This solidified my desire to not go any darker than 35%. I've been on the fence for a while, but seeing the variable films at multiple angles helped a ton. Thanks!
I've been putting off getting front window tints for a while now, but this sun is legit killing me. I get that left forearm tan. This video explains exactly what I was trying to figure out. Thank you for sharing!
Your explanation is THE BEST I have ever seen. Tremendous help in figuring out which to go with depending on your needs. Thanks for doing this, a GREAT help.😊
I’m just here to say I highly recommend Sunstoppers as a company. In Florida, window treatments, like sunglasses, are standard requirements. Sunstoppers “Lifetime warranty” means just that. After nine long years in unrelenting subtropical conditions, my rear tint began to bubble. In just a few hours, Sunstoppers honored the warranty and replaced my vehicle’s entire tint free of charge. You just can’t beat that 👍🏽
SPOT ON. Im 30 seconds in, and I KNOW my time isn't going to be wasted. If this video was an essay and the only thing that could go wrong is NOT DELIVERING on what is said to be covered...5 out 5 stars. STANDING OVATION with an almost rabid clapping. I am sure I will cry when I have time to process what is happening in this video. I even THINK I get those accounts of people tearing their cloths off and running around like a lunatic. I want to YELL with excitement. Give me something aromatically rich and exuberating..NO, you have already given me enough. Im not going to be able to get enough sleep for a week. Stay with me here, but I think this video should be shown at those Anonymous meetings. YOU can't hear me clapping, so YOU are left with this reaction. WELL DONE SIR. WELL DONE. BRA-VO.
This is really helpful, thanks for showing such a wide range of shades both inside, outside, and at night! The night comparison is really helpful in particular.
One other thing to mention is not just the darkness, but the _hue_ of the tint. Most people think tint is just shades of gray, but in reality, there are assortments of color which will look dramatically different against the color of your car’s interior and exterior. Also if your back window already has factory tint , color matching it would help get you that “seamless” factory look.
The state I live in has a 35% limit on front driver and passenger side windows. But the state police are allowed to have virtually limo tint on their same windows. They tell us that the 35% tint is for safety, so I asked them if the state police take a safety course on how to see out of those 5% tint windows they are allowed to have. I got a blank stare.
The colour of your interior can even make a difference to how dark the car looks when tinted. Light colour interiors will make your tint look lighter from outside as more light is bouncing around inside the car.
Great examples man. Thank you. This really helped me make up my mind on doing 35% on the drivers and passenger front door and 20% on the back window and rear passenger area.
looking out gives at great look on how it is but not looking in because the whole car needs to be tint too blocking the light from coming in with the other percentages.
u hav the best tint video I'm gnna get mi truck tint'd monday morn'n I wasn't sre, b'twn 15% or 20% aftr see'n ur video wit all the shades on 1 window, I see 15% is NOT that bad @ nite, I need 2 see ppl, kids, cars 🚗 & stuff.
Best Video on comparing tints. Sad to say it BUT, Basically the ones that Look good are going to be Illegal in most states. (For quick reference go to 0:45 shows tint ratings.) First 2 aren't legal ANYWHERE. 20% the 3rd darkest is only legal in New Mexico The 4th 35% Ok for about half the country. A few states Only allow 70% the lightest tint in the video. NY, DC, IA, CA, AK, DE and RI. No Tint allowed at all on the front windows 😩 NJ, VT, NH
The older I get the more I hide from the sun, and people😅. I do drive to work in the dark and now not sure if I want 15 or 20% would prefer the limo 5, but know that definitely is not practical. Illegal too. Going next week so will have to pick. This video is excellent!
I think 15% ceramic is the perfect amount of privacy. I had 5 percent before and almost hit a pedestrian on a left turn. Its very hard to see at night if you aren't on a well lit area.
AM IN TEXAS AND VERY HOT HERE AND HEAT LIGHT ALWAYS GETS ME AM ALL SUN BURN FROM MY ARM.. I WANT TO PUT TINT IN MY TAHOE I GOT FRONT WINDOWS DONT HAVE ANY TINT THERE WHITE PLAIN AND BACK windows also get sun light.. so idk what to put incase I get tinted windows what do u recommend??
Great vid that clearly shows the differences between the various percentages of film. However I'm wondering what's on the other glass, stock? or some percentage of film as that will impact the external looking this light beed into the cabin. Appears to be stock or nothing on.
Thank you so much for this video. Very useful. But I agree with the other comment that said it woulda been better to do the transition in the opposite direction
if you are ever wondering or tempting, go for 60-70% ceramic optical clarity windshield film + 30/35% carbon film all around. Worth every penny for glare control and heat rejections. I tried a variety of tints over various cars (sedan/hatch/suv/minivan), and anything above 50% on side windows is too light, and anything below 50% on windshield is too dark for many driving conditions. You can go for below 30% all around but at that point it's beyond functional and it goes into an aesthetic realm, which you better know what you are getting into. I've seen people doing 30% or below on windshield and it's undriveable, don't do that. Lastly, if you've got SUV/minivan and not planning on doing any tints in the back windows because of factory "privacy" glass, think twice and apply light ceramic films. The privacy glasses are only adding visibility shade and still let infrared (all the heat) and UVa (bad UV) through. Need a film to block the bad UV and ceramic film for infrared heat rejection. Same thing for EV glass roofs, apply ceramic film or get a cover. Finally, if you ever get pulled over for whatever reasons, just roll down all the windows so that the officer can see inside the car without any obstructions, and you should be good from any tint related issues
I have a question.. my vw passat was born with vw 4KF windows which are tinted glass which is equivalent to 35% what foil should I add to hit 5% on the rear window and 15 on the side windows thanks
Thank you but hard to tell on the door window glass… would’ve been cool to see on a larger surface area like the windscreen of all the different types of tint. Trying to stay legal with privacy & sun blocking in mind. Thanks.
It will look darker when it's all the windows tinted compared to any sample anyways. A lot of shops will have a car with the example you are looking for.
35% is nice for the rear as still let you see interior unfortunately the legal limit for the front driver and passenger side in the UK is 70% and windshield being 75%
I’m telling you right now 5 is crazy especially at night! I made that mistake once ended up changing the two side windows to 20 which was way better at night still dark but I could see enough even people walking around with no lights and bike riders. I kept the back window 5 n my two small rear side windows for privacy and keeping people from seeing what I had in my back set as easy. If I could do it again I’d go 20 all around honestly my rearveiw mirror is useless at night and so is turning my head and looking with my eyes threw the back window
What a great video. Thank you! If the glass from factory comes shaded or tinted ans the glass is rated at 70, is it true or untrue, that whatever values tint I put on (35 or 50) will read darker than its number because of the glass not being clear but shaded. So .7 x .35 = .24. In your experience does that hold up or no? A 35 or 55 tint will remain looking as you have demonstrated here? Thank you!
Finally someone showed the difference in real life.
Thanks.
This solidified my desire to not go any darker than 35%. I've been on the fence for a while, but seeing the variable films at multiple angles helped a ton. Thanks!
The best video ever made about window tint. Congratulations and big thanks for assisting millions to choose the correct one!
He doesnt have million views though!
You should have put the tint in the opposite direction with the 5% being on the left
I was thinking the same thing
All depends on you looking from outside in or inside to out.
What difference does it make. It’s just to show the differences, it’s not being left like that.
Yeah. We all know what pretty much no tint looks like haha
Or the front window JUST FOR THE DEMO
Great video and examples of each tint on the car. I needed this because I was torn between 35% and 20%. I'm forsure getting 20% for my new car!
Same here 😎
Same
Thank you for doing this video. I've had cars tinted at 20%, but was always curious to see it at other percentage. Your video explains all of that.
You in California?

