t-shirt, and fucked off the church! My Gran, when she eventually caught up with me, found me in some street wearing it, and lectured me - haha!
I loved my Gran, a beautiful Lady but then later I turned all Slayer....
Good God ---- fucking done in I was
hahahhaa, I still love her though she has left RIP - I will never forget the chase.
damn you’re old as shit
I was out of the house by the time I raised the slayer banner. Mom was sick and dad was gone. I'm all over the map somewhat with music but this feeds my needs at times and thus I wander this landscape darkly brooding with the hunger awaiting to be born again.....🙂
Yeah, I left a copy of Misfits' Earth AD in the tape deck of my father's work truck. He got a real wake-up call the next morning going to work. I most likely left it on 10. He asked me what the hell I was listening to. That was probably around 1987.
So fucking cute. good for you

Happy Birthday Dave Lombardo, the best drummer of thrash métal,Godfather of double bass drum
I actually got a chance to sit behind Dave one night he did a show in Atlanta with grip Incorporated did a show with him
Gene Hoglan, Dave is 2nd
and one of the best drummers ever
It's not right how they did him. Without Dave, they would not have reached legendary status.
Brutal perfection. This album made history, and changed thrash forever.

Slayer set the bar for sure.
"Brutal perfection"- very poetic, love it!
It will be ALL TIMES NUMBER 1 in Heavy Metal HISTORY !
The most intense 28 minutes in metal History.
It wastes no time.
Had to give Lombardo a break and make it short.
Definitely a godfather of thrash. This type of metal was ahead of its time.. Metallica saw this, watered it down a little and copied the formula. Slayer is one of a kind

So sick the way that Postmortem ends while Raining blood kicks in.
I was JUST thinking the same thing!!!!!!!!!! Great minds think alike! 👊
I always loved when they play that live..
I've seen them so many times from the 90's to their final tour a few years back and I was never disappointed.
They played the whole album back to back at some of the shows I'd been at but one memory that will always stand out was Ozzfest in I think it was 2002 when they played the whole album and then at that part where Post Mortem fades into Raining Blood it actually began to rain right at that exact moment as Tom stood there with his hands help up...
and it was a welcome shower cooling the pit and we all ended up rolling around in the mud by the end of the show..
That was def one of the best gigs Slayer are a powerhouse of Metal, they never fail to deliver
Yeah it was so perfect
Shout out to Def Jam for releasing a Heavy Metal album on their label and Rick Rubin's production resume is insane
