No exaggeration Darren, that walkthrough video changed everything for me. I never found that type of intro with Premiere, so I had a hacky utilitarian knowledge. Starting fresh with DVR via your video was a totally different experience. Thank you so much!
That's how the Color page should be explained to beginners! When I was starting with Davinci Resolve (and editing) last year, I was really intimidated by the Color tab. The term 'graded' seemed so pro and advanced that I didn't even want to think about that... But after about a month of learning and working on my first video, I gave it a go, watched some of your tutorials and... the Color Page is actually very well designed and when you grasp the basics, the grading is a LOT of fun and really powerfull finishing part of any edit. So to all my fellow Beginners > Don't be afraid! Watch some of Darren's tutorials and you'll be surprised how quickly you will be able to improve your videos.
Been using Resolve for over a year now. Watched a lot of Casey Faris to get me started. Your videos have are just as easy to follow and they have changed the way I do things for the better.
You have what a teacher should have; the ability to transmit information in such a way that the recipient perceives it and always wants to know more. You do this clearly and in detail. Thanks. I want to see the rest of your tutorials.
Loving these short walk throughs as I can refer back to them quickly, some people rattle through ‘how to’s’ far too quick to follow, this is clear and well paced.
Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant, Darren. Your videos are the first ones I watch on UA-cam when I come to the website, and this video only confirms why.
Thanks . I am a pharmacist and enjoying video editing for family stuff and very basic editing but I like learning and know about possibilities... I have heard/work with the most complex dosing schedules for patients being discharged after multiple organ transplant. But never heard about a node. Pretty cool. Good teaching style.
I'm a complete newbie and sooo thankful I found your tutorial on my first date with Davinci Resolve! Finally a compact and easily understandable overview of the basics. Thank you so much!
Thank you for these beginner guides, sir. Would really love some episodes that explains the color page and the entire color grading workflow in depth🙏❤️
Thanks Darren for all these videos in which you covered the basics of first-time Davinci Resolve 18 users. In every video, you make it simple to understand how this software works.
very nicely explained.....great advice on nodes, they are an "idea" you have...try it and if dont like you can turn off or re-set without affecting your other "ideas".
Thanks a lot for the clear and concise walkthrough of the color page in Resolve. As a Beginner and aspiring colorist, I Appreciate your efforts Darren sir. Along with being a great colorist, you are also a good teacher. Love from India
Hi Darren, greetings from Canada! 🇨🇦 Having found your channel just a few months ago has been pure bliss when it comes to having the best resource person about Resolve. I'm just a beginner editor for our church production delving into color grading and these tutorials are top notch essential for any Resolve users. I'm excited for you and your content as I believe there's a lot to cover in Resolve. For what it's worth, I wish you the best and thank you for the quality content!
One of my lecturers told me about your content and I'm so glad he did, there's some really good stuff that has expanded my knowledge as well as some nice overviews of what I already know to act as a refresher. I've made it a routine to come and watch some stuff before I tackle any big projects. Thanks for doing what you do, your channel is the perfect resource.
Thank you for sharing this, Darren. I've got so much better with Colour grading, all thanks to you. I'm so happy to see you pass 80K subs. Just goes to show the value you provide. I hope that one day I meet you and say thank you❤️❤️
I also like these eventhough it’s not new, there are small things like cleaning up the nodes that I didn’t know. I also use grab still to create thumbnails (from 1080). Happy easter🐥
Although I have been working in Davinci for quite some time and feel comfortable in the color page, I learned a new shortcut for applying a grade to another clip! 😊
Thank you very much! I’ve watched several videos from other channels and they have been very confusing, this video was super simple, thank you so much!
Seriously you are the only person on UA-cam that can explain colour grading in such a straight forward way that can be understood. Too many others go through things way too fast to try and understand for a newbie. I’ve been struggling with getting my colours right with iPhone Dolby Vision HDR videos and they always look washed out and flat. Any tips on how to set up my project correctly for this and get it looking good for HDR video for UA-cam? Thanks
Just purchased Davinci Studio and keep finding myself coming back to these tutorials as a new user. I appreciate these tutorials even more as they are coming from the role of an actual working pro. This is the third video I've watched entirely from front to back. Like'd and sub'd. You're a natural in front of the camera! Kudos and well done!
Thank you for subscribing. It really means a lot to me as I work hard on sharing my professional knowledge and subscriber counts mean I know Im delivering what you want to see. THANK YOU!! Check out my well curated playlists too. Al the best, Darren
@@DarrenMostyn no worries. Of couse I looked up a tutorial for the Resolve Speed Editor and guess what came up number 1? I may have to get a DarrenMostyn T shirt or something...ha.
Thanks for this wonderful tutorial. I was indeed worried about those nodes, but now understand that they are similar to Layers in, say, Photoshop, that you can mute or undo to your heart's content. I just went along with your tutorial with some footage I have on my computer. Great stuff.
Thank you I just watched the beginning. I have been working for the past two years with film pro which now is a piece of crap I bought the lifetime subscription that no longer exists. Anyways, I am going to switch over after watching your video and I just want to thank you and I’ll probably be watching a lot of your videos learning. Thanks thanks again have a wonderful weekend. What’s left of it and I guess I will see you in the next video.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge of Davinci Resolve. You make things look much more comprehensive for a beginner in the Color Panel. You are my go to reference when it comes to Davinci Resolve.
Thank you so much for all of this brilliant content. It has made resolve a lot clearer while I've been learning it and I've finally had the confidence to release my first documentary on UA-cam. Thank you again.
Very nice beginner instructional video! I’m not new to video editing, but I am new to DaVinci Resolve. Some of the other sections were easier to learn, but the color page was a little more intimidating. Not anymore! Thanks Sir! -SP

This is super useful. I downloaded your node tree template, which helped me a lot to get myself organised. But I found that I still did not understand some of the basic. Thanks for pointing me to these early videos. Just to understand the purpose of Gain, Lift and Offset is already helping me. I am pretty new to this world. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
After selecting a LUT that is applied to all clips, I would like to apply a different LUT to all !clips by switching once and see the change (for all clips) by switching back and forth (i.e. not display/apply via node graph). So the entire project can switch between Sony Venice LUT and Arri Alexa, for example.
Mostly on the strength of your videos, I downloaded DaVinci Resolve. I've already done a little test video of footage I shot in FLog2. I can't get over how much more intuitive the workflow is compared to Premiere Pro! I took the same footage I used to create the video in Premier Pro and the process was much faster, from editing to color grading to creating output. I've been toggling between your videos and my test project and it has been really helpful! I'm concentrating on basics now, but look forward to using more advanced techniques like tracking. I'm thinking of going to Studio just to buy the package with the quick edit panel, though just using the keyboard seems fast and easy. BTW, since you do broadcast work, my introduction to editing was in 1968. I was hired by a local television station to run audio on weekend news broadcasts as my high school job. They quickly added processing and editing news film to my tasks. I've since done both editing projects at my design school and also some directing and non-linear editing for instructional videos at a medical school. Now I just have fun!
This was extremely helpful. The color grading page is a little intimidating for newbie’s like myself. Looking forward to viewing your other Davinci Resolve videos.

Excellent! Your approach makes it easy to understand the complicated stuff, thanks Darren.