Now THIS is how to present a detailed descriptive demonstration. Thank you.
perfect way to show different tints. same car, same lighting. thank you.
This is truly the best comparison video EVER

i feel like 20% should be legal
In te nederlands its 55% at most legal
especially for rear windows. Rear windows honestly should have no limit.
@@teru797 yeah in ontario there is none for rear
i think 15% tbh, you can see fine and its dark enough
@@oguzaktasaktas-gs4jv rear windows no limits and front 75% max in czechia

Best comparison video I've seen! Very smart.
Greetings from SoCal. Thanks for this informative video, straight to the point. Was stuck between the 20 or 35. Going with 20.
northern cali here yea new law says 30% front windows and back window dark as you want it..
20 here as well with 80 on the front

This was the best tint comparison video. Thanks for the great video.

Thinking of doing the same tint 35% on the front passenger and 20% on back. How do you like your tint?
@LostUndertheSky just go with 20% all around, it'll look uniform and you won't be pulled over for tht....
Thank you for the video, really helped to understand the options for my vehicle.
Thanks for taking the time to do this. Very helpful!
This should be mandatory viewing. Legit best possible vid on this topic.
Mandatory for who 😂 its an aftermarket accessory AKA OPTIONAL
Fantastic. Finally got a feel for it
This is such a good video. Well presented, straight to the point, easy to compare, and very insightful
This is the best explanation/discussion on this subject that I have found on the internet.
Thanks (from Australia)
By far the best video I've watched on this subject thank you for that!

I’m glad you did this because I just got pulled over a few hours ago for my car that already came tinted saying that I need to remove it
What percent was it?
Thank you for this video. Now i know what is good for my sedan. Ill go 35% tint to all windows. Just enough privacy and visibility.👌
Very detailed example set. Thanks for putting this together.
This is a great video! I wonder what tint film you have on the demo? I love the purple look under sun, especially the 70% film.
Thanks for doing this, excellent demonstration!

This was well thought out. Great video.
Very in depth detailed video. 🤔 I'm very partial with that 20 and 15% that's what i need
El mejor video que encontré, muy bien explicado gracias, también influye las marcas de vinilo que pones, cual recomiendas??
I have the 5% (previous owner installed it) honestly is the worst at night, I'm going to change it, thanks for the vid
Great video, mate. Cheers.I am looking to installing some window tinting for home and this is a good comparison.
great video
This was very informative and direct. Thanks for the extra work u put into it
Excellent video! Thank you Sir! Now I know what I need to get for my new BMW
Went with 15%, love it
Put this video at the highest echelons of tint videos. GOATED. 🐐
