How about sequencing the slices? I expected this to just work but apparently not? That’s an obvious feature that should have been implemented in the slice mode. At least a way to easily chop those slices up so they can be sequenced as pads…
What you can do is: go to Sample mode, adjust the in and out 'flags' then go to the File name, Press File, Save As - Rename - Trim - Save. Then you can load it to an empty pad and change it into Clip mode if you want to loop it. Fucking complicated.
Can you pitch each individual slice? Also can you timestretch slices? Is it possible to have different filter settings on each individual slice as well?
At this time, no. You can sync a sliced sample and even experiment with playback direction, slice selection, and a new PlayThru option that allows you to trigger any slice - and the unit will continue playing all slices that come after.
@@1010music I wish there was a way to record parameter changes like sample length, pitch, filter or other parameters that are reached through the "info" button while in the "pads" mode. Then the parameter changes could be a recorded part of the sequencer section and a screen touch "clear" option could be added in the "SEQS" section to remove any recorded parameter changes without undoing or clearing the sequence
Am I too sleepy and missed something? I'm trying to get my controller to trigger different slices with different notes, but I didn't catch where this video explained how to do that.
@@cloudrun654 Current theory I'm working is that it might be a midi channel thing. I just got this controller, and I've yet to figure out how (or even if) one can change the channel on it. I've set the keyboard input on the Blackbox to channel 1 and the pads to channel 2 for now (which might as well be off until I figure out a way to set my controller accordingly if that's even possible) and I'll try slicing a sample later to see if that helps.
Slice a WAV. Then press KEYS. Scroll to C2. Your slices will begin at C2 and move up a 1/2 step for the next and so on. If you are using 1.4.3 or newer firmware you can press KEYS a second time to reveal the grid-based keyboard. If you use the grid keyboard on a sliced pad you will only see the slices (notes) that have slices mapped to them.
I think the problem is everyone expects a way to automatically assign the slices to pads. That is what happens in most DAWS. It would be nice to drop a drum loop in and slice it up into a drum kit. That is what I expected it to do. Take a slice, convert it into a clip or a sample.@@1010music

Is there any chance that the two note polyphony when in slicer mode can eventually be increased? I have some large sample chains of various instruments wherein I sampled every note of the instrument, so it would be awesome to be able to play a four-note chord with the same midi channel.
Hello! I have a question, is there a way to make the slices avoiding the silences to be a slice? I don't know if I explain myself correctly, if I have an audio file with several words but there are silences between words there is no way to make the slices only with the sounds? There also has to be a slice of silence and I would like you to take only the part with audio.
If you use the Threshold method of slicing the slices should begin at the start of the audio. You will have some silence at the end of each slice. You can also use the Split/Join commands to manually adjust slices. Otherwise you need to cut the silence out of the audio file.
The problem with this box is that you cant export your music creations. Whatever beat you create inside the blackbox stays in the box. You spend a lot of time mangling samples and creating neat sounds but you cant share anything. At some point you want to take something to a DAW and currently is extremely difficult to figure out. The instruction manual doesn't even mention this subject. Make a video addressing this issue. Basically Show how to create a beat with the included sounds plus your own, then follow up by saving/exporting or transferring the files so anyone can use it in a DAW. Make it easy. Otherwise this box resolve nothing.
You have options. You can create a full track and use resample to mix down. This has always been there, next, you can connect the multi outputs and MIDI to your Daw and simply transfer. If you get stuck our forum is full of users who do this and can offer other strategies. Otherwise, send us an email and we can help you.
my guitar only outputs live playing, I can not get tracks for each string independently,. I have to play the whole song live, and record the full sound all at once, . the horror. Sorry, just taking the piss,. there are six (6) independent outs on this box (that "resolves nothing"),. just multi-track record it, and you are in the DAW box of your choice.

similar to "automation" on ableton/push or parameter locks on elektron machines

I think you want the Play through setting set to off and slice sequence set to none.

This was helpful, but how do you get the slices onto the pads? Huh.

Sounds great. But not at this time. Sorry. You can auto slice by transient or to a grid.

Ah. It looks like I’d need to use the multi-sample mode and just chop up my chains first. This would give the 4-note polyphony I desire. Cool!
